Phillie Time
In come The Phillies. I hope they present more of a challenge than the hapless D-backs. Grave Duggar continues to rake, he’s hitting .324, OPS near 1.000, easily one of our best players when you factor in defense, too.
Cueto feels a little bit on the clock in this start. He needs to step up his game. Even if he’s the #5 he’s got to be better than he’s been…..
Gist of what I read on another site was peacock sucks–4 man doesn’t work too many in game interviews yada
yada. Radio option of Flems and Winn (who needs to calm down a lot) might work. Hope Wade stays saw Giants might not activate any of hitters for few more days. Wonder what they could get for Dickerson who could be odd guy out
Also Hjelle left Richmond start early after leg injury, limping off mound. Not good.
I think Giants current pace is for 104 Ws, who knew?
I’m ok with dumping Dick his best contributions are behind him.Ruf almost the same neither can play the outfield worthwhile,Ruf could play some 1st but why? plenty of candidates to play there.Still like to see more athletic players added like Wade Jr..And that would be Ramos&Davis to add the RH power to compensate a heavy LH team. Why keep holding Ramos back, geez the guys got over 1,200 minors AB’s I think Willied mentioned, there are tons of players and organizations that have a top prospect up a lot quicker then the Giants ever do.
But wtf what do I know there 20 games over .500 in 1st place!! They seem to handle everything well that comes up..
Tony Kemp hit 3 run HR for A’s yesterday as they beat Yanks back there 5-3, off Wandy Peralta.
And just homered again in top first off Domingo German.
I think it was Snarkk who made comment on how many ABs Ramos has overall. I don’t really look at anything until guys get past rookie or fall league myself, college included. But he’s doing well in AA and playing CF every day.
Promising sabean/evans first round pick.
Most wins in MLB? Giants. 2nd most? A’s… At some pint it’s time to talk bridge to bridge WS.
It is about time for a pint.
Kat, Davis hit a grand slam last night, his 3rd HR already. 7-26 BA .269, but of those 7 hits 3 HRs and 3 doubles. small sample size, but he’s raking. Bart homered too, #7 on year as Sac won 8-3. 4 shutout innings for Kazmir.
Wonder when we’ll see Coondog this weekend. He’s doing fairly well for philly
It turns out the Giants’ regular network is replaying each Peacock broadcast later in the evening. That’s a cool thing to do.
I couldn’t even watch the game I’m not sophisticated enough to figure out this stupid Peacock scenario.I remember last time they did it I think it was the scheduled game for that night. Not last night!!
The only peacock I remember growing up with was channel 4 NBC with the colorful peacock spreading her wings in the start of a show..
Today’s game will be replayed on the Giants’ regular network tonight at 8:00 Pacific Time.
It was kind of hectic in the Peacock booth, 4 guys trying to be nice and polite to each other really doesn’t work to well. Last nights game was truly a game of inches Philly almost made some good plays but just couldn’t get their gloves on them. Woulda changed the whole dynamic of the game.
John (?) Kruk and Jimmy Rollins are amiable enough, but they spent much more time talking about the old days — Larry Bowa, John Vukovich, etc. — than about the present. Only interesting assertion I remember them offering was that Girardi’s team is, with a few changes, essentially the same team Kapler had in Philly.
I think I’ll watch the video today and listen to the radio.
It kinda was an old Phillies reunion.
I registered into Peacock a few minutes ago using my iMac. Registered using my dummy email account. Took me about 3 minutes, I watched a bit of last night’s game. Yeah, 4 guys in the broadcast booth is at least one too many. John Kruk — I don’t see what he contributes to the Bcast. Rollins not bad…
“The opener worked once, did not work a second time and will not be seen a third time for Sammy Long.
The young lefty will get the first start of his career Sunday at Oracle Park against the Phillies, Gabe Kapler announced Saturday.
“We feel like Long has really earned the opportunity to start for us and see what he can give us,” the manager said before the Giants hosted the Phillies.”
Rollins’ impersonations of his old manager Charlie are pretty funny.
I’ll give John Kruk some props.
He just said on Peacock that he thought Rollins had a legit shot at the HOF.
But, he said there’s no way he should be in, if Jeff Kent isn’t in; and he couldn’t understand why Kent is not…
He was talking about chase it let when he invoked Kent.
Utley.
Rollins. But neither he nor Utley deserve HOF…
No no one would compare Rollins and Kent. The question concerned who from the ph IF of Howard Rollins and utley deserved hof. Kruk said Rollins does and implied utley does but said if Kent can’t get in utley’s blocked too. He did categorically opine that Kent belongs in the hall. Yeah well he’s right about that.
Wood starts out not sharp.
That’s a lotta pitches…
Yazmattazzzz !!!
