A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Covid Take Over

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on December 17, 2021

Just a new thread to keep the week moving. The number of covid cases in the NBA and NFL is staggering. And the fact that they don’t have to comply with a booster shot indicates this is going to be a very disruptive season for sports….

More news of weird–Jags GM is none other than…Trent Baalke.
Story on SF Gate couple days ago about leaks in J Ville notes similar things happened under Baalke with Niners and Harbaugh, and Kawakami tweeted about this as well. Baalke survived, Harbs got canned 2014. And Harbs quotes on Meyer coming up golden.

“Controversy follows everywhere he’s been.” Harbs, talking to Kawakami 2019,

Yeah, I was pretty sure back in the day that Baalke was the rat referred to by Singletary. Mainly because the rumors kept coming out irregardless of who the HC was. Whether it be Sing, Harbaugh, Tomsula, or Kelly.

Two NFL games on Saturday. One – Raiders/Browns went from Browns favored by 4 to Raiders favored by 1.5 due to Cleveland having like 10-11 players and their HC out with Covid. I think the line has actually moved to Raiders -3.5.

    Great news on Parham.
    Just a concussion.
Will be released from hospital today…

Chiefs have now won 7 in a row, 10-4 with 3 winnable games to close out season–Cincy Pitt Denver.
#1 seed now, and should be able to hold onto it. Um, last night wasn’t first time Mahomes held in check until exploding, as Niners fans know all too well.

    • djloo27 said, on December 17, 2021 at 10:28 am

You may never see a QB’s performance look so good on paper and so bad in reality.
Mahomes was absolutely terrible last night…

I truly learned to hate Baalke. I guess most people would say Joe Thomas was the worst GM in Niner history but to me Baalke is right there with him. Jax will go nowhere with him making decisions.

    I couldn’t stand Trent Baalke!
Just looking at him was creepy, and he had this voice
that was cold and shallow like it was rising from the
    depths of a grave!
Yeah I could easily see him being a rat 🐀 in the 49ers organization back then his face even looks like one.
It would be wise for Jags owner Shad” Chaka” Kahn to start all over and clean house with this dysfunctional organization, though he’s a dipshit himself and should never be running a pro team( but hey 9 billion net worth buys u what u want)how many winning seasons have they had in their existence 2are3? and he had this bromance to go get “Oscar Meyer Weiner Man”,when all other NFL teams were taking a hard pass on him
shows what little knowledge he has running a team( sound familiar? The York’s with their pass hires come to mind)

  9. unca_chuck said, on December 17, 2021 at 11:31 am

Yeah, I was dumbfounded when Trent Baalke got another shot as a GM. He rode Scotty McLoughan’s drafts to bolster his own resume but shit the bed the further and further he got from the Scotty drafts. He just looks the part of a football guy, but he is an idiot.

Jed gets negative points for backing him instead of Harbaugh, but Harbs and Jed had their own feud going on.

Can you imagine Bill Walsh telling Eddie D, “only men are allowed in here”? Eddie would have fired him on the spot.

    • Winder said, on December 17, 2021 at 11:41 am

Baalke has a big ego during his last couple of years he would be out on the field trying to coach up players especially on defense. Definitely not his job.

      • alleykat69 said, on December 17, 2021 at 3:22 pm

Right Winder…one player was Jimmy Ward who was pissed off that he said Baalke would come on the field and tell me before a game against the NY Giants: Do you know how to play cover 3? I was holding it in thinking wtf does he know? he’s never played any football in his life, stay off the field!
It’s one thing if it’s new GM John Lynch comes out and offers advice, he played and has a HOF Gold Jacket! Big difference..

Raiders-Browns moved to Monday. And we now got Tuesday Night Football: Eagles-WFT, Seahawks-Rams.

i think we sometimes forget how great this guy was.

    • djloo27 said, on December 17, 2021 at 7:27 pm

Is there a highlight reel of his intentional walks somewhere?

      • snarkk said, on December 17, 2021 at 7:50 pm

That’d be longer than Gone with the Wind…

  14. unca_chuck said, on December 17, 2021 at 7:47 pm

    It would take 6 hours.

Hah! My son turned me on to that when bila went down. Better than Bila by far.

Dubs sending the scrubs to Toronto for tomorrow’s game and I don’t blame them one bit ( though I’m sure Raptors fan aren’t thrilled but probably use to it by now)with Covid regulations/airport hassles etc. in Canada.Out are Curry,Green,Wiggins IggyPoole
Matter of fact Curry,Green and others are just flying back to SF.
Warriors will play with just 9 players, led by Kuminga and Moody..

  16. unca_chuck said, on December 18, 2021 at 11:00 am

No kidding. 2 back-to-backs on the road 4 days apart, and into Canada is ludicrous scheduling. I mean WTF??

  17. zumiee said, on December 18, 2021 at 11:13 am

The Kings had about half of their regular roster available last night, and put up a valiant fight for about three quarters, until the Grizzlies finally ran them off the court in the fourth.

    • willedav said, on December 18, 2021 at 11:49 am

Grizz are tough Zum, even without Ja Morant. Good young team on rise.
Warriors played better to start 4th Q without Curry and Green; lineup with Wiggins and 4 subs extended lead they had squandered in 3rd Q.

  18. willedav said, on December 18, 2021 at 1:54 pm

Showalter to manage Mets. hmmnn hope he’s OK with Alderson running things and making his roster.

    • Flavor said, on December 18, 2021 at 1:58 pm

Lol yeah cause if that dude is known for one thing it’s flexibility and sharing responsibility

      • willedav said, on December 18, 2021 at 4:23 pm

Didn’t Mets promote Alderson’s son in FO?

      • willedav said, on December 18, 2021 at 4:26 pm

Bryn Alderson (son) was promoted in October to Mets assistant GM.

  19. mrsprtdude said, on December 18, 2021 at 2:38 pm

Showalter always wins, just not quite enough. Think 1995. If not for the Edgar Martinez hit they move on. Maybe Yankees beat Cleveland, maybe not. He doesn’t get fired and he guides The amazing Yankees in 96. Now he is in HOF and Torre is just another retread below.500 manager

I’m surprised Deron Williams didn’t get injured walking to the ring.
