Guy made platooney ball (not something I was big fan of going in) work to tune of 107 Ws. Often said managing pitching staff to get through 162 was all he was trying to do and he managed that as well. Members of coaching staff already hired away from him so obviously other ML orgs don’t think what coaches did was a fluke.
Even Crawford said he’s changed from when he first got job in 2020 and is more flexible and open to suggestion now. Sounds he’s learning as he goes to be less rigid, and maybe not just blindly follow what iPad tells him to do. Managing is so different now given all the input from outside, but Kap seemed to be able to navigate the uncharted waters that last season was just fine.
No question he was deserving. Let’s see if he can repeat the effort because I don’t see big free agent acquisitions this year. But I could see them landing this Japanese layer Suzuki. Has there been Flap chatter about him. May be a similar cheaper option to Kris Bryant…I would be shocked if they look at Marte and/or Semien…
wow props to Jersey and Seton Hall, just watched highlights of them knocking off Michigan on the road. Can’t stand Juwan Howard, though Big Ten is full of good teams this year. Funny, Hall gets Ohio St. next too.
Have seen USC and UCLA, both loaded though SC guards not as strong as bigs.
watched Stanford women lose Sunday to Texas at home, and last night they struggled again vs. full court zone trap…from Portland Pilots. Guarantee they will face better athletes in Pac 12. TVD got some problems to solve.
How the hell Gabe didn’t get a unanimous selection for MOY is a crime, that’s why his arms are stretched out suggesting WTF? Should be use to it by now, with all the shaking my head going on with the HOF on who gets it unjustified and who are deserving but will never get in..
What was the deal with Farhan? Did he get all the votes for GM Executive of the year? Heard he won just wondering if it was a slam dunk?
How good did the Dubs look last night??? Who agrees that once Klay and even Wiseman comes back this is going to be the best defensive team the Dubs have had in this era???
The emerging parallels between the 2021 Warriors and Giants make a nice story. Old stars and a bunch of solid players up and down the roster being used in the right way.
Well deserved, IMO. While I was down on a lot of what Kap did in the shortened 2020 season, he really seemed to improve this year. One of the things I read about often was that the vets really appreciated that Kap had a willingness to listen to their feedback, and in many cases, acted accordingly.
Only 92 days until pitchers and catchers report. Meanwhile, back to the window…
“People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.”
First time the last day and today I’ve actually seen a pic of Kap where I can see his face and head with no glasses and cap. Looks like he should go out and play, he’s in better shape than most of the team…
Meanwhile, the Dubs kicked ass on the Nets last night.
Curry is ridiculous. He looks like he could make 30 footers blindfolded.
Dubs are, so far, at or near tops in offense and defense in the NBA. Nets are not a stiff team, and they were throttled by Dubs defense. KD was muzzled, went 0-8 in 3rd quarter on FG attempts. Kyrie is off researching vaxx and probably reviewing more evidence of a flat earth.
Maybe Klay won’t be needed much?…
I would have been surprised with any other outcome. I think he wants the one year deal to prove he can stay healthy, and see where things go with the universal DH (ugh), and then test the FA waters next year. Will be good to have him back for next year, IMO.
They have a RH power bat ( well technically) that plays both outfield and infield in Kris Bryant .After Posey’s retirement they don’t need to lose anymore production. A guy like Taylor though a decent player is not better then Bryant and Bryant’s 3 years younger! What a concept maybe trying to stay younger for a change. And how much longer do they have to wait on Ramos? That’s 2 outfield RH power bats with Yaz,and Wade from the left side..
It really is kind of nutty that the Earth is round.
Until there were pictures, I don’t think I would have believed it.
I don’t think Columbus knew it, did he?
Everyone on those ships must’ve been looking straight ahead the whole time…
They knew. Magellan had already circumnavigated the orb.

Back in college, I was an English Lit major and a Biology and Evolution minor. For some reason, I was fascinated with what the *rock* of planet earth would look like if you could hold it in your hand (without the oceans, etc.). I thought it wouldn’t look round at all, just an odd-shaped rock. Figured all those high mountains and deep sea valleys would lend it the odd shape. Turned out, not really, the earth is too big to lose its roundness from high spikes of mountains to low valleys in the sea. It still kind of intrigues me…
Columbus, and many other explorers and scholars of his era, knew the world was round.
Columbus’ whole idea of sailing west from Europe to get to Asia was done with confidence that the Earth was round.
But….Columbus and others of his era made one big miscalculation. They thought the Earth was much smaller. They thought it was about 20,000 miles around instead of about 30,000 miles. To his dying day Columbus wouldn’t admit that he hadn’t gotten to Asia.

Regarding Loo’s earlier post wondering if Kotter physically intimidated some players, I think I’ve mentioned the time back in the late ‘80s in Boston when manager “Tollway Joe” Morgan chose to pinch-hit little Spike Owen for Jim Rice late in a close game… dude often managed on hunches and thought Owen had a better chance of getting a key hit (which he delivered, sending the game into extras where Sox won on a Todd Benzinger HR). Rice obviously didn’t take too kindly to that and grabbed Morgan by the shirt collar and dragged him into the tunnel to the clubhouse. Jim was pretty strong, and Morgan was pretty old. Kind of doubt he would have done that if Kotter was the manager. I know I wouldn’t…
“According to an exchange on Instagram, Kelly Stafford, the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, threw a pretzel at a 49ers fan and had to be escorted to another area of Levi’s Stadium during Monday’s game, as first reported by TMZ.
“I’m an idiot,” Kelly wrote in response to the comment. “He was saying a bunch of things that were aggressive towards our crew but zero excuse.
“I tried to apologize, but in the end knew I was wrong. Will always stand up for my guy and everyone I love, but obviously needed to do it completely different. I’m embarrassed too! Sorry you had to witness me in my weak moment.””

Stafford is good and having a great year, but I thought he looked a little twitchy at times in that game. One play in the red zone, the play and the pocket broke down and he started running toward the goal line where there was a pretty clear lane for him, but he pulled up short and actually ran a bit backwards then trying to get around a defender on the end. Looked like he didn’t want any part of getting hit if he ran. I don’t know… it’s the little things.

So what’s up with Belt? Looks like deadline to accept QO is 2 PM left coast time. Anything from beat writers on twitter–Baggs Shea Slush et al?
I have seen nothing…
I was speaking to a Flodger fan friend of mine (three times fast) and he described Chris Taylor as incredibly streaking with a lot of Ks. Fuck that…
Sounds like all the 2021 Giants OFers, only he seems better than all of them and more versatile…

I wonder if Kotter physically intimidates any of his players and staff…

Rogers Hornsby

He sucked when he was young.
But, he must have looked good doing it?…
Wow, Kai Correa sure beefed up this Fall.
Hah!!

Report:
Belt will accept the QO from the Giants…

Now let’s get that rotation dialed-in…
That is good news.
It’s now confirmed on Giants website…
Ah cool. So Wade can stay in OF and fill in when/if Belt is hurt.
Still need 1 more OF bat preferably RH with power.
And pitching!

He threw an illegal pass. He was across the line of scrimmage. Which led to the botched fake field goal.
Was the pretzel intercepted?
Bravo to Kelly Stafford. Owned it and now’s done. If only everyone could do that!
Humongous foul ground along the lines.
Pitcher friendly…
Why the fuck did they make the foul ground so huge? I’ve never understood that.
The flat earthers aren’t *entirely* wrong: https://earthhow.com/shape-of-the-earth/
If you call 0.3% off of a circle flat.
I guess the paper needs to change their name to the Boston Oblate Spheroid.
