First to 50
I’d love to know the time on Grave Duggar’s 1st to home plate sprint. That dude was FLYING around 3rd. Now leads the team in the most Flap jizzworthy stat of OPS (.969).
Not much to say about Casilla. He can’t hit but he just gets shit done. I hope they don’t drag this Buster thing out though. If he can’t re-boot his body it’s time to get Tromp up here.
We very nearly have double the number of wins to losses. This is just an incredible never before seen year unfolding before our eyes.

Good morning. Happy Sunday After Father’s Day. Keep piling up those W’s. Money in the bank. Compound interest to draw on as needed later. W.
Great photo. Duggar and Kap are two of the biggest stories of the ‘21 Giants so far.
Holy crap, I just watched the highlights. I was at at the Dodger/Cub games, so I missed it. Duggar making a mad dash from 1st to score the winning run would have made me go absolutely crazy.
Incredible season.
You and Pawlie (among others) are in serious danger of flunking out due to poor Flap attendance.
Shape up, bros. This is one crazy fuckin’ season. Without checking, I believe the Giants in SF have never had more than 4 straight crappy non-contending seasons…
Lulz! Alright my friend, I will step up my game.
That is correct. SF Giants have had four straight losing seasons twice: ’74-’77 (including 80-81 in ’75) and ’05-’08. NY Giants never did it. I’m not counting last season, so the current streak is three.
Had one eye open for Barrel’s bomb.
Missed all the Grave Duggar fun.
WHO ARE THESE GUYS???
Yeah, that Kap-Duggar hug was cool to see. There sure is something special going on right now, the different contributions they get every game is astounding. And no one was stopping Duggar on the bases.
Gotta love the Grave Duggar!!!
i was trying to find a clip that showed more of his run to home. So far all i can find is at mlb.com where they pick him up flying around 3rd like a damn lunatic. Man, NOTHING was going to stop that guy. It is so awesome watching these fringe guys who nobody wanted take on the challenge, step up and become important pieces of the team. It’s literally my favorite thing about baseball
Twin would be eating it up.
Think he woulda been down with the Grave Duggar?
There were only 3 grave Duggar believers as I recall: you, me and Diggity. My guess is that twin wouldn’t have been on him to start since he mostly rolled with the Latin guys first. But at some point, as it has been for all those he’s buried alive, his success has become impossible to ignore
I tried to find something that showed his time around the bases, but came up empty. I guess that’s not a Saber thing.
So happy to be wrong about Duggar. Called him a scrub on more than one occasion. He is a microcosm of the team. Lots of flaws, no one thinking they will contend (including all of us at the beginning) and he just keeps getting it done, and the team is the best in MLB. Crazy fun!!
This is the stuff dreams are made of. It would be unbelievable if it wasn’t so.
The end of this clip has an isolated view of Duggar’s complete dash:
https://www.mlb.com/video/giants-10th-inning-rally
Thanks James..Btw the 2 fist helmet slam was a thing of beauty caught in the moment of a pure adrenaline rush..
Goddamn that guy is fast so fun to watch him run. I’d give anything to be that fast even for just a day.
It felt like sparks were shooting off of GraveDuggar’s cleats on the mad but under control dash.He sure knows how to cut the bases, it’s tech work!
“Not much to say about Casali,he can’t hit “
Yes that’s true, they have his left hand version in Tauchman.
But just when you want to write them off, both miraculously come thru, with either catching shutouts (5-6?)a clutch hit, game saving catches, a Grandslam by Tauchman that nobody could see coming after 5 straight K’s and one strike from number 6 and a 6 pack of Golden Sombrero’s to wear. The faith Kapler shows in these 2 is undeniable, that and having the option cards close to his best.Wade should of not gone down before Belt’s injury, but sadly since he Vosler and others have options there the first to go on tough calls..
1. Austin Slater (R) LF
2. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
3. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
4. Buster Posey (R) C
5. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
6. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
7. Steven Duggar (L) CF
8. Mauricio Dubon (R) SS
9. Sammy Long (L) P
Slater sighting.
I think I’d flip Duggar with Solano in the LU.
Get the R-L-R thing going, and Duggar’s speed ahead of Solano’s gap+ power…
fun fact: A’s SP today Cole Irvin played for Kap and Phils in 2019. Wasn’t great season for him (ERA of 5.83) but did have good stretch out of pen after failing as SP and said, “I really enjoyed playing for him” in Chron story today from Matt Kawahara.
I dropped out of last night’s game, at A’s up 4-2, other things going on.
Dropped back in late well after it was over, pretty much figuring on a loss just due to A’s being pretty good, but not totally convinced. Sure enough, Gmen 6-5 in extras. Watched the highlights. Very cool. Duggar is definitely making a believer outta me. All he needs now to prove to me he’s the real thing is to stay healthy. Tauchmann must be setting the extras paradigm — strike out silly in the first 9, then be a hero in extras. Hello Casali. I’ll say again, this team of no-names reminds me more every day of the 2010 squad and its misfits. These guys aren’t misfits, they’re just a bunch of no names gettin’ it done, makin’ it happen. With really good starting pitching most of the time.
