Three Suckers

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 13, 2021

I don’t even want to know what Jimmy, Kyle and Robbie make this year. I’m guessing all 3 are the highest paid at their position. If you get paid the most you’re getting paid to deal with the pressures of higher expectations. And all 3 of those guys have not met those expectations in 2021.

I still can’t get over Kyle thinking a 47 yarder was going to just be a chip shot for the bedraggled Gould. Has he watched him at all this year? I know we were out of time outs but there was at least 30 seconds left on the clock, plenty of time for 2 quick short outs to try to make the FG 40 yards or closer. But no. He has Jimmy go out there and chuck two balls deep into the black night sky.

We won in spite of those 3 yesterday. We won because of Bosa and the miraculous catches of Kittle and the airborne dive of Aiuyk. Don’t kid yourself, if Aiyuk had stepped out on the 2 one of those 3 idiots would have figured out a way to fuck it all to hell….

I know he didn’t go nearly as high, but when Kittle did this his finger tip catch reminded me of this one…..

Well, if they had thrown a pass and completed in in those last 30 seconds, there is no guarantee that they get out of bounds. Jimmy was 27/41 with two TDs and no picks (most important thing there is no picks). It wasn’t pretty but it is a team game and the right team won.

    Get healthy and move on.

Distinct lack of consistently competent QBs in NFL week to week. He won the game. G haters need to get over it… scoreboard.

        Aiyuk won the game.

      • chipower9 said, on December 13, 2021 at 11:07 am

Not without JG throwing him the pass, and the team blocking, etc.

The better team won the game.

    “Black night sky”
    Great descriptive writing!

I figured we’d get called for holding on those last 2 chuck-and-ducks. Like Shanny fucked up the Atl Super Bowl. The plays weren’t there. Frankly I liked the deep ball just to try and force a PI. Shanny played that fine given the no timeouts.

Gould has to make that kick.. It’s his fucking job.

Cincy HC Zac Taylor should get a game ball for running on 1st and 2nd down in OT. Burrow was shredding us.

  4. willedav said, on December 13, 2021 at 8:56 am

twin used to use expression, “warts and all” and that definitely applies to Niners. They have obvious shortcomings behind front 7 on D, spec teams have been hit and miss, running backs are hurt again and G has his limits. Still, he led 2 game winning drives yesterday when needed and didn’t turn ball over; could be 9 or 10 win team depending on who shows up and when. After losing streak at 2-4, better than I would have thought possible.
Funny, Unc mentioned Taylor and play calling–he’s also McVay disciple and Shans is 2-0 against him. Ownage!

    • Flavor said, on December 13, 2021 at 9:10 am

They’re a .500ish team with an extremely overpaid QB, coach and kicker

    • Winder said, on December 13, 2021 at 9:31 am

One true positive about the Niners is the desire and attitude is there. What we have is an overall talent shortage. Once our starters get hurt which they always do we really don’t have much to take their places. Since Jimmy really isn’t mobile we need our Ol’s to not only be good run blockers but pass blockers as well and that really isn’t happening. If you give Jimmy time in the pocket he’s a pretty good qb. IMO most of our problems are on the FO, scouting, and coaching. Shanny for being the genius he supposedly is has his moments but he doesn’t have the go for the juggler mentality which I think the Niners are capable of. Anyway, good to get out of this one with a win. Once it went to OT I didn’t give us much of a chance.

      • Flavor said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:24 am

agreed. The effort is there. Our CB’s are a joke tho, we can’t go anywhere if it’s just guys off the street and/or terrible rookies running around back there. Good QB’s will just abuse them

  5. alleykat69 said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:04 am

Shanahan is not overpaid in the NFL coaching circles actually he’s way down the list making just 3 mil ( 23rd on the coaching tree)until whatever his 3 year recent extension boost will pay him that will put him in top 5 temporarily which fills the Christmas Stocking nicely!
Belichick sits on top at 12.3 mil a year, and deservedly so he’s the best alltime( no disrespect to Walsh and many more)
    Then it’s Carrol 10 mil
    Payton 10mil
    McVay 9.8 mil
Freaking Meyer makes around 10 mil
Even Rhule&Kingsbury pull in 5.5 mil

Yeah Coaches get insane money thrown at them and it’s only going to escalate more
with what’s happening now in College programs are paying like USC for Riley&Kelly for ND way over 10mil and who really knows how much the King of College Football Nick Saban makes? besides owning the state of Alabama “Roll Tide”, throw in a luxurious mansion ,cars, exclusive country club, private schools the usual perks lol etc..

