Can’t Separate From Them
Quite a bizarre game in SD. I didn’t see any of it but if you check the boxscore you’re just left scratching your head how that could happen with those 2 offenses…..Would have been nice if the Pads had been able to hang the L on the front of the A there but it doesn’t seem like those dudes are capable of losing anymore.
Cousin Flavor sealed the deal for us, sorta, right? We’re still all in on him?
McGee had to get 5 freaking outs and retired Mets best hitter and one of supreme HR guys on the planet with game on the line. Hitters may not “fear” him (who cares?) but more importantly they can’t square him up either even when they think they know what’s coming. Alonso could do nothing but foul fastballs off and then got jammed and popped up weakly to end game. What more do you want out of the guy? 29-33 save ops, .88%
Sorry, but I do not miss Wilson one iota, way more stressful than McGee.
He throws strikes and doesn’t give up a lot of hits. He doesn’t seem to get perturbed when things aren’t going well. He has a decent number of Ks. The HR ratio is back to normal. Something terrible will probably happen to at least one team’s closer in the playoffs. Let’s hope it’s not CF.
It’s not like McGee has suddenly turned into Luis Trivino.
Man, Giants must have rattled A’s something fierce. 4 Ls in a row, 3 blown saves, and Yanks in town for 4. yikes
The Padres look like a defeated bunch. Hosmer and Frazier look terrible. Machado and Tatis have cooled off.
I am all in on Cousin Flav. As WillieD said, the dude has converted 29 of 33 saves, and I love that he does not get rattled (for example, last night with the bases juiced).
Fricking Padres…come on and win at least one against the damned bums. Bums used 10 pitchers last night. Padres nine.
I actually watched most of that crazy SD/Bum game. Both teams had runners thrown out at the plate in extras, both team used pitchers to hit, no choice as they both burned thru 10 pitchers. And just when u think its first over as the Bums take a 2 run lead, Tatis jr hits a 2 run bomb with 2 outs to tie it up again! That’s when I said F—-K this and went to bed..
Flav—who was out there to be had at trading deadline that would be an upgrade to Uncle Flavor?
For Kimbrell, Z would have had to come up with something better than that Elk Grove stud Madrigal they ended up getting for him—and that wasn’t happening.
McGee does keep an even keel demeanor when he throws, which u have to have in pressure situations which all closers go thru. When 2 plays that should of been made could of been devastating he just shrugs it off and then just goes into his “love for the game moment and reset the mechanism”
29-33 88% is getting it done that’s all that matters.Giants must of felt pretty good with both Rodgers&McGee at the backend not to go after a Kimbrel and weakening their farm system more.
Yeah, I was not a fan of going out and spending big for a Kimbrell type closer. I was happy using the two-headed monster of Uncle Flav and Mr. Rogers.
Setup guys much improved too–Alavarez (one pitch out after replacing Cueto) Garcia Leone, even Littell. He got lit up by Pirates late July, got sent down and since then been great in August: 10 1/3 innings only 1 earned run given up.
Littell has only given up 1 hit in August, 3 BBs 12 Ks.
I don’t get how the Slater/Dick thing could happen at the major league level. They weren’t running into the gap and converging. This fly was an easy can of corn. How could they run into each other?
Ridiculous, in 9th inning of a one run game no less.
Dick correctly called Yaz off a ball the night before.
Maybe he got overconfident.
Doesn’t seem like Yaz has played a ton of CF either.
But in the major leagues, this shouldn’t happen…
Pads now 15 games behind SF. top 5 in order last night 2-27.
Btw Loo at yard tonight?
Can’t go and feeling like a disappointed alcoholic 9 year old…
But who goes down (besides Shitwood) when DeScaffolding and Gasman come back? I’m thinking Littell.
I feel like Littell’s been excellent in all types of situations lately.
Rosters expand to 28 in just a few days…
Depending on when they come back, it might not matter since we’re a week away — next Wednesday, I think — from rosters going to 28.
Has Cousin Flavor morphed into Uncle Flavor?
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) RF
2. Tommy La Stella (L) 2B
3. Kris Bryant (R) 3B
4. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
5. Wilmer Flores (R) 1B
6. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
7. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
8. Curt Casali (R) C
9. Alex Wood (R) P
Go Padres!
Is Buster ailing?
Last news I saw was the sore knee when he was removed in the 5th on Tuesday. I think they are just being precautious…at least I hope so…
This is pretty funny. In ALL the categories, ONE Giant is mentioned. Crawfish as the 2nd best SS. And it isn’t like this came out in June. This came out today. Especially funny is this:
Best Manager
1. Craig Counsell, Brewers
2. Dave Roberts, Dodgers
3. Jayce Tingler, Padres
Dave Roberts being 2nd best NL manager? Such a challenge to win games with a $40 gazillion payroll. And the Tingler pick? Really? Not aging well as the Pads are another team that won the offseason yet is fading out of the race. Counsell? Sure, why not? The Brewers have been in the playoffs the last few years, so it isn’t like their record is a shock.
Not sure what Mr. Kotter would have to do to be considered, but hey, the under-the-radar approach worked for us in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

Pfffttt…fuck that and we’ll keep flying under the radar…
Yeah, better to be unnoticed, but this is pretty funny that the team with the best record in baseball is noted for nothing remarkable from the execs.
multi reed player and bandleader Branford Marsalis is 61 today.
Really enjoyed Trio Jeepy cd from 1989 with fantastic drummer Jeff Tain Watts.
Mets lost 6 of 7 to LA and have dropped 4 of 5 to Giants.
Damn!!! Wasting no time. Yard sale for Bryant.
