.500 Guaranteed
Belt hitting 2 bombs in honor of his late grand mammy is about as good as it gets and is par for the course for this magical season.
We hit the 81 win mark. Which optimistic pollyanna Flapper had 81 wins? We could lose out, 37 losses in a row and .500 would still have blown my pick out of the water….
At 7:13 est, Belt’s moon shot lit up 1/3 of the Giant attendee fans including myself and it surly felt like we were in Oracle. And then the roof came down on the Mets as 3 more bombs and 14 more hits sealed their fate.
Yeah, back when we all tested our count on wins I had, I believe 85. Guess I needed to put more thought to that.
If you had 85, you’re a rock star. I believe I had 77 and that was tapping into my optimistic side big time.
I think I had 79 and thought I was being optimistic with that number….
I had 80. Pessimistic about the pen
Fucking bums won again. Damned Padres…come on grow some fucking balls and BEAT LA!
And yes like I thought a few weeks back the Reds have now caught the complete and epic collapse of the Padres to take over the final W/C spot. They even fired they’re pitching coach Larry Rothschild ( many years with the Smankees) with 5 weeks to go? Think it was deeper then that to make him the fall guy..
The Padres got one hit off Urias last night before Roberts yanked him, and have to face Buehler tonight. top 5 hitters of lineup went 0-17. Machado did get robbed of 2 run bomb by Pollock who leaped over fence to make catch. They had tying runs on 2 outs in 8th but Cronenworth struck out on pitch up and in that wasn’t a strike.
Padres used 8 pitchers and opener. Against LA??? wtf? They are starting Snell tonight, Mr. 90 pitches in 4-5 innings/not going to face lineup third time through order. What kind of a game plan is this?
Couple days ago at end of thread Loo had a beauty—“It’s not the game you grew up with.”
The whole concept of openers shows how game has devolved over time, with pitch count nonsense. On a staff with 13 pitchers, there aren’t 5 of them who can get through a lineup twice and finish 5 innings?
Look at what Long did for Giants last night–though it is conceivable that says more about Mets than SF, even with Lindor and Baez in there.
It isn’t that they are throwing too many pitches, it’s that they are constantly in trouble. Gausman especially. Sure, his pitch count is high, but walks, errors, and whatnot lead to stress innings and to try and get a guy 6 innings when the wheels are barely on would lead to big innings from the other team. IOW they aren’t getting pulled because their pitch count is high, they are getting pulled because they are not getting outs.
Starters Yu Darvish, Dinelson Lamet and Chris Paddack and 14 other pitchers are on the IR. They have just run into a buzzsaw of injuries.
True, but after missing out on Scherzer (whom they thought they had locked up) they only added Hudson the reliever at deadline. If anybody needed SP help to stay in it, it was them.
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) RF
2. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
3. Kris Bryant (R) 3B
4. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
7. Curt Casali (R) C
8. Tommy La Stella (L) 2B
9. Johnny Cueto (R) P
Wow. Baez is on glue.
He’s always been dumb
Guessing 433?
WTF?????????
uh oh.
Fuck. I was behind.
fuuuuuuck. Cueto shoulda been in line for the win. But Jesus. Again, these outings are not about the pitch count, these are struggles of our SPs getting through 5 innings.
Cueto gave up one unearned run and he had most dangerous guy in the lineup ground out on harmless ball to 3b. Not like Mets were whacking his pitches off the walls. It’s totally pitch count baseball.
Not buying it. He put runners on every inning and was struggling to find the zone. His pitch count wasn’t even that high.
Walker rightfully pissed.
Could seal Rojas’ fate…
This is shaping up to a crazy inning they need to take advantage of!
Wow pulling Walker and doesn’t he look pissed 😠 can’t blame him the D let him down, but that’s cool 😎
Yessss!!!!!!!!! Crawfish!!
Cookie Rojas done crumbled . . .
That’s not going to make Walker any happier!
Crawford 1st pitch tomahawk for the the 2 run double!!
Slater looks just like O’Neill. Did he try to sell not getting hit?
Ok wtf is Crawford doing on the bases lately?
Just killed this inning!
Walker won’t be sending a box of Cookies to Rojas for Christmas unless there poisoned..
ooooohhhhhhhh fuuuuuuuck.
How to kill an inning. WTF? Crawfish did that a couple days ago.
Yup…
One more fucking run here.
Crawford is a little prone to base running mistakes, but it’s not the year to nitpick…
Those are just beyond weird, though. He’s in scoring position. No outs. Why is he running? He’s obviously doing that on his own. I mean, he’s never been a threat to steal, so what gives?
I don’t have the first damn clue, Chuck…
Good eye, Lindor…
The good, the bad and the Leone.
Never did I have more mixed feelings about a baseball card…
lol. Lanier was just before my time, but my sister’s friends weren’t very high on him. Decent fielder but no bat whatsoever. Schofield was on the Pirates by the time I barely noticed him.
The Good Leone …Missed some of this game did Miller just say 5 DP in 7 innings??
Correct!
Is Conforto that bad of an outfielder?
He makes Dick look like a GG..
McCovey ’62?
Speier and Fuentes.
Listening on the radio on way home from work. Mets announcers ripping their own manager. “once in a while it’s time to close the laptop and watch the game. Walker pissed he was pulled after what should be 2 outs. That was BEFORE the Crawford hit. Apparently Rojas didn’t watch Snell pitch game 6 in the WS!!
Yeah, Think Matt Williams pulling Zimmerman in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs.
Walker was dealing and had given up one HR and a couple cheapie hits.
Wow Easy work by Rodgers but will it be for McGoo?
As the Stomach Turns . . .
Not that anyone should care but my 4:55 guess was one just foot off.
