A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Steve Sax

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 28, 2021

I went to youtube to try to find some vid clips of Sax and his yippy throws but there wasn’t anything obviously available. That surprises me, that’s a name that, to me, will always be crystal clearly associated with terrible throws.

And now you can add another Dodger to that list.

How many balls does one throw in a lifetime? Just a regular person like yourself. Have I thrown 25,000 balls in my life (baseball, softball, whiffle)? I would say easily. And never in my life have I thrown a ball that was as off line as Belly’s wayward throw last night. I don’t buy that he didn’t have it gripped properly. You know what you do if you don’t have a ball gripped properly and you’re not an idiot? You don’t throw it. Sweat on it? Maybe that was it and it just slipped out of his hand.

Or maybe he’s got a little Sax in him?

Wonderful, cheapo win last night that was certain to send their fanbase into the deepest of doldrums……

Looks like the Tigers and the Twins played a football game.

T-Bone had a lotta bad luck this inning, but he wasn’t as sharp the second time through the LU. Por ejemplo: First time, he scared Turner with a cut FB at the hands, forcing him to spin away, while the ump called it a strike on the inside corner. Perfect. I could hear Merry Clayton screaming. Second time, the same pitch had a less terrifying lateral break, and Turner, down the barrel but not far enough down, hit a weak ass RBI bloop into RF. That time, I could hear nothing but the dodger fans at the park.

That’s some fine edged razor sharpness there!

      • xoot said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:46 pm

in the loupe, maybe. maybe not.

  3. willedav said, on July 28, 2021 at 7:52 pm

Ramos yesterday 2-5 2 doubles 2 rbis and an assist from Rf to 2b. J Davis 1-3 singled scored a run.

  4. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 7:55 pm

That was pretty funny. Alvarez couldn’t believe it. I’m surprised the ump didn’t ring him up for just being slow out of the box.

  5. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 7:56 pm

Come on Alvarez if you stay up there long enough the ump will change his mind and call it strike 3.

  6. xoot said, on July 28, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Buster has started his day off early. Damn.

  7. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:01 pm

    Don’t trade Bart.

  8. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:08 pm

Surprised nobody here seems too upset about Marte.
    We shoulda got him.
    Is Luzardo a big deal?

    • gianthead said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:18 pm

Luzardo was considered a top 20 in all of baseball prospect couple years ago. Very young still. For a rental in Marte, Marlins landed a potential big time arm…great move for them and better obviously than anyone put on the table.

      • gianthead said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:22 pm

Luzardo only turns 24 in Sept

    • xoot said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:20 pm

Luzardo was terrific with the a’s for a while, but he cooled off and got sent to vegas.

    • gianthead said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:20 pm

And maybe someone we should pursue as a free agent because the A’s aint signing him but could see the big bad Yankees landing him…he solves way more issues for them than Gallo does…

    • unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:22 pm

Which Marte? Sterling’s 32 and not really anything to build around. He’s not a platoonie though I don’t know. Nothing special. Neither is the Jesus. But don’t fuck with the Jesus.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:23 pm

Loo..He’s young 23,does have strikeout stuff but wild too.A’s sent him down to Vegas cause of just that.
If he ever gets it together and that’s a big IF he could turn out ok.Then just as easily a Bust..
Basically the A’s get Marte for free as the A’s made the Marlins pickup the balance of his money on his contract. A steal for the A’s in this one as Luzardo will probably go to AAA first..

    • willedav said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:39 pm

Nah not in on Marte and Luzardo has lot of fine tuning to be viable starter. If you look at his (marte) career splits vs. LHP, they aren’t any better than Slater. Let Kap play his platoon ball and save a prospect and pitcher or two.

  9. gianthead said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:11 pm

Of course the one game we get on tv of this series it is a fart start.

  10. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:18 pm

    Everything’s free on Bilasport!!!

  11. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:23 pm

Oh Grave digger. No hit and now no field? I guess let the Dogs have one laugher. This game is a wash.

  12. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:26 pm

Oh boy. Welcome back to not being with the big club, Sammy.

  13. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:27 pm

    Get ’em tomorrow.