Criminy, Yaz is striking out a ton. Seems either an HR, or a K, and not much in between…
He looks so bad sometimes.
He swings himself right off his feet.
Does he think he’s Reggie Jackson?
What a joke by B/A as the Giants are total shit by they’re stupid evaluations!
Geez the last I looked they still are “The BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL RECORD WISE”!! Guess they stunk in 2010,2012,2014 as the underdogs in all 3 W/S!!!
And the NL Manager of the Year? Total BS!!
Manager of the year is Gabe Kapler and GM executive of the year is Farhan Zadi hands down!
Nobody else should even be in the conversation..
Criminy. Wood is all over the place.
Huh. Pillar wasn’t even running hard. Craw should have gotten the lead runner.
Well, pitcher up, take the out. Nevermind.
Darling, Hernandez and whoever the field guy is just did a nice commentary on how well-loved Wilmet still is in NY.
Man, the Mets are DP machines.
Wow…
RIght. Not the intent but he’s out.
I hate that call. It helped us, but stupid they call guys out who are clearly safe because sometimes it isn’t humant possible not to bounce off the base a little. Over slide? out! But In this case he should be safe
Yeah. They said when they started doing this that they wouldn’t overturn calls like this, but they do. All the time.
fuck
Looked foul to me
Maybe not.
Man, 5.1 innings.
That was not a meatball by Wood.
Down and in, Alonso went down and golfed it…
As KH just said why the fuck was Wilmer stationed in such an odd place?
Playing the bunt?
Makeup call on the play at 2nd.Alonso’s bomb was so damm close either way being judged by geometric phenomenal experience.
Brought back memories of Don Chandler’s infamous field goal.
To people over 90 anyway…
lol
Our neighbors (who took me to a few games at Kezar) regaled me with tales of Chandler’s 90 yard punt against the Niners.
I’m gonna guess he got a favorable bounce…
I have never seen a guy look less like a big league catcher than this Mazeika guy…
Reminds me of that field goal kicker for the Colts Rodrigo Blankenship with those honking black Clark Kent glasses 🤓.Oh shit I forgot the Giants have 2 in the dugout Kotter &Correia🤓
i fucking hate that guy. I want to punch him in the face every time I see him
In case you didn’t know, Giants have caught 3 straight 90 degree days here and now head to Hotlanta…
Will Kotter be right again?
Could’ve sent Estrada up to bunt here…
Pillar’s throw in another zipcode.
Got to get a run across in this situation. This is where we struggle
Wow. Tyro for Stella. Magic move?
Got fucked on ball four…
Nope.
I’ll I ever see is the Giants being the dominant team with their BP late in games while other teams BP implode.
A mark of a solid club that continually get the job done.Alonso HR was even a fluke,Wood made a real good pitch and he somehow golfed it out barely.Garcia comes in and shuts them down. Now we’re getting to their shitty BP to take the lead!!
The old rally killing bases loaded and no outs situation.
I hope the Giants get the strike calls Loup’s been getting.
Fuck fuck fuck.
Double fuck
HP umpire has major amblyopia…
When he loses the strike zone, he loses the strike zone. Fuck.
Spaghetti Leone just started throwing linguine up there..
Alvarez will get the job done!!
Just like that!!!!!
Whatever Alvarez is making it ain’t enough.
Anybody that had to have a nut removed like Alvarez is a true “GAMER” in my book!!
Need a run!!!! Got a few loose screws but no missing nuts.
hoooooooooooooo dogggg
These fricking games are killing me. Yaz’s swing there is what these guys need to do when they have the bases loaded and no outs. Just shoot the ball through a gap. Don;t try for the granny.
Like Ruf did on his game-winning hit.
Won’t you be my neighbor MrRodgers and close this game out?
Wow. a nice easy 9th!
How Sweep it Is! 🧹 🧹🧹
Those last couple of innings were tortuous. Damn. Solid win.
LA gonna win again. How many games do the Giants need to win this year to win the west? Fucking 105? More?
Yes sir Sweep 🧹🧹🧹
Takin care of Business everyday Takin care of business in every single way!!!
Meet the Mets
Beat the Mets
Step right up and sweep the Mets!
mm gotta think heads will roll.
Meanwhile A’s just hit back to back HRs to cut Yanks lead to 6-2 in 3rd inning.
love this one. I had an old thread from 2016 pop up and I scrolled thru it. Zum was doing the epic Clint gif then. When did he start doing that? Think about how many times he’s gone to the trouble to post that gif. Truly, well done
Through a little over 3/4 of the season, the 2021 bullpen is as good as any of the WS winners. So far, it’s actually better than 2012’s.

Interesting about Barrels now there saying he now has Covid ( instead of a phantom injury move) and would be out up to 10 days compared to just symptoms and be out less time. But it also means he’s unvaccinated WTF is wrong with these guys in sports?
And does he now stay isolated in a NY hotel? Fly him back to SF in a private jet? He’s definitely not going to Atlanta next..
Fucking Pads laying down like dogs. 4-0 top of the 8th.
These games are just golden. Good teams win the one run games.
It was a tortuous night in the neighborhood in that 9th inning. We need another laugher like Tuesday night to open the series against the braves. I hate playing Atlanta…hate their chop, etc. Go kick their asses Giants.
Giants playing in torturous NY heat and humidity since Tuesday, while the Braves relax in their air-conditioned mansions and swimming pools for the past 2 days. Plus we had to play a fuckin night game on getaway day.
Baseball is being run about as well as ________________(fill in the blank)
It was probably better playing at night, even for the getaway game.
Not a spectacular series, but getting the job done.