Bryant’s homer was 434 feet.
I’m very sharp tonight…
Nice job Loo!
Your sister and her friends were right Chuck!
I unfortunately saw some of Lanier’s game and he sucked as a hitter.Thank god Speier took over in 71!!
Jose Pagan for washed up Schofield still nauseates…
That drop was dedicated to Belt’s late grandfather…
What a cluster fuck Jesus that cannot freaking happen!!
That’s on GG Dick
MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the fuck Dick?!?
Slater has to make that call. Fucking give it away.
Dickerson is an idiot.
Game should be over twice..
If the Mets don’t score with 5 outs in the 9th . . .
Torture…unneeded torture…
Fuuuuuuuuuuck. Alonso is looking dead red. Throw change ups.
Cousin Flav in deep shit….
Does he have ONE curve ball?
Hernandez and Darling are so fuckin good…
Cousin Flavor Saver! Fuck…
Yes 🙌 McGoo gets it done despite his bad news bears teammates!
Another series taken!
Giants torture continues as my BP blows up!!🌡🩸
Big fucking WHEW!
Wow………. 2 games worth of error in that inning. And we STILL win.
Hooo doggies.
It weren’t purty, but got er done.
Another series win. 9th straight!
Go Padres!
I’ll listen to them tomorrow.
Caught the end of the Darling/Hernandez broadcast, and they weren’t as down on pulling Walker as I thought they’d be since they went with their best pen guy.
Met PG host Zeile just said it was “the worst move of the year”…
Bet they weren’t endorsing Cookie Rojas for a Just for Men commercial though.
Walker’s dramatic disrespect for Rojas was terrible to see.
Darling mentioned it…
If there was a WAR-like stat for Fuck Ups, tonight’s game would be a 10.
Great opening post from denniszu at the top of this thread.
82 wins and a guaranteed winning season!!!
Winning percentage now .651
McGee with save 29 out of 33 and had to work extra to get it at that. Jam shot pop tart retires Alonso.
Rojas has some questions to answer.
dudes, I know I said I wouldn’t say shit about Cousin Flavor going forward and I’m not really but come on, what are we doing here? In the post season can you see this dude shutting it all down? I’m so depressed right now. We are RIGHT THERE. We just need a lock down guy.
i miss Bee-Wheezy
his 93 with cut, as he used to brag, wouldn’t much cut it now.
Walker under control in PG press conference, but as far as being pulled he has answered “it is what it is” 5 times and counting…
this is a mildly political comment but whatever I can do what I want. I feel SO FUCKING AWFUL for all the animals in Afghanistan who are being abandoned right now. Yeah yeah, human beings are supposed to be more important. But you know what? Not to me……
The human race is mostly crap…
I guess I sort of feel the same way about the wild animals getting torched in the huge Calif wild fires. But stock?
Kinda the same thing. That’s the wild, weird wild shit happens in the wild. A fucking house cat? Or some rad old dog? And it’s happening all over the country. It’s awful to me.
In a fight between a coyote or wildcat with a pet or stock animal, I’ll take the wild one every time. Aren’t the pets and stock just emotional or economical extensions of us? WTF are we, compared to them? They’re completely blameless. We sure as shit aren’t. lol.
that’s my point, the blameless shouldn’t be abandoned or killed. You ever taken an animal to be put down? It’s the worst fucking moment in the world. I just can’t imagine these fucking beautiful creatures spending their last moments freaking out wondering where their owners are to protect/save them. Wild animals don’t have that happen
I think the animals in Afghanistan are closer to their wild brethren than the pampered ones out here. They are pretty much feral. It’s not like it is suburbia being overturned into chaos. It is minor chaos being overturned into major chaos.
This really is a different kind of season for the Giants. Just about any other time vs. the Mets, and Loo can probably back me on this, there’s no way in hell the Giants all but hand the game to the Mets in the 9th inning and still get away with a win. The improbable season keeps getting more improbabler.

I appreciate what Cousin Flavor has done this year. But nobody fears him. We need our closer to be feared a little. Right?
If I died hanging off a plane trying to escape my homeland I’d feel ten times worse for my 2 cats I left behind to die in my abandoned house. I mean, fuck me right?
i’m not against the plane dangling guys, you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. But if they had animals at home, come on, you’re gonna leave them? To die? I wouldn’t leave my family, I wouldn’t leave my animals, period, Unless the plan is to escape and come back soon to get them or bring EVERYONE to where I was going. I guess that makes sense but it’s not realistic
Cats can fend for themselves. So can dogs. You think the animal population over there was living the high life and is now being taken away?
Is there any pitcher currently anywhere in the system who could possibly be tried at closer between now and the end of the season? Nominees, anyone?
nope. that shit sailed at the trade deadline.
Cousin Flavor is all good with me.
And he has great genetics…
he does. The largest headed men go the furthest in life, I think that’s documented by science.
If we see Doval, watch out.
I don’t think any closers are feared nowadays.
They all throw 100 and they all fail at times…
OK, Melonhead and TFLR don’t throw 100 but are saving tons of games.
Wouldn’t take either one over CF and I doubt they’re feared by anyone…

Tough to read but by save % only Hader and Reyes better than CF in all MLB. Sorry Craig. Hope this makes you feel a bit better!
Just seems strange that with all the pitchers on the major’s and minor’s rosters, none of ’em can reliably throw a shutdown inning or two every other day or so….
Like DJ said, this isn’t 2010 baseball. Or even 2015 baseball.
This is k-bomb-walk baseball. No middle ground.
CF at 87.5 % Hader 96.4 Reyes 93.3
We are what we is. Mr. Magoo or Mr. Rogers should he falter. Kinda similar to Casilla and Romo when they were interchangeable (for a while) in 2012.
