A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

LA Banished To An Icy Winter Slumber

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 24, 2021

The Giants rally cry this year became “Resilient SF” and that was accurate, our team never gave up and had some amazing comebacks throughout the year. But what the Braves have done this year really is the definition of resiliency when you consider the stars they lost AND how hard they brought it to LA when the money was on the line.

They are an easy team to root for in the World Series. Look, I like Dusty and all but there’s no way I will EVER root for the Cheatin’ Astros. Plus the Braves did what we couldn’t. And LA getting bounced out of the post season is nearly as good as winning the whole thing. Relax, I said “nearly”.

Chop it up! Let’s go!

    Great post, BF.
    Said it well.
Atlanta’s lefty relievers came up huge.

    • zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 6:00 am

And I didn’t see much of the “chop” from the Atlanta fans last night. I appreciated that.

Warriors/Kings match-up today could be interesting. The Kings’ rookie Mitchell looks like a legit NBA player, and combined with Halliburton, gives the Kings two solid first round picks in a row. The Kings are improved, even with Bagley not living up to his college hype.

    • zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 6:23 am

The Warriors have looked championship-contender level so far this season.

This will be a great career and much awaited achievement for Dusty. Still my second fav Giants manager behind Roget Craig. Dusty has had so many opportunities and blown them all. But think he as a man is very good person and I am rooting for him. Astros have something to prove and playing for Dusty and what they can do to make Dusty a winner is a powerful motivator. Stros in 6.

    • unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:32 am

Boch doesn’t rank in your top Giants managers?

Really happy the effing Dodgers lost, but it’s Astros all the way for me. They’ve paid the price for their indiscretions and I want Dusty to get his first ring. He really deserves it. That ’93 season was a magical surprise and the last season I saw any Giants’ games at the Stick. Even though the season didn’t end well, it was a helluva ride and Dusty was an excellent manager overall for the G-Men.

    Anyway, that’s where I stand.

  5. Bozo said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:20 am

Don Pardo, what will the Dodgers parting gifts be?

Well Vin, LA will be receiving a reflective 4-5 hour flight from Atlanta to LA . No, they won’t be going to Disneyland, but they will get the excitement of cleaning out their lockers.

I wonder how hard the Dogs push to keep Scherzer.

  7. unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:39 am

Funny it wasn’t too long ago the Braves and Astros were in the NL West.

  8. Pasalon said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:52 am

Watching the Braves, a team I didn’t know much about previous to the postseason, one couldn’t help but notice that the buffoonery that Joc brings to that team is like a silly pearl-laden sideshow to the actual quality players they’ve got like Rosario and Freeman. Yeah, Joc blasted an HR or two out and contributed, but to many in the Bay Area he’s not considered much more than a common motley’s jester.

I was rooting for Joc to beat his old team, and he must be having a chuckle that he’s the only ‘Dodger’ to go to the series in 2021. Now I can find a new abject indifference to that tinted mohawk sportin fool. Go Braves!

i tried to make this POTD and the entire right side of the blog got fucked up. Fuck wordpress they are constantly changing the back end of this site and now I don’t know what the fuck is going on

  9. Winder said, on October 24, 2021 at 9:19 am

I am for the Braves also. I like Dusty a lot but I don’t like the Astro’s at all. I don’t like Atlanta either but to me they are the lesser of two evils. They both play in bandbox stadiums so it’s kind of hard to tell what they would do playing in a pitchers park like ours. How about them Dodgers!!!

  10. unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 9:37 am

Don’t really give a rat’s ass either way and I won’t watch much, but it would be cool for Dusty to get a ring. Like the Giants after Bonds, he had nothing to do with the previous shit show.

An unexpected prime-time slot for the Niners tonight.

There be lucky to keep the tv camera’s working properly in “The Mud Bowl Game”
This storm is barely clearing its throat 100 pct rain and wind all day all night .This is when the diehard fans( trying to get their tailgate shit together,bbq/drinks/ condiments all blowing away) and players earn their paychecks! Just hoping 49ersRB Mitchell is a mudder Fantasy Football start, like some of the mudders I use to pick on a sloppy track at Bay Meadows &Golden Gate Fields..