So the NFL ironically is up against College on the talent tree of new rising coaches which raises an NFL coach salary even more imo..

    • Flavor said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:23 am

i guessed on what shanny made. Thought it was more. Pretty sure our QB and our shitty kicker are at the top of their respective postiions

  6. chipower9 said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:09 am

I am not a huge Jimmy G fan, but he is our guy. I still think he can take us to the super bowl, AND win. I was looking at QB stats last night for shits and giggles, and JG has a higher rating than Mahomes, Prescott, Allen, Mac Jones, Carr and others. My biggest beef with JG he is slow to get the ball out at times. Key to me is for him to continue to not throw picks.

And I really doubt Lance is ready, but I do look forward to the day he gets the keys to the Ferrari.

  7. Flavor said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:34 am

ok maybe they aren’t the highest paid. That’s something I saw on twitter yesterday but looking at the salary lists they aren’t. Or maybe I’m reading those lists wrong. Jimmy does make more than both brady and stafford.

  8. Flavor said, on December 13, 2021 at 10:38 am

Gould is 39? WTF I had no idea he was that old. Expecting he’d just bang through a 47 yarder with him still fighting an injury (probably) was stupid.

    • chipower9 said, on December 13, 2021 at 11:16 am

He has hit from 52 this year. Probably his last year with us, but IMO the guy is not a “shitty kicker.”

      He 5/7 for 40-49 yards.3/4 on 50+. Long is 52.

  9. alleykat69 said, on December 13, 2021 at 11:10 am

Yeah 39 and obviously on the decline, not good when u can’t get a full season out of your freaking FG kicker!
There are 11 FG kickers making 4 million are more led by the best Justin Tucker at 5mil worth every penny being the most accurate and clutch alltime, followed by Gano?and Carlson? at 4.6 million just crazy and they make more then Butkner? Gould sits at 3.6 mil #14 one year left on a 2 year 7.25 mil contract yikes then find another kicker either draft are the multiple lower tier guy..

George of the jungle Kittle just set an NFL Record by registering back to back 150 yards receiving games 181 yards last week 151 this week, 332 yards out of a TE that’s some crazy production! He is on fire 🔥 Congrats he’s a BEAST when healthy!

Interesting, long article on Puig in the Washington Post.
It’s about multiple sexual assault allegations against him since 2017, and how MLB, teams and the players union have tried to keep those and similar allegations against other players under wraps. There’s a reason he won’t be back in MLB and it’s not just that he’s lost on-field skills. Remember some years back there was an incident the Panda was involved in down in Santa Cruz or somewhere around there, and that thing eventually just went away. Maybe MLB is actually better than the NFL at something, and that’s keeping the lid on stories about players attacking women…
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/12/13/yasiel-puig-mlb-dodgers-sexual-assault-allegations/

    • Bozo said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:24 pm

Unless you know of a new report in the investigation, I don’t think the allegation against Pablo “just went away”. It was investigated by the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s office and nothing from the physical, biological and witnesses helped corroborate the lady’s story. So, he wasn’t arrested, and the DA declined to prosecute.
I can’t believe the SC Sheriff’s department went lightly on this, I imagine they would have loved to bring charges and went after him full bore.

    • snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:58 pm

In my book, just went away certainly includes things that make a DA decline to press a case, like victim recanting, victim not cooperating (got paid, perhaps) and other lack of evidence after the victim first makes a complaint. Those things are covered in the article, including a point Latino players allege they are often the targets of baseless claims for blackmail, essentially, which may have some truth, but are also broadly self serving…

      • Bozo said, on December 13, 2021 at 2:20 pm

In my book, lack of physical, biological and witness evidence after an investigation does not mean a case just went away. There were no criminal charges and no civil case either. Not sure what your point is by including your speculation on Pablo’s case.

      • snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 6:15 pm

No civil case doesn’t mean somebody didn’t pay somebody something so there wouldn’t be one; that’s as old as civilization. My speculation about that possibly happening with Pablo as it is said in the article with allegedly other Latino players is no more speculation, if not less, than yours that the Sheriff’s office and local DA would “have loved” to go “full bore” after Pablo…

Well the way I see it is Kyle finally used all of his best talent for a change, personally I hope the Niners don’t get any of their top RBs back before the season is over.

