A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Dog Days

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 21, 2021

Just not our night. No timely hits. Wood was fine. Using two of our ex-mates to beat us was particularly irritating.

All the Dodgers do is win. This is starting to slip away…..

Pacific Classic today! Man, there was a stretch in my life where I went down there every year for this race. Del Mar is just a magical place.

Yep. The pitching is good enough, we have some solid hitters, but man the Dodgers are relentless. We seem to be the only team that can handle them and we only have 3 more games. Got to take these next 2.

  2. chipower9 said, on August 21, 2021 at 7:38 am

No one should be surprised. We knew the bums would make a run. Definitely need to keep winning series which means taking the next two. Taking ONE game against the fucking A’s is never easy. They always play us tough.

Gausman against Manaea today. Time to get back on the good foot!

I’m fucking tired about hearing about LA and there queer baseball uni’s. We Still have the best record in baseball and till they prove otherwise Fuck LÁ!!!

The Giants City Connect unis are popular with millennials.
    Speaking of which….

Pacific Classic looks like one helluva betting race.
    Posting picks, Flavor?

    • Flavor said, on August 21, 2021 at 9:36 am

Yes. Later. And there a huge mandatory p6 payout today, should be 9 mil in the kitty when the flap falls. I typically only play p4s but I will also have a p6 today. Gotta

over on mlb.com on widget to right is “Mini Cueto” story with twitter pic of 30 seconds of kid pitching in LLWS. I saw this game live yesterday before Giants game came on and the kid involved who pitched 2 innings–good for a laugh.
He’s RHP, raises left leg then stops, holds, shakes shoulders yada yada.
    Enjoy the shimmy.

It would be great if we could take the division but if the Dogs pitching holds up i doubt we do it. Just remember at the start of the season no one figured we would be in the wild card mix and unless we totally implode we are sitting pretty nice. Was last nights game the first time we lost in our orange unis?

    • Winder said, on August 21, 2021 at 10:13 am

I hope the A’s move to Las Vegas.

    • chipower9 said, on August 21, 2021 at 1:51 pm

They were not wearing those unis last night. Those are home, only, and they are still undefeated in them….

      • Winder said, on August 21, 2021 at 2:27 pm

        Thanks. I forgot they played in Oakland and didn’t listen to the game last night;

    1. Austin Slater (R) CF
    2. Buster Posey (R) DH
    3. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
    4. Darin Ruf (R) LF
    5. Kris Bryant (R) RF
    6. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
    7. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
    8. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
    9. Curt Casali (R) C

    • willedav said, on August 21, 2021 at 11:16 am

GD (as DH) went 3-4 last night and Estrada had 2 hits and a HR for Sac in losing effort. Entire starting OF of Tauchman Davis and Ramos went 0-11. Some of above definitely in line for consideration next year, depending on what Bryant does. Baggs said with uncertainly over salary cap etc., any negotiations with Bryant and a big deal unlikely to happen by Dec. 1, when current agreement expires.

      • djloo27 said, on August 21, 2021 at 11:21 am

If there was ever a season that expanding the rosters to 40 in September makes sense, isn’t this the one?
        Or am I missing something?

      • willedav said, on August 21, 2021 at 1:13 pm

Exactly Loo, especially for pitching staffs. Instead it’s endless on/off the 10 day IL nonsense. Plus in Giants case it would be great experience for younger guys to get a taste of pennant race.

Joel Rosario wins first race back in town on 8-1 shot. Has bunch of mounts today too.

  10. alleykat69 said, on August 21, 2021 at 1:42 pm

Boy did the Giants sure needed that 2 run bomb from Bryant, after the A’s were bitch slapping them around in the 1st..

    • chipower9 said, on August 21, 2021 at 1:52 pm

Need a quick clean inning from Gausman…

  11. Macdog said, on August 21, 2021 at 2:52 pm

Back in Jersey! It’s frustrating seeing the lead disappear while simultaneously watching both games.

  12. Macdog said, on August 21, 2021 at 2:55 pm

And even more frustrating seeing the Giants keep giving away runs.