Instead of Misfits, maybe I’ll start callin’ ’em the “No Pricks”…
SD Padres will now be known in trivia laurels as the team to lose and end the Arizona Diamondbacks record streak at 24..They had not won a road game in over 2 months!!
The Dubs had their win streak a couple of years ago in the 73-9 season ended at 24. I don’t remember who beat them. That was an incredible streak. Absolutely a shame that team could not win the Finals. I think they left something in the regular season trying to set the record, and it cost them the title…
When’s Webb coming back?
When he can beat out Tauchman for a roster spot?
No but seriously they have said he’s throwing ok in BP sessions but still has
some hurdles still to overcome, guessing building up more arm strength?
Dubon’s defense, mental mistakes and other pecadilloes are getting a little tiresome…
Dubon is like my golf game. The more he plays, the worse he gets.
Weird that I’m getting the A’s feed. Got Bilasport for the sound.
Ruf watched that third strike pass by him as if it was a bad throw from Dubon. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? was the look on his face both times.
Loo,
Reporting for duty.
Dubon is my man, and has been since they acquired him, even befoere he played I liked him. I like his backstory.
No matter what transpires from here onward, Kap is a lock for Manager of the Year.
The photo of Duggar and Kap hugging shows the emotion of two guys who started the season with something in common: they both needed to prove they belong in their big league jobs. The hug shows the emotion of them both having proved it.
The gratitude they have for each other for having helped each other prove it.
Long looks like he’s settling in OK. Can’t hang that curve tho.
10.39 First to Home,Duggar sure was motoring !
So if a hitter hits one in triples alley, how long would it take for Big Titty to score 30 seconds?
He wouldn’t make it on the home stretch 3rd to home. Legs would seize up.
That’s if Flannery had a brain fart and waived him home…
oh well, Got a return in the Brebbia aisle.
Hard to sweep a series against a good club.
Especially if your Pen blows up…
Jaylin Davis just hit grand slam for Sac, game is on channel #44 up here KBCW. black shoes Beede went 4 innings allowed 2 runs.
Kat is probably readying another demand for Davis’ promotion.
How was Beede’s control ?
they took him out after the slam that made it 8-2. I only saw an inning, he allowed couple baserunners but escaped damage. I’ll catch the box score tomorrow.
It’s more than overdue to unleash hell with a Jaylin Davis callup.
He’s driven in 19 runs in 12 games since recently coming back.
If the Giants can turn GD around they certainly can with Davis a RH bat they lack in the outfield..
If Ruf hadn’t hit into the DP. …
No way Duggar’s making the last out.
Tatis Jr. just made his 17th error of the season. Pads up 2-1 in 7th, bases loaded 0 outs, he comes in on a ball to his right and tries to start DP going to 2b, instead of taking out at home. Instead his throw tails away from guy covering the bag and goes into RF. 2 runs score, and DBax wind up with runners at 2b and 3b, one of whom comes in on sac fly. 4-2 AZ.
tremendous talent but not first time I’ve seen him make dumb “hero” decision and his errant arm has cost his team.
He also needs to eat a ball once in awhile instead of trying to make the spectacular play. And yes youth plays a major part,.If there up big are down big, no need to risk a dive play in the hole and blow out your shoulder, but u it’s hard to convince a player of his talent that your only hurting the team if you go down..
Oh well, not our day, but I’ll take the series win every time.
We still get the most awesome trophy ever…
Comes with a free tetanus shot.
109 F right now in Portland.
112 F right now in Newberg and McMinnville, just SW of Portland in heart of Pinot wine country.
103 F in Seattle.
Maybe 1/2 the residences in these Oregon areas have A/C, at most. Fewer in Seattle metro.
Projected as hot or hotter tomorrow.
That is all insane…
It’s a 110 in Albany Or right now. I will take a series win any time also. The A’s are not pushovers.
We just texted some friends living in Seattle just N of Lake Washington.
No A/C.
It’s 92 F inside their house, they have fans going. They are elderly and not in greatest shape.
Concerned…
The US track Olympic trials in Portland have been delayed today because of the heat.
I didn’t even think of that. I did check Eugene on a couple of weather services, its now down to around 109. Unreal. You can’t run long races in that. Too dangerous…
I have a cousin who has lived in Seattle for 23 years. She says the weather has changed dramatically. Like less than half the rainy days they used to have.
I’ll be long gone by 2100, but if we don’t figure this out, the planet may be unlivable by then. Got to drastically cut C02 emissions and find a net C02 reduction way to pull massive amounts of C02 out of the atmosphere and fix it into the ground, IMHO. Many are working on it; not easy. The Company that figures that out will be way richer than Amazon. Billions more trees would help, but not good enough. Stop cutting down the Amazon. That’s like having one lung removed while you spark up a couple extra butts per day. Earth day 1970 the atmospheric C02 saturation was at 325 ppm. Now around 415. Humungous increase. Arctic permafrost is now defrosting, giving up methane. Bad cycle feeding on itself. Target must be to eventually get back down to CO2 well below 400…
Whenever I go to the Giants’ ballpark and see the water in McCovey Cove, I visualize a sea wall of some kind being needed someday to keep the ballpark from being flooded.