    • willedav said, on December 13, 2021 at 11:57 am

mm G was 10-15 for 128 yds last 2 drives, and 2 of the misses were throwaways. Receiving core is very solid, agreed: just hope Samuel doesn’t get banged up running the ball too often.

    • chipower9 said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:16 pm

part of that was Kittle attracting attention of 3 defenders over the middle, including safety who narrowly missed getting to Aiyuk in time to stop him from getting in.

  13. willedav said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:10 pm

2019 Niners D embarrassed the great Aaron Rodgers twice. First game Nov 24 they won 37-8, Rodgers threw for 81 yds and got sacked 5 times. GB was 1-15 on 3d down.
Then again in playoffs Niners were up 27-0 at half and then 34-7 with 3 more sacks.
Aaron Rodgers got his ass kicked twice by superior D–it can happen to QBs far better than Garoppolo.

  14. unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:50 pm

I’ve been on the record for oh, about 8 season now that the Niners need to draft cornerbacks. I seriously don’t see the reasoning around shying off doing this in the higher rounds. Esp when you look at their dogshit record regarding high draft picks. Lenoir and Thomas are flat terrible, and there’s a reason why the coaches have been reluctant to use them. They suck. That being said, I HOPE they would have take Asante Samuel if he hadn’t been taken the pick before us in the 2nd round, where we got Banks.

Whoever scouted those guys needs to be shot, er, fired, or something. But last year’s draft was very heavy with a lot of great CBs and we passed on them all.

    • unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:50 pm

Again though, a great pass rush makes shitty CBs look fine.

    • snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 12:54 pm

One would have to assume the backfield coaches that don’t want to use them were involved in evaluating them for the draft?…

    • unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 1:18 pm

What’s even weirder is that these guys they trade up for (Pettis, Sermon, Joe Williams), all end up in Shanny’s doghouse before they even see the field.

    • snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 1:22 pm

I can see that maybe 4th rounders and above are a crap shoot to make the team, let alone become regular players, or starters like Kittle is, as a 5th. But, isn’t the rule of thumb something like 3rd rounders and below better make the squad and be quick to immediate contributors, else you’ve really blown it?…

  15. unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 1:19 pm

Even Aiyuk was doghoused for 6 games this season. Cost us a couple games if you ask me.

  16. snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 1:29 pm

Anybody concerned about Frank Gore getting into the fight game ? He’s supposed to have a bout on Dec. 18 in Florida. The guy has undoubtedly taken a ton of physical abuse and shots to the head over his long NFL career. I don’t think starting a fighting career at this late date is going to do him any good at all. I’m concerned this is just going to contribute to what may already be a short lifespan for one of the all-time Niners. Somebody should get him alone in a room and talk him out of this…

    • djloo27 said, on December 13, 2021 at 1:52 pm

    • Winder said, on December 13, 2021 at 2:15 pm

Agree, someone should talk him out of it. Not because of concussions but he’s got a real bum hip and his knees can’t be good. Maybe it’s a childhood dream of his and is only gonna do it once. I think professional fighters are the worse at leaving when they should.

  17. Macdog said, on December 13, 2021 at 2:16 pm

My memory of Gould in his one year with the Giants in ’16 is that he was okay, not nearly the great kicker he was in Chicago, although I just looked it up and he made all 10 of his FG attempts that year, the longest at 47. He also missed 3 extra points — 2 in a game vs. the Bears — so maybe that’s what I remember. Anyway, I’m a little surprised he’s still kicking around at 39. And Kat, Gano’s been very good for the Giants, unfortunately he’s being wasted kicking for one of the crappiest and most clueless organizations in the NFL.

    • alleykat69 said, on December 13, 2021 at 3:08 pm

Yeah your right MacDog…Gano has been very consistent 25-29 Field Goals made so yes he’s sadly one of the teams best weapon on a putrid team., wish the 49ers had him over old man Gould.I’m sure they’re GM Gettlemen? is getting roasted with the Giants right?
He goes out and locks up Golladay for 5 years and a shitload of money who was already in decline the last few years in Detroit ( never healthy same pattern in NY just a bad signing)Barkley just don’t see him as the explosive player they drafted, and what about Daniel Jones? Time to move on? Just looking like a clueless bust on a team that’s clueless as well.. Tough times in NY for the Giants and Jets but the Jets have more upside moving forward I would think 🤔 Giants have to fire Gettleman and start over imo..