  16. zumiee said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:12 pm

That was a lot of bad baseball in one half-inning.

    • Macdog said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:17 pm

      The ineptitude hat trick.

  17. snarkk said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:15 pm

Gyros continue to F up solid scoring opportunities not involving HRs.
This 8th inning F up of baseball execution with 0 down and men on 1st and 2nd was a total joke…

    • djloo27 said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:18 pm

      Absolutely mind numbing, Snarkk.
Going to commercial, Javy said Giants are where they want to be in the line up.
      We shall see…

  18. Macdog said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:28 pm

    Wow Wade!

  19. snarkk said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:30 pm

I was actually, no joke, thinking of how an HR call of Wade’s would sound, and then he did it.
    Guy is clutch city …

  20. snarkk said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:32 pm

    OK, McGoo is in.
    Holding breath, and crossing fingers…

  21. willedav said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:32 pm

Giants whacking bombs off A’s pen, gotta love it. Just what they do–stop playing for singles. Really wonder if Casali bunted on his own there or not.

  22. zumiee said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:32 pm

His HRs are majestic things of beauty.

Wade hitting jacks at a rate of one every 14 ABs…

Marte dribbles comebacker, game over. McGee 27 saves out of 31…If Steph Curry is at FT line, where he hits 90 pct of them, I figure it’s going in. Said this before–I’ll take McGee over Jansen Melancon and SF pen over Brewers.

  29. snarkk said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:45 pm

Top 5 win of the year !
    Wade is gold.
Belt seems expendable with Wade on board next year.
McGoo tamps down the reach to Pepto Bismol for another game…

  30. snarkk said, on August 21, 2021 at 4:57 pm

Hand it to Belt, though, too.
He teased the base on balls ahead of Wade, added that run to make it a 2 run HR game winnerfor Wade.
And Kapp could have let Ruf hit, he can hit RHPs and already homered today, but he made the call to Wade and it worked…

    Love it!!!!
My kids were at Cubs game today Lighting warning and the lower bowl ay Wrigley bailed. The kids went and sat right behind Cubs dugout. Chanted for Duffy. Said they missed him being on the Giants. He turned around and gave then a nod and an air fist bump. Love it my kids are baseball fans!!

Mr. Olive Garden utters the cliche. Maybe eventually that 70s sports guy will quit, now that it’s old. I dislike the way he uses it.
I’d never heard of this old “show” until I saw an ad for reruns while switching past CNN. Four years ago!

Longoria with a bruised / inflamed thumb from an AB against the Mets.
Day to day, no break or tear.
Tired of this dude. He’s been repeatedly injured since he came over to the Giants.
Chronic plantar fasciitis is always looming in the background.
I think they’d do just fine without him, they certainly did for 2 months this season.
In the offseason I’d trade him and his huge deal with one year left for a couple of decent minor leaguers, put Bryant at 3rd Wade at first in platoon with Ruf. Low ball tender to Belt, let somebody take him and get a draft pick back. Use Longo money to get a starter…

    • zumiee said, on August 21, 2021 at 7:24 pm

I’m all for it, but ain’t nobody gonna want Longoria, other than if the Giants cover just about all of his pay.

      • djloo27 said, on August 21, 2021 at 7:42 pm

        Maybe he’ll pull a Renteria…

  34. willedav said, on August 21, 2021 at 9:57 pm

Longoria got hurt in 10th inning Wed., when one of Mets closer Diaz’s 100 mph fastballs nicked his hand and the bat at same time. The guy throws freaking hard–the sliders are at 90. Pitch was called foul ball and he wound up popping out.

His previous injury to shoulder was caused by his own teammate Crawford colliding with him. Lot of big name players this season have gotten hurt, including many younger ones in Giants own division
He still has an OPS of .902, one of top 5 on entire team, and plays solid defensive 3b. Ain’t going anywhere.

    • chipower9 said, on August 21, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Agree on all points. I am sure the Giants would have to eat all or most of his salary, and that makes no damned sense at all, IMO.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 22, 2021 at 12:32 pm

Farhan got Atl to take all of Melonhead’s salary.
