East Meeting Out West
Not much to say about that game except it’s over and we got a win….
It has come to my attention that the great MacDog is making his way out west. It is time for another Flapalooza. I’m looking at the Aug 14th game, 6:05pm start. That’s probably the only game I can go to that he’ll be here. We can fiddle around with ticket ideas later, I personally like the Club section because you can walk around. But maybe we head back to the outfield bleachers? Let’s just gauge who can go and do the rest later. MacDog I am in regardless of who else can attend.
Wish I could. I’ll be rooting from the East Coast, for y’all to bring home a win. Have a good trip Mac.
That is awesome news, Mac. I am in for the Flapalooza. I vote Club Level but will go with the majority…
Just for shits and giggles, I plugged “six tickets” into SH.
Club 203 – $80
Club 201 – $100
Club 221 – $138
Bleachers 140 – row 2 – $61.70 each…
good job Chi, looking forward to it. Let’s see what the turnout might be and then make a move on tix. I can’t believe that game is going to be a big draw, I feel like if we want to get cute with it we can wait and strike day before game. But I’m a gambler others may not want to roll that way.
I am good with rolling the dice a day before (or maybe a couple days before). Once we have a headcount and agree on location, I can buy the tix and folks can reimburse me at the game if that is cool with everyone.
Bummer we will miss some of the old guard in Unca and Snarkk.
I’ll be in Montana that weekend so I’ll miss this one.
Charlie – Are you going to be a Dental Floss Tycoon?
A mental toss flycoon.
Dude was incredible.
He was. Still one of my favorite Zappa albums (Overnight Sensation).
Can’t make it.
Hope you guys have fun and see a good game…
I’m there. I already have ticket for the game. The wife wanted the baby yoda shirt as it is Star Wars night, but she’s not going to the game. But, I’ll do what I can to join you guys.
Sweet. Sarge sighting.
That’s cool, Del. Was just thinking about reaching-out to you. We’ll definitely meet and tip a cold one.
Definitely
Glad to hear a Flapalooza is coming together for Mac’s west coast visit—have a great time!!
Cueto vs. Mason Saunders tonight. Hold on to your hats, cowboys…could be a wild one…
Buster and Craw with the night off…
1. Austin Slater (R) RF
2. Kris Bryant (R) LF
3. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
4. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
5. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
6. Thairo Estrada (R) SS
7. Steven Duggar (L) CF
8. Curt Casali (R) C
9. Johnny Cueto (R) P
The Grave Duggar vs. The Undertaker…
Why GD instead of Yaz?
Hurt again?
No idea. Have seen nothing about him being scratched due to an injury. He has played a lot without a day off, so maybe that is it…just a breather.
I won’t be able to make it to the Flapalooza. Have a great time all who go! We all want photos posted!
Flav and Chi, I’m good with whatever you decide to get re tix. And we got Sarge already there too! Yes, I saw that it was Star Wars night, that should be, uh, interesting.
Agree. I will follow Flav’s lead on seat location. Will be good to see you again, John.
BTW – I reached-out to Blade…he will be in Colorado visiting friends.
Damn. Wish I could make it. The last one was very cool. Didn’t know we’d close Pete’s Tavern for good.
They just announced a $9 flash ticket sale if you use a visa card. Obviously that would be for the view reserved 332-336. But better seats are at good prices too. $29 for bleachers, $49 for LB left field, and 69$ for LB. Doubt you’ll beat those prices.
I saw $80 club seats earlier too. Definitely some good prices….
I had never heard that Zappa song. Very cool song. It reminded me of this T Bone Burnett song that I like. It wouldn’t be surprising if Zappa had an influence on Burnett. Burnett has never really traveled in the mainstream music scene either.
T Bone B’s 1980 album was terrific, if a bit eclectic. I wore it out. His versions of his own bluesy alt-country Drivin Wheel (eventually a big hit for Emmy Lou, and a really good train song) and Come Home (I was standing at the corner of Houston and Lee / Old lady walked up to me, tried to help me cross the street) are worth the price of admission.
Still have my undoubtedly equally well worn copy. Saw him open back then for John Hiatt at a club in LA.
wow. And Hiatt had a pretty good run, didn’t he? I saw him circa 88 solo, just guitar, at that shack in Winters, the Palms?
I have seen Hiatt a few times solo. Last was the Kate Wolf festival a few years ago. Amazing every time. We have tickets to see him with the Jerry Douglas band in October (Crest Theatre in Sac). Should be a great show.