  14. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:30 pm

The slo-mo of Posey taking that shot off the mask was pretty frightening.
You could see the orange paint chips flying off it.
Must be like taking a right cross from George Foreman.
    Wouldn’t shock me if he’s out awhile…

    • willedav said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:40 pm

      Yes it was.

  15. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:32 pm

And that’s why you hang on to Bart..

  16. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:35 pm

Ok time to chip away at tight pants Robin Hood!
Are not Friar Tuck let’s drink a barrel of wine instead..

  17. willedav said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:35 pm

another rough night for Vosler. with Crawford ready to come off IL tomorrow he was probably toast anyway, but yeow.

  18. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:46 pm

They could just release Tauchman instead. But we’re never going to get that lucky

  19. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:46 pm

    Huh. Long actually got
    through those innings.

  20. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:47 pm

    Still hanging around.
    Not impossible…

  21. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:49 pm

Does Wade even have a pad on that leg?

  22. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:54 pm

OK, let’s get another stupid rally.

  23. willedav said, on July 28, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Slater by himself has more HRs than Marte does. Combined with GD that has been very productive platoon. Add in salary plus fact Marte is rental that wouldn’t be around next year I’m totally against this guy. Rather see Ramos and Davis, for Dickerson and Tauchman.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:05 pm

      Now your talking Willied!
      Huge upgrade with Davis&Ramos.
Slugs 🐌 like Dickerson &Tauchman should be jettisoned sooner then later..

  24. snarkk said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:08 pm

Brebbia should not be around much longer.
The dude just doesnt get it done.
Vosler not reminding of Brooks Robinson over there at 3rd. That defense sucked, and cost a run…

  25. xoot said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:08 pm

vosler might have had some trade value before tonight.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:10 pm

Right. From a bag of balls to a slightly cracked fungo bat.

  26. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:09 pm

How can we miss Brebbia if he won’t fucking go away?

  27. Macdog said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:12 pm

    Start warming up Tauchman.

  28. snarkk said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:13 pm

OK, the Doghairs are gonna get their one. I hope.
Seriously, Brebbia? I think he has a MLB contract, but so what?
Get him the hell outta town…

  29. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:14 pm

I can’t stand Brebbia he’s like a bad rash that won’t go away! Jon that throw was fine by Vosler that was on Casali messing it up.

Brebbia go to sac and bake in the sun you moron..

  30. zumiee said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:16 pm

Brebbia is the old-fashioned lousy middle-reliever that batters used to fatten up their batting averages on.

  31. snarkk said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:16 pm

    Cueto tomorrow.
Hmmm. Pen better get ready to come in as early as the 4th. I hope no sooner than that…

  32. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:23 pm

I would absolutely bring the Sock man in to pitch the ninth…

    • Macdog said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:26 pm

      Why wait?

  33. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:26 pm

I would rather see Alyssa Nakken pitch personally..

  34. unca_chuck said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:27 pm

Enjoy this night, Brebbia. This is your last foray onto a major league diamond as a player.

    • zumiee said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:29 pm

  35. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:29 pm

The person who controls the score box in the top left corner of the picture is really quick…

  36. alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:40 pm

Oh boy an unbelievable Sock base hit moment!
As Jon said Tauchman has had his moments.I have moments to when I need to take a shit!

  37. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:50 pm

    Where are the sea gulls?

    • xoot said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:55 pm

I bet the covid famine chased them away. No junk food left overs; barren ground. The drought has probably altered their patterns, too. But they may rediscover the park before the season’s over.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 28, 2021 at 10:03 pm

There not fully vaccinated for flight takeoffs are landings?

  38. djloo27 said, on July 28, 2021 at 9:56 pm

Look for the Sock Man in the starting line up tomorrow…

    • zumiee said, on July 28, 2021 at 10:14 pm

    His farewell tour?

  40. willedav said, on July 29, 2021 at 6:55 am

mm those who have been to the O recently, say this season…pct of real vs. casual fans? 70-30 ish? too low on real fans? How many giants draw today for day game–25 30 thou? Yard just doesn’t seem as into it, despite stellar record.