  13. snarkk said, on October 24, 2021 at 11:32 am

I’m rootin’ for Dusty, this would be a crowning achievement for a long and successful career. Most players speak reverently about him, that’s good enough for me. He had nothing to do with the cheatin’ Stros, so I have no problem with him winning with this edition, assuming it’s not cheating. As far as the Braves go, thanks for giving the Doghairs a beat down. Goes to show and confirm their last year’s Covid championship has a massive asterisk that renders it nearly if not totally meaningless…

  14. alleykat69 said, on October 24, 2021 at 11:36 am

Yeah the Braves fan are really pathetic when they have to bring out fake pearls like Pasalon mentioned.Joc looks for any attention that would still make him revel-ant, his act is getting old.The real stars of that team are Rosario,Freeman,Riley,Swanson TV dinner, and some shutdown BP led by that dude Mazek? Comes in 2nd and 3rd no outs up 4-2 but this was the Bums biggest chance and he Strikes out the side👏

Loo…RIP The Kansas City Chiefs who have fallen so hard..24-0 Tennessee at halftime as they’re rolling all over Chiefs who have 67 total yards and another turnover my Mahomes..

    • unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 3:09 pm

KC has absolutely no defense. And their O line is hurt again.

  15. Flavor said, on October 24, 2021 at 12:32 pm

Root for the cheaters? I’m, no. Who cares if it happened when dusty wasn’t there it’s still all the same group of cheaters

  16. mrsprtdude said, on October 24, 2021 at 1:12 pm

Me too. I always look at it this way. What if we found out Texas cheated and stole the WS in 2010? I don’t care if it was vs the Dodgers. It was fucked up. I used to root for Altuve. Never again. Dusty might have a ring already if he made better game decisions. Go Braves!!!

  17. djloo27 said, on October 24, 2021 at 2:15 pm

Dusty deserves his moment in the sun.
    I hope he gets it.
    Cheating is everywhere.
    Giants have done their share…

  18. Winder said, on October 24, 2021 at 2:25 pm

Dusty won a ring in 81 I believe.

  19. zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 4:00 pm

The Astros’ cheating was way beyond any kind of “normal” cheating. Their use of electronic cheating would be the equivalent of an NFL team hearing inside the headsets of the other team, or an NBA team planting a mic on the opposing head coach’s collar. It’s a level of fraud that is criminal really. It’s defrauding the consumers (fans) of the sport.
Smolz said something like “The Astros getting to the World Series is a great accomplishment after all they’ve been through.”
After all they’ve been through? Wow. The Astros have triumphed over adversity? Just wow.

  20. zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 4:02 pm

The Astros did at least, ironically, knock Master Cheater Cora out of the playoffs.

  21. Irish Kevin said, on October 24, 2021 at 4:28 pm

Cheating? Fuck let’s look at the umpires behind the plate every game. Damn, coach hands the ump $100 bill behind the lineup card and walla.

    • Flavor said, on October 24, 2021 at 4:45 pm

there’s no evidence at all that they’re taking bribe money.

  22. zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 4:57 pm

The umps stink at umping, but I don’t think they’re trying to throw games. They’re just really lousy at their jobs. Which is a big issue, too.

  23. zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 5:00 pm

I agree that the only positive thing about the Astros winning the championship this year would be Dusty getting a ring as a manager for the first time.
    But that’s about it.

  24. unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 5:08 pm

It is pretty fucking baffling that the Giants get Eddings AND Angel in their playoff series. They are the worst at balls and strikes in the league. Teams that try to go deep in counts are ones that would be hurt by inconsistent HP umps. Not blatant cheating, but something that could tilt the playing field a bit to the league’s liking.

  25. alleykat69 said, on October 24, 2021 at 6:18 pm

You know I agree with Kevin, Dusty has a freaking W/S ring with the bums on the famous crippled Gibson HR off Eckersely. So that’s good enough for me.Go Braves and screw the cheaters they don’t get a pass until all those scumbags ,Bergman, Altuve,Correa etc are off that team..