I guess it was still in Davis back then. long time gone
He opened for the Who and the Clash when I saw them in 1982. Hell of a show.
If y9ou haven’t listened to Apostrophe / Overnite Sensation, do yourself a favor. The lyrics are some of Frank’s most sexually perverse and otherwise weird (esp Apostrophe) but the musicianship is out of this world.
lyrically, it’s hard to beat anything Debbie Gibson produced on Electric Youth
Tell ’em, Flav!
lots of flappers aren’t going to get this joke nor why i cracked it
aint no dada on that train
And check out the album cover for Overnight Sensation. Some wild graphics and yes very sexual.
Agree Unca, but don’t forget songs not on Apostrophe like, Do You Like My New Car. Tough to beat lyrics like “Give it to me right here in the trunk of your Gremlin. .. Give me. .. Give me the enchilada with the pickle sauce shoved up and down the donkey’s ass until he can’t cum anymore!”
now those lyrics go deep into the lesser equine soul
hey, LIttle Village was good. Friend of mine used to rave about their shows at the Sweetwater. I was busy working.
Little Village with Ry, Keltner and John Hyatt? I loved that band, but I heard their CD made it to a lot of used bins (not mine). I’m a huge fan of Ry Cooder and also Jim Keltner. Got to see them and talk snare drums with Keltner at a John Goddard party at the Sweetwater a very long time ago. What a night that was for me.
I’ll say again that I think it is BS for Kappler to not play Posey and Crawford tonight against Bum.
Schedule be damned, they can rest tomorrow’s game.
This is a cool opportunity for Giants fans, and Kappler is sticking his head up his schedule to not make this happen. Hopefully, it will happen in SF when the Dbacks come later in the season…
totally agree. And you KNOW Posey and Craw want to face their old mate.
Jay Jackson got a ration of racist twittershit after he blew the lead last night.
I don’t think he’s up to this position he’s been given, but that’s based on his lack of success I’ve seen the last several appearances. I think his hold on his Pen position is clearly in play.
That said, this racist BS is moronic. Certain leaders and their actions in this country over the past few years have released lots of racist nitwits from under their former rocks…
https://www.knbr.com/2021/08/03/giants-reliever-jay-jackson-reveals-racist-messages-he-received-after-tuesdays-game/
Jackson’s response was pretty damn great.
One or both of them will likely pinch hit, but what a missed opportunity for all involved. Really bad optics from Kapler.
They are all SF legends I doubt they really give a shit and are enjoying their day off. If they really wanted to be out there they would have said something.
Damn, that gets my vote for POTD.
two thumbs down from the guy who actually picks the POTD
LMAO…throwin’ down the gauntlet….
lqtm!
Maybe they did say something…
Agree. 2nd the POTD…
Long season,Kotter is pretty damm adamant of not starting Posey 3 games in a row, and Crawford can’t be out there everyday no matter how we all feel.I’m fine with it, They still are shoving every RH bat but GraveDuggar at Undertaker..
A GraveDigger is never a a match against “The Undertaker”
Well, Buster wouldn’t have done that.
The Cueto-Casali battery is making a mess of this inning.
That was totally stupid by Casali, your not playing hockey out there.Just cost them 2 runs..
Casali took his mask off and didn’t throw it away. It then became an extension of his hand as he gathered the ball in. More weird than stupid.
Buster did have a pretty ridiculous passed ball with a runner at third yesterday.
Pretty sure that ended up being called a wild pitch on Disco…
Really?!? Well, I guess one of them isn’t a HOF candidate!
Doh! You’re right. Just checked and it was a passed ball.
Bum’s hair is really short…
Epic jinx job by Flemm…
Damn Solano.
Miller said there’s a Thursday deadline on the flash ticket sale for you Mac-A-Loozers…
Congrats!
“Sydney McLaughlin broke her world record Wednesday and won the Olympic 400-meter-hurdles gold, finishing in 51.46 seconds”
I like how it happened in the future.
The future is now, Zum. For some of us, anyway….
You all are just so yesterday…
Hah!
From Jersey!
Sorry I won’t be able to join the Macalooza, John. Geez, I can’t even get out of my own neighborhood these days…
Ha, yeah Paul, I wasn’t expecting you to make it.
Is that John Mayer on guitar with T-bone?
Yes
Thanks Unca, that Zappa video got me through the last half-inning. Nothing like Frank jamming while the Giants nearly botch a rundown.
Didn’t expect that.
