A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Flap Nation Unite

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 15, 2021

Last night was a celebration of baseball and of life. Both intertwined, one can’t exist without the other. People say the Flap started all of this but that isn’t right. Baseball started all of this. It’s been a part of us our entire lives starting with the people who introduced us to the game. Last night was just the most recent way we chose to celebrate our love for baseball. Our team lost but we won. Again.

I could not have said it better, Flav. As I was telling you, Sarge and Mac last night, finding the Flap and making the friends that I have through this blog is one of my life’s grander blessings. I have much or which I am grateful, but this family is right up there.

Hope all went well with the lost keys fiasco, Flav.

It is always great to hang with some Flappers at the yard, and last night, even with the loss, was no exception.

Now let’s get back to winning games and series.

Hey all, I had a wonderful time at the game. It was great to meet Flavor and Sarge and meet up again with Chi. There’s no better fans to hang out with at a game than all you here, and last night was no exception, I cherish any opportunity to do so. The ballpark is pretty damn awesome too, I hope to do a little more roaming for the Mets games, maybe hit the team store too. Obviously the less said about the game itself the better, I lost track of how many DPs the Giants hit into. It was interesting to see Bryant in RF. The crowd was fun too, as I told Chi there were a lot of young people which was good to see, everyone was waiting to erupt, but that never happened. Today my buddy and me are going up to Sonoma, we’ll be seeing a Chuck Prophet concert tonight. Anyone know him? Chi didn’t, haha.

Willie Mays Is Up at Bat is one of Prophet’s local hits. Lots of SF history in it.

Also, what a tremendous post by Flav. You’re right Chi, couldn’t have said it any better.

Great to meet you Mac! And definitely great to see Flavor and Chi again. Even with the loss, we could have done a lot worse spending a Saturday evening. Awesome being at the yard and awesome being a part of his community.

Now all we gotta do is have a flapper take down the O-Jo meal contest. I think we got several bullets in there today. Let’s go!

  11. zumiee said, on August 15, 2021 at 2:29 pm

Wow- La Stella BARELY missed a grand slam.

  12. djloo27 said, on August 15, 2021 at 2:30 pm

Mets/Dodgers is the ESPN game tonight.

  14. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 2:32 pm

Yeah Mr.Spits delivers( wonder how many saliva gloves he goes thru in a season?), but like Webb the other day the players will razz him to hit the weight room..

  15. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 2:43 pm

That baseball jacket Wood’s wearing is hideous especially when u don’t need one on.
They looked ok in the 60’s 70’s but modern days they look like Uncle Guido opening up his trench coat on a corner hustling watches, jewelry, a flask of booze 🥃 etc..

  16. djloo27 said, on August 15, 2021 at 2:53 pm

I bet they never checked if the pitcher had control of the ball.
    Not so sure he did…

    • xoot said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:00 pm

I think he did, but that was the most impressive part of the play and Kruk and Kuip never mentioned it. The pitcher did show the snow cone to the umps at the end.

  17. xoot said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:01 pm

Wilbur sure looked dumbfounded watching that fair ball bounce past him down the line.

  18. xoot said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:05 pm

    fuck. talk about your woodshed.

  19. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:07 pm

One batter 2 many pull Wood’s ass!
Wtf Kappy?? Blackmon was 11-24 against Wood now 12-25!! Fuck the LH theory there you blew it!!

  24. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:22 pm

Gail’s right lol 😂 that play should never be anything but caught..
And now Slater makes them pay with a smoking double off the wall in right!

  25. Flavor said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:25 pm

man do we have a better 2 strike hitter than La Stella?

  26. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:33 pm

Wilbur says I can do that too with 2 strikes.

  27. Flavor said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:35 pm

    Belt back to sucking again

  28. alleykat69 said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:41 pm

Man baseloaded no outs and the squealed like a pig, like the poor guy in deliverance..weee weee

  29. xoot said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:45 pm

Those two comments, in tandem, sound funny.

Would Wilbur have picked that shot at 3B as easily Longo did? Maybe.

  30. Macdog said, on August 15, 2021 at 3:59 pm

  34. djloo27 said, on August 15, 2021 at 8:16 pm

The great MacDog is definitely East Coast awesome.
    He’s any awesome.
But old school Brooklyn is a very different breed.
    It’s close to extinct.
    And who gives a shit?
    Not me…

  35. djloo27 said, on August 15, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Is there a such thing as old school San Francisco?

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 15, 2021 at 9:04 pm

When I first lived in SF starting in ’96, I rented the top flat in a 2-flat house on an alley off of Fillmore. My landlady and her husband (Gloria and Gene) lived in the downstairs flat. They were in their 80s. They both literally were born on that alley, though a different house. They had both never lived anywhere else. Old Italian-American San Francisco blood. They knew everyone, including Gavin Newsome (he owned several businesses on Fillmore at the time). Whenever there was a community meeting about something, the neighborhood leaders always invited Gloria, and she always went, and always had something to say about the old days. She never bemoaned all the development around Cow Hollow and the Marina, but she always kept it real. She was definitely old school San Francisco. I miss those two, they were real people, nothing trendy about ’em…

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 15, 2021 at 9:06 pm

Gloria also knew Joe Dimaggio, who lived not far from that alley. Had a lot of stories about Joe. Another real old school SF guy…

      • djloo27 said, on August 15, 2021 at 9:12 pm

Joltin’ Joe has left and gone away.
        Hey, hey, hey…

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 15, 2021 at 9:39 pm

Yes he has. I was living there when he died. Huge service and celebrations in the ‘hood, and at St. Peter and St. Paul church in North Beach. Favorite Son and all that…
