A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Big Series

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 19, 2021

Scoring 2 runs in the last two games is probably not the momentum you need heading into a critical series against the stacked Art Dealers. Every time I look at our line up of hitters I shake my head and say “but how?” Almost all these guys are castoffs from other organizations. And yet we are 3rd in runs scored (NL) and first in home runs (NL). So I just accept that Z knows more than everyone else and I move on. But it’s hard to do when I go back and look at Ruf, Solano, Slater, Grave Duggar, Flores, Estrada, Wade, Sock Man, Dickerson….etc

How does this team ever score ANY runs with this hodge podge collection of rag tag scraps?

Giants baseball ⚾️ frustrating and exhausting and exciting all in one!!

These right-handed hitters tonight are hitting that outside stuff to right-field instead of trying to pull it, which they’ve been doing lately. Use the whole field, what a concept.

    • Macdog said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:15 pm

Except meathead Ruf, who was still trying to kill it.

    • James said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:18 pm

I won’t barrage you with the data. Of course Estrada pulled the ball, as did the lefty Vosler. Ruf hit into DP going the other way. Go Giants!

      • zumiee said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:21 pm

I was talking about outside junk pitches.

      • zumiee said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:21 pm

        Like what Kim was throwing.

      • zumiee said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Ruf swung at an inside pitch and got kind of jammed.

      • James said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:26 pm

        Yes, sorry!

  8. unca_chuck said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Has Ruf always been using a purple bat?

been that kind of night. Kat mentioned Rawhide at 10:08. I’m gonna cue up the awesome opening and closing credits theme. “Head em up. Move em out.” 2 verses from Frankie Laine with backup singers.

on cbs sports site they run twitter stuff and beat writer comments to right of box score. Dodger nation is ruining Roberts for 4 run inning.

  15. alleykat69 said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:41 pm

Sure glad Bellinger is a bum right now.Dodger blogs are ripping him.

    • zumiee said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:43 pm

He takes a ridiculously violent swing. It doesn’t seem like a sustainable thing.

    • Macdog said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:44 pm

The strike zone box doesn’t seem big enough with that straight-up stance of his.

shook off Posey there on last pitch to Pujols. Maybe it was a deke.
that 96 high hard one past Betts was awesome though. Guy is a trip, even if marine layer kept one in park.

  17. djloo27 said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:54 pm

Pujols must be 75 pounds heavier than when he came up…

  25. xoot said, on July 19, 2021 at 10:59 pm

pen game and yet they saved Rogers. I think we need a split of this series. Half way there.

    • willedav said, on July 19, 2021 at 11:07 pm

yeah 6 shutout innings, 1 hit 1 BB 6 Ks. well done.

  26. Macdog said, on July 19, 2021 at 11:01 pm

  27. willedav said, on July 20, 2021 at 6:51 am

Wonder if VMI or whatever that stat Flav used to quote is called,, messed Dogs over. Coming from Coors, where pitching staffs get taxed anyway, a day after blowing lead with Jansen and Bickford giving runs twice when they had chance to win. Giants finally get a guy they can tee off on, while Dogs bats go silent after first 2 runs.
Hope Vosler can stay really like to watch him hit.

  28. chipower9 said, on July 20, 2021 at 6:58 am

275 comments…and kudos to the Right-coasters (Loo, Mac) who hung in there until the end. What a fucking marathon.

Many mentioned that it felt like we were losing for most of the game, yet we led wire-to-wire. I think we were just waiting for the other shoe to drop (3-run dog bomb), but the pen said no bueno.

Get the W today and guarantee the split. Not the end of the world if we go 1-3, but a split would be huge.

  29. zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 8:15 am

Estrada came up big. Quality ABs.

  30. zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 8:57 am

The stock market had its biggest drop of the year yesterday, fueled by concerns about the possible effects of the Delta variant on the economy. And after that Fox News began promoting the vaccine.
    Coincidence?

    • Winder said, on July 20, 2021 at 9:54 am

To many Republicans are dropping. Fox has to do something.

      • zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:16 am

        Yes, literally their own viewers.

      • unca_chuck said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:23 am

It isn’t even ironic in the broadest sense that they are literally promoting their more ardent viewers to death sentences.

  31. alleykat69 said, on July 20, 2021 at 9:36 am

Delta Dawn was that flower you have on?
Could it be a faded rose from times gone bye
And did I hear you say another vaccine is on its way
To shoot are bodies up for the third time…

  32. zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 9:37 am

The nation is at 49.2% fully vaccinated. Vermont continues to lead, at 67%. Alabama is the worst, at 33.7%

    • unca_chuck said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:18 am

Most Bay Area counties are at 80+%. Funny Vermont is in the lead. It’s not like they are government loving blues. They are more stubborn independents. But they don’t simply listen to the noise.

      • zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:22 am

As to be expected. Not surprising at all.

      • zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:24 am

My county is at 45%, which, sadly, is not surprising either.

  33. unca_chuck said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:17 am

Yeah, the anti-vaccers may have more to do with the next election results than anything else. Hard to vote from under ground.

  34. zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:21 am

I wonder if Nick Saban is doing any big promotional things for the vaccine in Alabama. We all know how highly revered he is in that state. If he isn’t doing that, it would be great if he would.

    • willedav said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:40 am

The SEC commish though did come out very strongly in favor of athletes getting vaccines, so that teams with 85% get more perks. Said no more postponements of games, and if team had problems it could result in forfeit L. and of course, he also encouraged those planning on attending to be vaccinated as well.

  35. unca_chuck said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:25 am

What the media should be reporting is that the anti-vaxxer crowd in the house and the senate have ALL gotten the vaccine. Ask them every fucking day “Hey, Gomert, did you get the vaccine?”

    • snarkk said, on July 20, 2021 at 11:53 am

Exactly. The top anti-Vaxx talking heads refuse to state their vax status. Tucker Carlson being the key one. Obviously, any sane person takes that evasive response as an admission that you’ve been vaccinated.
Considering that, how people can take what these talking heads say as truth and guidance for what you do with your own health and family’s health is beyond mind-boggling, it’s mind-melting…

  36. alleykat69 said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:26 am

Maybe we need to bring in Chuck Norris with his elite Delta Force commandos to flush these anti vaccinated from going underground..

Give him 20 games at AAA and evaluate mid-August…

  38. zumiee said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:31 am

A good friend of mine passed away recently (not from Covid-19), and that terrible feeling of loss hits you hard.
The vaccine is such an easy and simple thing. A way to save so many lives.

  39. unca_chuck said, on July 20, 2021 at 10:36 am

Public health shouldn’t be a political stance.