Don’t forget Bum is gopher prone…
A bit of a mask redemption for Casali!
What’d MadBum throw, 5 pitches that inning?
He’s one lucky wash up.
lol
Corned beef makes a Flap appearance on consecutive nights.
That’s a pretty straight and narrow menu.
I remember the malts mostly. Dig the 5 cent premium for Dogs in the Stands.
“Premium” Draft 16 oz. = $1.10
My inflation calculator says that in 2021, inflation since 1979 would make that beer’s current price = $4.12.
I don’t think the Giants are using the CPI inflator to price their beers…
Those Carnation Chocolate Malt were the bomb back then, only thing they could of improved on was the lame 2 inch wooden spoon that came with it..
They jacked up the prices after a winning season in ’78.
Johnny-Carson matchup.
I know it was the right thing to do to let MadBum go. But he was just such a great Giant and I will always wish him well and also wish he was still with the team. Recently watched vid of all of his post-season appearances. Still blows me away.
Gee, thanks, Chuck; just saw your pic on FB and now I can’t get “I could drink a case of you” out of my head…
I’d like to see the Grave Duggar leg out an XBH here and spark a sleepy Giant team…
wow. some houdini shit there.
That was excruciating watching Sanchez pitch.
Aaron Sanchez sure is a lucky f—k getting out of that with the help of ump on an obvious ball 4 which would of brought in a run! And Kappy not even having a guy warming up was crazy..
I’d like to see Bryant get a hit,
I still trip alittle when I see the Giants hitting coach Kai Corriea sitting next to Kapler with the same glasses on and same beard..it’s just weird looking.
Whatever the fuck this is, get on with it. If Ruf had reacted, I might buy it. Otherwise, this is a stall/fuck with.
That was weird.
How the hell is this still a ballgame?
When did *Tyler* become the name of seemingly half the people in the US?
I actually know someone in Jersey whose name is Tyler. He’s a he. He’s marrying a Tyler. She’s a she.
My cousin Terry married a girl named Terry.
If she divorces Tyler and marries Stephen Tyler, she would be Tyler Tyler Tyler.
Donnie tearing it up tonight.
Damn.
What a dud.
It’s a good thing you’re going to more than one game at Oracle.
I’m making sure one’s against the Rockies.
Houston up 1-0 on the dogs, top of the 8th. Someone threw an inflatable garbage can on the field.
fucking whiners. the bums were stealing signs during that WS too, just ineptly. But Altuve’s buzzer, man, that hurts. All those dramatic PS HRs that year — wasted cheers. GEICO should’ve done an ad showing the gecko devastated by his hero’s flaw.
MadBum would be a 3 on the Giants this year, moving up the way things are trending. Best to him. Better to us, I hope. Gasman and Gimme Shelter have been fading.
I think today was another of those BS milestones — if the Giants go .500 from now on they’ll win 100. Thanks. Found money, house money, gold in the bank — no. They need to win this series. And others like it on down the line.
Houston up 3-0!!!
bang the bum slowly
A’s no fucking help.
I have met a guy named Les who married a woman named Leslie, a guy named Paul who married Paula, and a guy named Tom who married a woman named Tommie. Absolutely true, not kidding. I met them all many years ago. All three couples are still married.
Wasn’t Willie Mays married to Mae Mays?
Yes!
Yep 3-0 in Smell LA..
The inflatable trash cans were hilarious replacing the beach balls!
In the stands and on the field they’re fans are relentless tonight, even throwing a Correia foul ball back on the field which got that idiot tossed out..
That Astros championship should have been vacated, but Manfred lacked the guts to do it.
What the Astros did was the equivalent of playing a game of cards with marked cards. That shouldn’t have been allowed to stand. But they were allowed to get away with it. That just sucks.
There were the Astros who were directly doing the fraud, but also guys like Verlander who looked the other way, and now he has a World Series ring that is basically completely fake. I doubt many of the ‘17 Astros are proudly showing those rings around.
There was one guy on that team that finally found some moral fiber and spilled the beans, but even he was pretty late with it. But at least he did it. He couldn’t live with the fraud. He had moral conscience.
He may have had no choice,
There’s a lot of fiber in beans…
I think Frank Zappa had a thing or two to say about purveyors of “moral fiber.”
Yes that would be the snitch Mike Fiers who blew the garbage can lids off!
And he still got his tarnished W/S ring.I forgot did he blow the whistle after he received his ring I assume?
Good question.
I can’t even be upset about losing to Bum.
Sanchez provided a useful service…
