A Loss
not much to say about that one. Win some, lose some. At least LA lost. Nobody hates Joc Pederson more than my main man in Reno, Pasalon. I’m sure last night’s catch at the wall had him doing the slowest of burns. Of course he went to Gunn High and probably hates all things that come out of Paly.
Forgot to give the Flap golfers a head’s up this 2nd round of the tour championship is being played outside of Baltimore at Caves Valley. Originally built by Baltimore Jewish businessmen because they would not be admitted to any of the WASP clubs.
I’ve played three times and frickin tough club. But we got to play three holes with Larry Mize at a fundraiser and I just wanted to match him on one bloody hole. First hole reasonable par 3 #15 he sticks it a foot away from the cup. I hit mine dead straight but short. I chip on and goes way past the flag. Off to next hole par 4 #16. I am on in two and he is just off in two. I line up my downhill putt and I roll it right past the flag and then rolls all the way off the god-damn green and he chips and putts it in for par.
So I got one shot at the par 4 #17. He is on the green in two in the uphill hole. I am short and chip up decently for a decent chance for a par putt. He lines up his birdie putt and misses!!! I have a shot and my putt is online and then moves left and I fail to match Larry Mize for one frickin hole.
Mazel Tough…
Well said. Place is awesome. I did one night in their cabins and we got Sunday night nfl poker and as much booze as you could consume and then golf the next day. Awesome! The next day we finished on #9 and stuck one a foot from the flag and sunk the birdie putt. For the tourney, I was getting two strokes on the hole so ended up scoring a one for a double eagle:)
We won the tourney…
Driving home in the early evening yesterday, the air was a smoky soup.
Here’s hoping all the fires are under control very soon.
It is going to be a while…Caldor fire (number one priority in the nation and approaching Tahoe) is only 19 percent contained.
Incredible round by Bryson yesterday, had two opportunities for a birdie at 17&18 missed them both the one on 18 was from 6ft yikes 😱 but still around of 60 to easily break the course record. Talking with super hot Amada B after the round I just missed read those 2 putts, but that’s golf ⛳️ I’m extremely happy with the round..
I am now watching round one and this is not the same holes I played. Completely different course layout. Rebuilt or just created a new course.
Looks like they just rearranged the holes. So what is #18 and #17 for this championship used to be #8 amd #9.
Apparently flipped the front to back so if you are keeping score at home I should have tied Mize on Hole #8…
I have no idea WTF you’re talking about…
I’ve watched probably 90% of Giants games this season, but I missed last night. Flavor is correct. I do not like Joc one fuck. It would have spoiled another wise fun evening to see an epic catch at the wall.
Vegas Vacation? I don’t remember that one at all. Sid Caesar? His last role?
I think I mentioned this at the end of the last thread. I am on-board with most of Kap’s decisions, but I would have kept Gausman in after 6 IP. He was fucking dealing, under 90 pitches, and the Giants had a two-run lead.
I get it that Watson is pretty reliable, but he sure as fuck has not been Mr. Automatic. And then Littell grooves a first-pitch fastball. WTF…
Oh well, wash that shit off and start a new streak today. Go Rox!
Chi ..I’m not that upset about not sticking with Gausman he finished the 6th with 88 pitches and Chop City is a freaking sauna house at 90 plus heat and humidity I think he was maxed out.I do think they should of went Garcia over Watson then to Rodgers/McGoo 8-9 if Garcia got the job done in the 7th..
Webb will silence those damm chop fan idiots and the freaking Braves today..
The 7th inning last night was kind of shocking mainly because the Giants gave up a 3-run bomb. I haven’t found any numbers to back this, but it sure seems like the Giants haven’t allowed too many of those game-changing home runs. Pillar was the last to do it a couple weeks ago, but that was against Chatwood. Before that, the last one was a grand slam by Altuve off Jackson on July 30. Also, this was the second straight bad outing by Watson, that’s a bit concerning.
8 one run games yesterday, SF just came out on short end, by few feet. Watson getting lit up not a good sign.
In catching news, Shea said Casali is OK and Posey obviously fine as well. So Tromp back to Sac, and Bart came off IL too. Couple more days and Giants can add 2 to roster, see what happens.
Gausman was ailing. Beat tweets said the botched play at 1B aggravated the hip injury he’s been dealing with for a while. He stayed in to try to spell the pen. Trade off, I guess.
will we see Joey B again this year?
Good question. Would allow Giants to rest Posey and Casali ahead of playoffs.
Still, depends on what you think you might gain. Saw MCC host Brady Klopfer raise arguments against—he was worse hitter 2020 than Casali is now and Casali pretty good defensively behind the plate. Also even at AAA, doesn’t BB much and Ks at 29%.
Bryson just went back to back eagles.
Zzzzzz
G–trying to match a former Master’s champ over 3 holes is a heckuva challenge. That all sounds super fun.
I’m playing Balboa today at 3:30 and hoping we can get all 18 in. 16 and 17 are 2 of the best holes on the course, so it sucks if you miss those 2.
Then playing with the principal at my high school tomorrow morning for the first time. Good dude, so it should be a good time. It’s 99 degrees at my house 40 miles east of San Dawg. Thankfully, it will be more like low 80’s in town.
Good to see Gaus throw a nice game.