      • Macdog said, on December 13, 2021 at 3:59 pm

Kat, you pretty much nailed it on the NYG. They need to clean out the entire operation from GM on down, but I’m not sure the owner will ever bring himself to do it.

      • unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 5:24 pm

Zack Wilson may not survive year 2 in NY. He’s getting crushed early and often. Same with Lawrence and Fields. Are those teams a year away? 2? Probably not, so they are gonna get pounded again and again. It’s the Alex Smith syndrome. What happens when they change OCs and coaches?

  18. willedav said, on December 13, 2021 at 3:12 pm

Dec 13 1983 was night NBA scoring record set as Pistons beat Nuggets 186-184 in triple OT. Isiah got 47, John Long 41 (18-25 from floor) for Detroit, Kiki Vandeweghe 51 Alex English 47 for Denver. those 2 combined for 21 boards and 15 assists. Nuggets shot 59% from floor and 82% of FTs (47 of 57). Starting guard T R Dunn took 3 shots in 36 minutes and made them all. Doug Moe coached Nuggets team was really fun to watch.
Oh btw 4 total 3 pt shots taken, 2 made, entire game.

so far in the first half of the Mon night game: Prater banged a 53 yarder, Gay hit a 55 yarder, then Prater just hit a 53 yarder to end the first half. This is where the kicking game has gone now. They’re all fucking big legged studs. Except our guy who is meekly slicing 47 yarders out of bounds.

I hadn’t paid attention to the news story about complaints Kobe Bryant’s widow had made about photos at the helicopter crash scene, but then I read an article about it in USA Today this past week.
She has every right to be livid with anger. Several of the first responders pulled out their cellphones and took souvenir photos of the mangled bodies, then later at bars and parties showed the photos to their friends. Ms. Bryant said she lives with the anxiety that the photos will eventually get out to the public. Several first responders were punished by being suspended without pay for a week or so, and they promised they deleted the photos, for what that’s worth.
They had committed an incredibly egregious abuse of their positions as first responders. A huge violation of the ethics and morality of their jobs, and their trusted position with the public. Firing them would have been justified. Ms. Bryant wants a stronger punishment than a week’s suspension, and not just a big cash settlement. One of the other families has already received a big cash settlement over this.

    • snarkk said, on December 13, 2021 at 7:35 pm

Ever since 9/11, there has been some kind of worship of “first responders” that did not exist before. I give them respect, but it’s their job, they chose to do it. Cops and fire personnel statistically have safer jobs than lots of other job types. And, many are paid extremely well, with short (20 Years or so) retirement qualifying periods, are politically connected, and have big time benefits and retirement pensions that most of us envy, all paid by us taxpayers. Suspension seems weak for that kind of egregious thing you mention, which seems a massive betrayal of public trust and what their jobs are about. “Settlement” is no doubt with taxpayer funds, so the behavior goes relatively unpunished…

Many retired early with serious injuries. Psychologically, the toll seemed to vary from person to person. I called a couple of deputy fire chiefs to tell them I was leaving City Hall and headed for the 911 dispatch center to meet them and they freaked out. Do not take the direct route! Not in your car. Aaron Donald puts an end to Kyler Murray’s night and shorthanded Rams win. Cards and Murray, plus Coach Kingsbury, take one on chin in their own yard.

  23. alleykat69 said, on December 13, 2021 at 9:03 pm

Difference between Dwight Clark’s great catch and George Kittle’s great catch
is Joe was really trying to throw it away, while Jimmy’s throw was his normal high throw on a lot of his throws and really only Kittle makes that catch among their receivers imo..

Agree with the announcers in the Cards/Rams game 1:30 left needing 2 scores take the FG then and hope you get the onside kick which the Rams butchered, and Murray would of had a lot more time left then 23 seconds.Just thought Kingsbury messed that decision up..

  24. unca_chuck said, on December 13, 2021 at 9:51 pm

Can’t believe Murray didn’t spike it. The O line thought he was going to and didn’t really block. Rookie mistake.

You haven’t heard by this point Joe and Dwight worked on the play in practice all the time? It was designed to go to Solomon but he fell. Dwight across the back of the end zone was the 2nd read. And Aiyuk makes that catch all day. Deebo as well.
