A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Still In….FIRST PLACE!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 6, 2021

Sorry for the late thread Flap Nation, those tennis balls weren’t gonna hit themselves…

Not much to say except woo hoo! I don’t know how we did it but we took the series using 2 goddamn openers and like 40 pitchers. It felt like thaty many anyway.

Now we only have to go to Colorado with literally no pitchers available. LOL. I’m sure that won’t be a problem.

Nice tennis match today Flavor. Keep working at it and one day you will get a point off of me. Those “Love” 40 games were tough on you but you have potential. Incredible series against the Art Dealers 2 out of 3 is nice but this race is going down to the last day of the season. We need to pile up some wins vs Sherpas, D-Backs and Cubs to stay in this thing. Let’s hope Gausman burns a lot innings today.

start scoring our games correctly, 2-1, 3-0 not this hoity toity 30-15, 40-love nonsense and I might play you again.

Birdog /Flavor Só what’s the definition of endless love?

“Now we only have to go to Colorado with literally no pitchers available.” Actually we have Gausman, LoDog, and Disco lined-up for Colorado. Then a couple of bullpen games to start the series against the cubbies.

Kap has said they are prepared to carry on with a couple of bullpen games for as long as they need to do it. Gonna be interesting.

25 game sprint. Schedule favors Giants, but ya still have to play ’em and win ’em.

Need our starters to go deep in these games so that we have a rested bullpen for those bullpen games in Chicago.

    Shock the World!

I am concerned about Bryant. He looks off at the plate and he’s sometimes throwing sidearm frisbees to firstbase. It makes me think he’s playing in some pain in his side still. But maybe I’m wrong. Hopefully.

    • chipower9 said, on September 6, 2021 at 11:21 am

Yesterday’s error from 3rd base was only his third from that position. And he made some killer plays, too.

I am not sweating it…they all go through their little funks. Hell, look at Posey over the past month or so. It happens.

    1. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
    2. Kris Bryant (R) LF
    3. Buster Posey (R) C
    4. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
    5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
    6. Thairo Estrada (R) 2B
    7. Mauricio Dubon (R) CF
    8. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
    9. Kevin Gausman (L) P

I would prefer Grave Duggar in CF…

    • zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 11:40 am

Yeah, I’m kinda done with Barney Fife, frankly. I thought he had good potential, but now I’m not thinking that anymore.

      • zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 11:42 am

You’d think maybe he would see how Posey hits to all fields, and learn something; but nah.

      • willedav said, on September 6, 2021 at 12:04 pm

L/R match up. Freeland beat Giants last month in SF. Only gave up 1 run in 5 IP. Once he’s out of there Kap can use LHs off bench.

  5. Flavor said, on September 6, 2021 at 11:50 am

it’s not to have some starters, for once, start a game. But this is COlorado. Once they’re done in maybe the 4-5th inning who we got to come in?

  6. snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 12:25 pm

These games at Coors are almost always a joke, often on the Giants.
By all rights, the Giants coming off an emotional series, their Pen used a ton, and a ridiculously quick turnaround from a night game including a flight, should have nearly no chance, especially at altitude. But, they have to play the game, so let’s see, maybe they got a boost to the offense by yesterday’s game…

  7. chipower9 said, on September 6, 2021 at 12:40 pm

Yes, all indications are the Giants should get their asses handed to them. So, this is prime time for Giants to hand all the naysayers their asses and kick some Rox ass today.

    Fuck that shit…Box the Rox!

    • Winder said, on September 6, 2021 at 12:46 pm

At least the Dodgers are in the same boat they had to go to STL and have a 5 min. later start. We are probably gonna have to dig deep for just about every game the rest of the season.

Nice hit, Dubie, but should have gone to third on the fly ball, not that it ultimately mattered.

  20. alleykat69 said, on September 6, 2021 at 2:24 pm

    Estrada Bombs away!
Estrada is going to be a key component on the infield next year.Like him as Crawford’s backup especially but at 2nd and 3rd when needed..

Great butcher boy base hit and a run that Gausman provided there..

    • chipower9 said, on September 6, 2021 at 2:28 pm

Agree Kat. Kid is definitely making a play for more playing time. I dig this kid.

  21. chipower9 said, on September 6, 2021 at 2:27 pm

Bryant needs to get the bat off his damned shoulder. Twice he has looked at strike three…

Another very overused phrase.. After a batter hits one straight back to the screen.
And the announcer says “Boy I bet he wished he had that pitch”
Why? He should of crushed the first one!

As they blow it open so far( it’s still Coors)
Hope that inning doing take to much out of Gausman, he did a lot of running that inning in that heat..

  37. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:12 pm

Ruf has some bull-in-the-china-shop in him.

  38. alleykat69 said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:17 pm

Ruf could of taken out both Crawford and Longoria fot the rest of the season with a collision there..

    • Macdog said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:20 pm

Yeah, maybe Longo should wear a red jersey in the field.

  39. Macdog said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:19 pm

I forgot Freeland was the pitcher who beat the Giants at the mini Flapalooza last month. Giants no XBHs that game, not quite the case today.

  40. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:24 pm

Dubie goes opposite field with a nice job of hitting. Tip of the cap to him. Proved me wrong.

  43. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:40 pm

    Another sack for Ruf…

  45. Macdog said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:51 pm

Holy crap, Ruf really is dangerous out there!

  46. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:53 pm

    Ruf’s kind of an idiot.

  47. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 3:55 pm

Ruf reminds me of guys who play pick-up basketball games and have no clue about the flow and rhythm of the sport. I quit playing pick-up games because of guys like that. I kept getting hammered and injured by those kinds of guys.

  48. alleykat69 said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:02 pm

Let’s get the new kid from the Castro in there.

  49. snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:05 pm

Kap needs to be smart here.
It doesn’t take long in this park to go from 7 runs up to 2-3 runs up, especially if you’re just throwing some dude like Beregar (SP?) out there who all of sudden might give up a 3 run dinger…

    • snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:08 pm

      Sorry, I guess I meant just a 2-run dinger, like that one…

    • Macdog said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:08 pm

Yep. This is no place for mop-up stiffs.

    • snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:11 pm

Baragar must hate Denver, he’s looking to go back to Sac, stat…

  53. zumiee said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:13 pm

Too bad the ZZ Top duo fizzled out. That was a nice stretch when they were pitching well.

  54. snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:17 pm

  57. snarkk said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:21 pm

Another 2 runs would be nice.
The rear end of the Giants Pen looks pretty wobbly.
Maybe Kap can put a uni on one of the clubbies and he can pitch the bottom of the 9th…

  58. alleykat69 said, on September 6, 2021 at 4:22 pm

Jábba the Brebbia continues to be a pitcher I don’t want to see ,shit 15 pitches to get 1 out?

A little dicey there in the 8th. Up 5 but Rox had two on. Bomb would have closed it to 2.

Unca and I were at a game there a few years back (different itineraries). Giants had a huge lead late and lost it on a walkoff in the 9th. Place is a fucking house of horrors (or can be).

  69. unca_chuck said, on September 7, 2021 at 8:51 am

Yep. Giants had a 6-2 lead going into the 7th and Boch went through like 8 pitchers in the 7-8-9, and we lost 7-6.

    Belt and Gorkys homered iirc.