Science fiction author Kim Stanley Robinson wrote an interesting novel that described a possible future of New York City in the year 2140, with streets that were now canals.

There’s a website tracking the daily increase.
https://www.co2.earth/daily-co2
Our planet is toast. Anyone that gets elected is never going to risk their career by trying to save the planet with money and lost jobs. And the people that could actually do something they’re never going to get elected. There is still time to fix this but it’s going to run out this planet is done
Well the first major street at the lower eastern tip of Manhattan is already called Water Street…
Book called Windup Girl (can’t remember author’s name) is worth a read for sci-fi fans, set in the not too distant future in Bangkok, protected by a huge sea wall but the streets are already flooded and people live on higher floors of abandoned buildings, etc. Called windup girl because of the character who has had genetic manipulation and is not someone to be messed with. Having been to Bangkok a gazillion times, it was cool to picture it that way. Underwater, that is.
Paolo Bacigalupi; great writer.

I read Windup Girl. Terrific novel, I agree.
His novel Water Knife is very good, too. It’s about the possible (inevitable?) coming dire water crisis in the western U.S.
He’s a writer from Colorado. I went to a reading and Q&A he did at a book festival in Berkeley (the Bay Area Book Festival) a few years ago. It’s the only book festival I’ve ever been to. It was a really cool event.
Cool, I’ll check it out.
Oh, and, this is the last time I’ll say this, because I have not been able to find documented proof (just too difficult to go back and find very old posts here) but I was a Duggar supporter way back! 2 years ago? 3? When did he first come up? This is why I can’t find my old post. Of course, I also said in the same post that I had high hopes for not only Duggar but also Slater. Slater, maybe not so much anymore, but he’s still here… I’ve become a big Wade fan. I hope he sticks (but probably still has options). To watch Wade, and Wilmet, and Duggar, et al, is a real joy. Also wish Vosler would stick, I like him at 3rd. I’m still in Dubon’s camp. And I side with Kat, still hoping for a Davis invasion. And that’s the way it was.
Next season will be a big transition season for the Giants. Some of the used-to-be Bore Core will probably be gone and change will be in the air.
God, hopefully. I appreciate what Crawford and some of these other guys have done but Z and Kap and his coaches know what they’re doing, I’ve been ready for these old guys to go for forever it’s time win or lose let them go God damn some people have so much trouble just letting go
I hear ya, but it’s a little different when they’re playoff and World Series heroes. It does complicate things. Few execs can be as ruthless about it as Bill Walsh. Walsh kept drafting so well, he could get away with jettisoning playoff heroes. That’s the key. Become a continual playoff team, and keep reloading the roster with talent, and the fans won’t really care which players get jettisoned.
you’re right. It does complicate things. I just don’t think signing or not signing them will deter Z in the slightest. We could win the WS and he could sign them all and he’ll just dig up 5 more guys to surprise us in 2022. It’s really outrageous that we got this dude and Kap and all the coaches. They all are making this work.
I will look for your post at some point later. This admission is enough to save you at least for tonight from having to sleep with one eye open. Kat, blade, chuck, willueD, etc are not salvageable. They’re gone at least in terms of what GD is going to do with them
Haha, good if you can find it, now I just hope it was as positive about the GD as I remember it being. And yes, thanks, a good night’s sleep is always welcome.
that Grave Duggar/Kap hug has been fucking with me all day. Those two guys barely know eachother considering the course of time. They both are on their last chances. Makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes. This fucking team is special, mates.
And no June Swoon this year. Let’s hope it’s not just delayed until July… or August…
i feel like we’re playing with house $. We have a solid pitching staff and we’ve banked a shitload of wins and we have the best GM in baseball ready to wave his magic wand at the deadline. It’s been an incredible ride already. Let’s just appreciate it and see how it plays out
Kap has something that all the teams want in their managers nowadays: the ability to connect with contemporary players. The old school guys just don’t connect well with today’s players. Dusty Baker is an exception. He has the personality to transcend generational differences.
Giants and A’s meet again Aug. 20-22. Until then, here’s a blast from the Flap past. As Flav hilariously describes it, “Why are both of these yoked out dudes trying to take a painful dump on the Bay Bridge? Actually it looks like the deuce might drop on their respective stadiums and in Oakland’s case, would they even notice? Baha.”
The real trophy looks different than the artistic rendering.

Truly hilarious.
And the following day’s thread might be what PaulinAsia is looking for.
See his comment at 10:01 PM.
I think that thread (which is excellent) includes the first appearance of the Grave Duggar nickname as well as a few other positive comments about him.
Yeah, I thought of that too re Paul’s comment about Duggar and others.
Good find, Loo. Also a strong GD endorsement from Chi in that post…
Today was Chi’s game to visit and would imean a long journey iback and forth. Despite outcome, hope he enjoyed.
Yeah, saw his pics on FB, looked like a nice time despite the loss.
Double post sorry. Phone was supposed to let me know that before they both went out, must have missed it.