    • djloo27 said, on October 24, 2021 at 7:33 pm

      Not that one Kat.
He was on the ’81 WS team…

      • alleykat69 said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:23 pm

Oh yeah my bad, but he still has a ring so nobody should whine for him not getting one as a manager yet..

  26. Macdog said, on October 24, 2021 at 6:26 pm

Two lulz moments from the Colts: that truly awful pass by Wentz, and the dropped pass by wide-open Hinds.

  27. alleykat69 said, on October 24, 2021 at 6:51 pm

And yet they take the lead into the locker room anyway as the 49ers secondary sucks and the offense went comatose..

  28. zumiee said, on October 24, 2021 at 7:13 pm

    Oh yay.
“HOUSTON – Baseball’s ninth work stoppage and first in 26 years appears almost certain to start Dec. 2, freezing the free-agent market and threatening the start of spring training in February.
Negotiations have been taking place since last spring, and each side thinks the other has not made proposals that will lead toward an agreement replacing the five-year contract that expires at 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 1.”

  29. djloo27 said, on October 24, 2021 at 7:31 pm

For the kiddies here, the Baltimore Colts and your 49ers were once rivals in the NFL Coastal Division…

    • Macdog said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:12 pm

This isn’t exactly Unitas vs. Brodie.

  30. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:19 pm

Apropos of nothing, but there is one penalty that has always bothered me: the ubiquitous pass interference call that spots the ball at the point of the foul. Desperate teams having problems moving the ball can just heave it down near the goal line and hope for an interference that’ll put the ball on the 2 yard line. Defensive holding is sometimes called instead of interference, even though it’s a fine line, and that’s only a 5 yard penalty (plus 1st down). Is there any other penalty that spots the ball at the point of the foul? Why that one, which has such huge potential to change the game. Why not a 15-yard penalty instead? Asking for a friend.

  31. unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:33 pm

Wow..The 49ers are seriously the worst coached team in the league. Our DB coach must be on glue. None of our DBs EVER looks for the ball. We give up 120 yards on PI penalties alone. Every game. 7 penalties – 122 yards.

Shanahan stresses ball security. How’s that working out, Kyle? Jimmy G with 3 of the 4 turnovers.

The Sudfeld era is about to begin.

  32. djloo27 said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:49 pm

    My team…

    32nd in turnovers
    32nd in points allowed
    32nd in yards allowed
32nd in yards per play allowed
    31st in pass yards allowed
    31st in receiving yards allowed
    31st in rush yards allowed
    32nd in 1st downs allowed

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 24, 2021 at 8:53 pm

There’s something to be said for consistency….

    • Macdog said, on October 24, 2021 at 9:31 pm

So there’s hope for my team next week?

      • djloo27 said, on October 24, 2021 at 9:50 pm

        Big time, Mac!
Reid hasn’t been the same since his idiot drunk son’s crash. Time to go and take Spaghetti with him.
Mahomes is too busy making commercials and running for his life looking for Kelce and Hill.
He’s probably miserable with his loudmouth wife and crying infant, too.
The defense is even worse than their stats.
        Dynasty my ass.
        THEY SUCK!!!!

    • alleykat69 said, on October 24, 2021 at 11:55 pm

Can’t they work harder on the pass yards allowed ?
      The receiving yards allowed?
      And the rush yards allowed?
If its worth doing it’s worth doing right!
      Let’s get those 3 categories to 32!!!👍

  33. unca_chuck said, on October 24, 2021 at 10:45 pm

Shit. At least your guys won the super bowl. The 49ers lead the league in stupid penalties and dumb turnovers. We are back to the the dregs of the NFL with this current coaching staff. Way too much talent to be this shitty.

Shams hams has to go. This fucking week. Lame
duck this season and let Jimmy take his lumps.

Fuck, I don’t know. There’s really no reason to play Jimmy anymore. He is awful. The schemes are awful. Except for when they moved G around. So naturally they stopped that after the first drive. Early in the 4th they did it again and it worked. So they went away from it.

Shanny is very adept at outsmarting himself. And G still doesn’t feel the pass rush. And he throws dumb picks.

The only reason I don’t want Shanny coaching Lance is he’s already tried to kill him.