Glad to hear Kruk say that about Jeff Kent. It’s a joke that’s he gets snubbed every year in the voting!Screw the HOF nowadays, they could care less about true talented ball players!
351 HR’s as a second baseman (377overall) most all time, eight 100 RBI seasons( over 1,500 total)a .290 career BA average better then others already in like Ryne Sandberg who’s in.Hell he’s the second best and could be debatable over Joe Morgan. All he was about was winning as JT Snow and Rich Aurilla would say, great teammate. Was he standoffish, yes at times, which didn’t always rub well with reporters, but that should not have an effect on how great a player he was.He was the most productive 2nd baseman when he was playing period!
And he was money with runners in scoring position, like his great quote :”The money lies with the RBI” and he certainly was that player!! To me it was a pleasure watching him come to bat, like Bonds both cocky, both could care less about each other, but when the stage was lit up, no 2 did it much better..
Kent and Bonds together. Man.
Nice work, Solano.
Nice work Wood.
Is it just me are has my TV been taking over by “The Outer Limits, Don’t touch that dial we control the TV”
I can’t get the Giants game on again! Is this full PEACOCK BS Weekend?!?!
Guess it’s only US Open Golf for now.,
It’s on Peacock for this game at least, Kat.
Kat try singing out and signing back in
LaMonte Wade, another guy who just keeps getting it done. Very impressive AB there.
Yep.
ZMan pulled one out of the hat on getting Wade.
This guy needs to stay on the 25.
Always solid ABs, good arm. Some pop.
Better than passable at 1B, and no embarrassment in the OF…
Sometimes you just get lucky
I’d say Yaz is due a few of those. I don’t know why Cutch was playing so deep in left with a lefty at the plate, but we’ll take it, right?!
bilasport.net working great today for game if you’re having trouble streaming it
Wade hadn’t done shit in his career to this point, but he looks legit to me. As with Duggar, the wheels may come off and they’ll both “revert to form,” but Wade is hitting, hitting with power and he looks really good defensively. All three OF positions and first base make for some serious versatility.
starting to think Spider Tack was a big deal to Wood’s success.
Wood is getting lit up.
WTF is going on here.
Wood’s got nothin’ so far…
jesus christ.
it’s fun listening to Kruk, Thrill and Rollins talk this inning.
Get him the hell out of there Kapler. He looks like ass.
Sloppy game all around so far.
Wood looks like he needs a stint on the 10-day IL.
Freshen him up. He’s been outta sorts the last 3-4 starts…
Belted !!!
Hmmm.
I wonder if the impending crackdown on Spider Tack and other stuff is showing itself early in this game.
Nola supposedly has a great curve. It’s been rollin’ up there so far today…
He did throw 2 really good curveballs to Belt in that AB before the 3-2.
Vosler looks pretty damn smooth fielding over at 3B….
He does and he has some serious pop to boot.
Slater took a bad route there, he slowed down. Should have caught that…
Solano should have had that tag at second, too. Hoskins crushes two right after a couple of suspect Solano plays.
I used to call Ray Durham “Stonehands”.
Solano is vying for that title. Inconsistent with the leather, not a lotta range, bit of a scatter arm.
Good thing he can hit…
A shitload of ground balls getting through for the Phillies today. Oh, well.
ZZTop crew not exactly shreddin’ it today…
Oy.
Phukkk me.
3 run jack.
Phills can hit…
Might be time to break up the band.
After that, the ZZTop guys should shave the beards and get into witness protection.
I’m stickin’ with Farhan needs to get 2 reliable Pen arms from somewhere.
This Pen is too shaky to handle a good hitting team in a post season series…
epic mess at Petco. Topo first they take quick 1-0 lead, then 3b ump calls Votto out on check swing, argument starts with home plate ump then all hell breaks loose as Votto won’t shut up. Votto is tossed, so is mgr., and a Padres fan sitting near Reds dugout.
Good luck to Long. Back end of rotation after Gausman and DeSclafani scuffling.
Crawford btw 3-25.
Tatis injures himself making a routine futile dive for a grounder in the 5.5 hole.
Sorry guys I been in the east bay fiddling around living my best life. I’ll pop a new thread up tomorrow .
Tremendous shot by Durant to tie game with 1 second left.
How about Harden like an absolute nobody leaving it up to a clearly gassed KD for a hopeless fling at the end?
Gutless coaches decision?
Yeah, maybe they should’ve run a play for a useless choker like Joe Harris.
odd that he just stopped and passed off with so little time left.
ah Bucks haven’t won one since Kareem and Oscar, and philly since Moses Malone.
Harris sure struggled. Brown hustling player, but so many minutes for offensively challenged guy reminds me of what dooms Warriors–lack of shooters/scorers to rely on.
