A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Banking Wins

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 1, 2021

With our lead down to 1.5 games it is a good time to face the D-backs. Honestly, I’m not worrying about the standings anymore. LA and SD will be in full stride soon and it’s very likely they pass us in the standings. But who cares? If we fill the gaps we have and we stay close there’s no reason we can’t be in this race all Summer.

It is time to get back to winning games.

Can’t hold the leadfor 2 fucking batters.

Cueto got pissed the OF messed up that flyball and next pitch throws the gopher ball.
    Is he now a #5?
    I say he’s clearly a #4, who occasionally will do a bit better. But, he’s trending towards a #5…

Gramps might’ve brought that one back…

  4. unca_chuck said, on July 1, 2021 at 7:53 pm

    DIck is a fucking idiot.

  5. unca_chuck said, on July 1, 2021 at 7:55 pm

    The unraveling continues.

  6. snarkk said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:02 pm

Dick is pretty useless at bat for a long time now…

  7. unca_chuck said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:02 pm

    Infield dirt power from Dick.

  8. Macdog said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:03 pm

Limp Dick at the plate so far tonight.

  9. snarkk said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:05 pm

    Ouch, again.
Cueto no bueno — however you pronounce it…

  10. unca_chuck said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:05 pm

    Pull Cueto

  11. djloo27 said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:09 pm

Dick hasn’t been good all year.
Has a few 3 hit games that make it look like he’s gonna get rolling, but he never does…

Wood tomorrow and who, Long on Sat? Great.

Tonight is first of 7 games in a row too.

So if a guys been sick for 4 days why start him?
Baseball decisions can be outright dumb.
Take Tauchman the other day, obviously in pain with the knee , but still stays in for another inning when he’s hobbling..

    • snarkk said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:17 pm

      Baseball players are habitual creatures?
Supposedly, routine is very important to them, I’ve heard that a zillion times.
When I heard Kap pre-game say Cueto had taken an IV, I figured Kap was setting up low expectations …

Krukow is back to arm slot. Not since the days of Jonathan Sanchez has that been pertinent.

  15. Macdog said, on July 1, 2021 at 8:57 pm

The swing at 3-0 approach hasn’t worked out of late.

  16. djloo27 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:08 pm

Is the Statcast strike zone box positioned at the very front of home plate?
    The back? Somewhere in between?
    I think it matters…

    • xoot said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:21 pm

It does. Given the size of the plate there’s no reason they couldn’t subtly depict the three dimensional prism and dramatize it on replay.

      • djloo27 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:23 pm

        Thanks, Xoot!

This feels like it is slippping away.

  18. Macdog said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:21 pm

It’s not easy losing to the D-Backs these days, but the Giants did enough — hitting, pitching, defense — to do just that. This is a bad stretch.

  19. alleykat69 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:21 pm

Killer DP and now a 4 game losing streak.
    Nervously biting on my fingernails..

    • djloo27 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:24 pm

Maybe your boy will give us a little spark…

  20. Macdog said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:24 pm

And the Ruf-Dick combo has run its course. Those two look spent.

    • djloo27 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:27 pm

      They really do.
I’m sure they’re both cheap enough to cut loose at this point…

    • James said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:41 pm

Dickerson has been off all year long. Ruf is 4 for his last 15, not a great stretch, but he’s produced for SF. His overall numbers are still very good.

The free swingers – Dickerson, Solano, and Dubon – have been the biggest drag on the offense.

      • James said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:58 pm

Ok, that’s not entirely fair to the hackers, given the number of PAs Tauchman and Slater have.

  21. alleykat69 said, on July 1, 2021 at 9:53 pm

Kapler could of left Davis in after he pinched hit to play LF instead of Dickless just for defense upgrade if nothing else, but knooowww he continues to treat him like his personal whipping boy..
If there a tired bunch u think you want fresh legs and some youth in both Estrada and Davis in there..

    BUMMER!

  23. willedav said, on July 2, 2021 at 7:58 am

Injuries are messing with kap’s platoons. Minus LaStella Belt and now Tauchman, he didn’t have any bench bat others than RHs yesterdayto face DBax RHP SP and pen, as either Miller or Flemming commented on. Davis and Ruf ABs didn’t work out; might have been saving Slater but not a guy who hits RHP well. Thairo is back up SS so he had to fill in for Dubon, but unlike Vosler or Krizan, another RH.
another RHP in Gallen goes tonight…doubt we see any of Davis Thairo Ruf in starting lineup, especially since Solano and Flores did good things.

There was no way we were gonna win every game against AZ. We will lose some more too. The first year in a long time we didn’t have a June swoon, maybe we are gonna have a July swoon who knows.