Love it that there are golfers at the Flap. Shot 87 last week. 1st time breaking 90 in a long while. I usually string a bunch of bogies, with a sprinkling of pars with a few doubles or a triple mixed in for my 93-94:)
Good for you Mrsprtdude breaking 90 is always good!
Geez only a 30 on the front 9 for Bryson, he’s slacking had a 29 yesterday 🤣
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) RF
2. Tommy La Stella (L) 2B
3. Buster Posey (R) C
4. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
5. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
6. Alex Dickerson (L) LF
7. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
8. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
9. Logan Webb (R) P
No Bryant. That’s troubling….
Kerry Crowley’s tweets are counting down the time until Kapler gives his update on Bryant. (The guy’s trying hard to wedge himself in next to Baggarly et al.) Kap’s due to address the assembled about 2.30 pm, I guess.
The latest I have seen on Bryant…
https://www.fanduel.com/theduel/posts/giants-concerning-kris-bryant-injury-update-01fe6nsj9jke
Hopefully something more definitive later today.
well, apparently all Kap added just now is that Bryant’s MRI came back “clean.” And as others have noted, Vosler joined the team, to fill in as needed. Kerry Crowley banged out a full piece for the Merc on a Kap statement the other writers dispatched in brief tweets. lol.
Johnny Podres running in 3rd at Del Mar. Real life pitcher lasted long time for Dogs, from Brooklyn days when he was WS MVP in 1955 to winning 18 games for them in 1961, and winning a game in WS in 1963 when LA swept Yanks 4-0 behind Koufax.
won easily as 9-5 favorite $50K starter allowance race 5 furlongs on turf, ridden by Geovanni Franco for trainer Steve Miyadi
this is one of the craziest things I’ve seen in a race in a long time. Shades of Easy Goer/Sunday Silence but this was WAY more intense
Crazy right?
Took Ortiz forever to grab the reign…
Thank God his tongue was tied in the other direction…
Stellar!
Give me a Stella!!🍺
Nicely done. According to B/R when I looked the other day, Giants were dead last in NL for sac flies.
Mets are last, Giants 14th.
Braves have hit into fewest DPs.
I remember when Benji led the league in SFs. As cleanup hitter.
If Webb has a few more games like this he’ll be in the running for the Willie Mac Award.
Nice DP. Webb needs a quick inning.
A 3-pitch inning for Webb!
“Thank God his tongue was tied in the other direction…”
I don’t know what that means, and don’t want to know.
Can’t say I blame you, Zum…
A real tongue twister Zumie 😝
I prefer a titty twister.
Wilmet’s throwing really sucks a lot!
Fortunately IF picks him up and they get DP anyway.
Damned nice work by Webb to get outta that jam! More runs please…
Giants’ defense was shaky that inning, but Webb escapes!
Wilmer was shaky….
Well that made up for Wilmer ineptitude..
Webb starts his own DP to get out of that jam!!
Joc ain’t grabbing that one.
YazMataz bomb!
best record in mlb and we’re all like “phew! where would we be without Logan fucking Webb?”
Still in 1st until proven otherwise..
Nice play by Posey. Dude is fucking rock solid! Still…
Fuck yeah! Great to see Webb finish 7 strong.
Webb should pitch the 8th, especially after what happened last night.
No luck of the O’Riley on that play!
At 98 pitches I doubt we see Webb. Kid did his job. Outside of last night, the bullpen has been solid.
Another run would be nice here….
Now you can use the bullpen for the 8th!
5- zip!!
108 MPH liner to Wilmet…
good thing he didn’t need to make a throw
Nice play by LaStella to end the inning….
Hitter with best slugging pct .545 and highest OPS .939 on either team playing tonight—Darren Ruf.
If that at em ball hit to Wilmet had been on a hop he could have turned DP easily. Glove is solid, arm sometimes inaccurate.
Close this bitch out.
Rox threatening in the 3rd…
Ballgame! Joc-O….from hero to goat. 😂
The “signature Jay smile” says Flemm, and he’s right. What joy. You gotta like Jackson.
Lets take this bitch tomorrow, win the series and head home 40 fucking games over .500!!!
In his last 13 starts, Webb is 7-0, with a 1.48 ERA.
He’s scheduled to pitch Thursday against the Brewers, I would make that an opener game, and definitely have in pitch against the Bums on Friday on 5 days rest..
Disagree on that, Kat…
Padres game is on the FS1 Network.
Angels lead 4-2. The Padres look so defeated these days. That team had a swagger earlier in the season. All of that is gone.
This is pretty funny. Manny doing the wave while Votto steals 3rd.
Ooops
my son did that twice in one inning in LL and the opposing manager screamed, among other things, His father’s a lawyer!. The umps told him to calm down and glared at me. I was coaching third, so I was able to tell the boy to cut it out.
And that’s why they bury lawyers 12 ft down instead of 6ft.
Because deeper down there better people.
when I worked as a brakeman, I heard a million lawyer jokes. All the old timers told them all the time. They had all been through nasty divorces.
Unbelievable. Can’t even call that *defensive indifference*. More like extremely offensive indifference. Pads are done and done-r.
Rox and bums, 2-2 in the 7th. Come on Rox!
It wouldn’t be a big surprise if Bochy is managing the Padres next season.
This is happening a lot:
“Marc Bernier is Fourth Anti-vaccine Radio Host to Die of Covid this Month”
Oh, but the government is responsible for their deaths.
