A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Shaky Pitching

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 28, 2021

Braves are now really in some hot water. Their pitching staff was a little suspect before Morton went down. Now they turn their weary eyes to…..Ian Anderson? Yikes. He’s not even as good as Fried who got hammered yesterday. At least they get to go home but if they’re going to pull this off they’re going to need all the bat firing on all cylinders. The good news is that Houston’s pitching is far from imposing.

Two teams that got here by blasting the ball all over the yard. Whoever blasts the loudest longest wins I guess….

Yeah, how a day changes the make-up. It looked like Atlanta was going to have their way of things after game 1, now all the momentum is with Houston, even though the next three are in Hotlanta. And the loss of Morton is huge for Atlanta.

Surprised we have not had a WilcoJoe sighting with the Astros being in the dance.

Crazy to see how young Bummie was in 2010.

Nice to remember how good he was…

Arnold Hano dead at age 99. Wrote a lot of feature articles in “Sport” Magazine I enjoyed as kid in 60s and who was in bleachers at Polo Grounds when Mays made The Catch, and wrote about it.
Pitching, once again as always most imp factor in WS. Even Grant Brisbee can figure out it’s SF main issue looking forward to 2022.

Siri’s speed can’t be overlooked. It started the rally.

    • Macdog said, on October 28, 2021 at 9:21 am

I didn’t know Siri had been in the Giants organization until Buck mentioned it last night.

Sporting News announced the following this morning:

NL Comeback Player of the Year – Buster Posey

NL Manager of the Year – Gabe Kapler

NL Executive of the Year – Farhan Zaidi.

And ONLY 117 days until pitchers and catchers report (CBA shenanigans can certainly derail this)….

      62 days till the lockout.

Very nice and all 3 Awards very well deserved in such an amazing season!
U could make a case for Brandon Crawford as well!!
Maybe both could win a Silver Slugger award ,Posey’s competition not as strong as Brandon’s but who knows?
GG they should be right there as well, it doesn’t get much better with those 2 manning C&SS!!

That expression of Romo after he punched out Caberá will always be etch in Stone!
Along with Timmy’s finger wave to the sky with a very enthusiastic “Fuck Yeah” against the Rangers!

Crawfish really is the MVP if you consider his contribution to the greater good of the team, and what his absence would have meant to the Giants.

The award isn’t really defined very well, and guys on last-place teams (hello Hawk) have won it, so there’s no real accounting as to who the “valuable” applies to. I mean, the Cubbies are a last place team with or without him, so what’s his value for them? They’d just be a worse last place team. Is it his value to the league? Sure. Whatevs.

But that’s how I’d look at it. One would at least need to be on a good enough team to be close to the playoffs to be considered for the award. But again, whatevs.

Craw and Yaz are Gold Glove finalists, but not Buster.

Melvin jumps from A’s to manage the Pads — 3 year deal…

    • sfsarge said, on October 28, 2021 at 5:33 pm

That’s a hell of a get for the Padres. Great move on their part.

i never thought Bochy was going to take that job. He’s good man, he’s retired and loving life. What’s he need that grind for again?

    • djloo27 said, on October 28, 2021 at 6:07 pm

Could be a case of the Padres not wanting Bochy, rather than the other way around. Bochy never closed the door on a comeback and if he was gonna make one, this
was the place I’m sure he wanted to be.
The dinosaur’s days are coming to an end…

      • djloo27 said, on October 28, 2021 at 6:12 pm

Yet, geezer Dusty may win it all…

    • alleykat69 said, on October 28, 2021 at 6:24 pm

He doesn’t, Bochy can still do some taco 🌮 commercials with Posey.Smart move by the Padres and especially Melvin, he’s a good manager stuck in a organization that doesn’t appreciate him are the players, time to move on!

Side note…Joe Buck has such a punchable face!

      • Flavor said, on October 28, 2021 at 6:38 pm

Aikman pretty punchable too. You know why Buck refers to him as “Hall of Famer Troy Aikman” to start each game? It’s written into his contract that he has to call him that

  12. alleykat69 said, on October 28, 2021 at 7:17 pm

No shit? I had no idea.Just another reason I can’t stand him and Aikman, You have that written in your contact? You are a yes man for life with no cojones! I can just see Buck as a kid getting a wedgie after school and thrown in a dumpster…

    • djloo27 said, on October 28, 2021 at 7:54 pm

Buck’s been a good luck charm for me.
      Called 3 WS & SB…

  13. alleykat69 said, on October 28, 2021 at 8:45 pm

AJ Green had a Joe Biden moment in the end zone, dazed and confused, never even looking at the ball as it gets picked off to end the game instead of atleast a chip shot FG to send it in OT..

  14. PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on October 28, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Buck does something that aggravates me to no end, and funnily enough, his Dad did it too. Actually, a lot of broadcasters do it. Kuip has been more prone to this too in his later years. They say something about what they think is going to happen, even though they’re supposed to be doing play by play as it actually happens. And they’re often wrong. “And that’s going to be a fly ball out to CF.” No, it’s not necessarily going to be, for krissakes, it is a fly ball to CF and now the CF caught it, so now it’s a fly ball out to CF. I remember one horrific call made by Jack Buck before he retired, important post-season game, single to the OF with a runner on 2nd, and he said something like “and that’s going to score a run to tie the game!”, except that the throw from the OF nailed the runner easily at the plate, which Buck then had to cover, “No!, he’s out!” It would have been tolerable to say “And there’s going to be a play at the plate”, ok. But really, shut the fuck up until it actually happens.
