In the dead zone for baseball news these days. Thought I’d keep the line moving with this cool Christmas tree pic I saw on twitter yesterday….
TedSpe sighting at FB. Seems like just yesterday I was mopping up his sweaty head at the ballpark bar.

incredible.
He has really cleaned-up his act and is playing error free ball. 18-23 last week (78 % completion percentage) and that included two dropped balls. If those were caught, his completion percentage would have been almost 87%.
That’s also a testament for the Oline.
Absolutely. Controlling the line of scrimmage is the most important aspect of winning a football game (that and not making turnovers). Jimmy G has been great in not turning it over of late.
That baseball tree must be a bitch to put together!!! Has anyone heard one word about baseball negotiations between the two sides. We may have a significant cut into this coming season.
GHead – I have not heard jack shit on baseball negotiations. Not good. Hope they get their shit together.
My guess it they are all out playing golf.
Kings gave GS all they could handle and were in game til last 4-5 minutes. Good luck to them and fans. Gentry is cool and assistant D Christie was solid player in his day.
Tyrese Halliburton can run the team right now–so I’d trade De’Aron Fox. I like Fox but TH has higher ceiling,
Keep Buddy Hield–every top team has shooters and Kings need more of them, not less. GS did this in offseason, in addition to more size up front. As in Bjelica, someone Kings should have kept.
Find next younger version of Harrison Barnes. Doesn’t need to be spectacular, just solid team guy that fits in and can defend scorers on other team.
Doesn’t sound like M Bagley is that guy but idk.
Metu impressed me, and has lot of potential. Guy I saw at USC was often selfishly out of control and did stupid (and mean) stuff, committing hard fouls and getting T’d up.
Find a legit big to pair with Richaun Holmes/use off bench. Tristan Thompson is about done and Damian Jones has very low ceiling, ala Alex Len. Better teams do have posts that have to be defended.
Ha great shot of TedSpe, wonderful guy glad I met at Flap #2 (2011 maybe?) First and Main. Fun night with Flav Snarkk Blade eWisco. Think we talked to Pawlie too.
OK, just asking—isn’t it true that a vaccinated person who tests positive even though asymptomatic CAN spread Covid to others, especially the unvaccinated?
absolutely. I think the argument now is, if Omicron is milder than the other strains, essentially a bad cold, is this really something we should be shutting the country down for. I understand the elderly and people recieving cancer treatments are still at high risk. Still…..
From what I’ve read, the best info so far is that Omicron can possibly be spread by vaccinated people who are infected, but not symptomatic. Still too early for data of any substance on whether that spreadability is less than unvaxxed spreading it. The point is that Omicron still is deadly, as various places around the world have now sequenced Omicron as the Covid that has killed Covid patients. It may turn out not as deadly as Delta, but more people will get infected with Omicron due to it being more transmissible. Multiply a higher communicabllity rate by a smaller rate of severe disease will generate an S-load, maybe at least as much as the Delta, of very sick people (the vast majority unvaxxed) going to hospital and the ICU. People who already have had Covid, without being vaxxed after having it, are apparently not well protected against re-infection, this time from Omicron. Even TFG came out publicly the other day and confirmed he was boosted. Now, almost 2 years in, being voluntarily unvaxxed for no medical reason remains selfish and idiotic, if not even more so now. Last month, another neighbor had a relative (brother) die of Covid. He disliked dealing with medical people all his life, not just over Covid. Kept putting off the vaxx, though in his 50s and obese, and my neighbor arranged multiple appointments for him to vaxx up, which he avoided. So, he got infected in early November at his dentist’s office, and within 3 days after testing positive, his lungs were ravaged and he died in the hospital…
Even though GS and Curry and D Lee got going and hit 3s, the team also shot 34-51 from 2. Being able to create and finish those shots still really important part of the game.
That is why I am real psyched about Kuminga. He’s already got a strong inside game. Something the Warriors are decent in, but not great. They routinely get eaten alive by big guys inside, and I don;t think Wiseman is enough.
Melvin in SD hired Matt Williams as 3b coach, and Padres have added former SF assistant hitting instructor Michael Brdar as new hitting coach. hmmnn
This from Melvin, Brdar “talks the language that younger hitters are coming up and talking now. On the hitting end, you need to be able to reach these guys and speak their language.”
I think SD will be a lot tougher this year. It was fun kicking their asses last year but I doubt that happens again.
Brdar will be 28 years old next April …
The spiraling downward life of Aldon Smith continues.
Arrested again Dec 6th 2 car accident in Northern Calif
Blood Alcohol level blowing a serious.20 and a visible open bottle on
the front seat with marijuana as well.(Hey can’t have the one without the other right?)
This after earlier in the year he was arrested in Louisiana for a battery assault charge..
Sadly I don’t see but a tragic ending to his life soon, but hopeful no one is killed in his
out of control destruction.Aldon’s had so many people/football players/ organizations reach
out to him in support but in the end he never gets it..
What a dummy
Sad sad state of affairs. Dude could have been a helluva football player had he gotten his shit together. I am with you Kat…hope that no one else gets hurt in his path of destruction.
I don’t see how he’s bounced back as many times as he already has.
Dude is a stud. Great tools, but no brain. $million body, $0.10 head.
This is entering Steve Howe territory.
I don’t know how Ruggs gets through a day…
Lucky for him, he probably doesn’t remember anything about the accident but the aftermath is just awful.
Don’t know how I could live with myself if I did something like that. My brother was in an accident where someone ran a red light and t-boned him. He was 0.01 over the limit, and he ended up getting the felony. Even though he wasn’t at fault.
The cops handcuffed him to a street sign for 3 hours while the ambulance took his wife to the hospital. She had cuts and abrasions on her face from the windshield and side window shattering. The other guy who was at fault was fine.
That is just bad luck. A lot of states have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to substances and alcohol. It is just a good idea to not drive with even a little in your system. You just never know when some bad things come down.
Ted Spe looks like a fun cat…
Rec’ the booster today. More testing is crazy. Stories of tests done and negative, and getting the virus the same ay. lets hope omicron ends up being mild, cause we are in for it if not…
Willie, good job on the Kings analysis. I would just say that the situation with Fox is tricky because he has been marketed as the face of the franchise, and I think the organization would feel that trading him would be looking like yet another tear-down/rebuild. And yet the organization just seems to continue to spin its wheels like a car stuck in mud.
mm thanks Zum. tough call for Kings–I saw they were dangling Bagley and Hield. Fox I just worry might have hit plateau, and it isn’t high enough one for team to make playoffs if he is guy in charge. I think Halliburton has higher ceiling, better 3 pt shooter and distributor. Haven’t seen much of Davion Mitchell, hope he works out. Gotta have more shooters (and switchable perimeter defenders) in today’s game.
This doctor has had enough, and is leaving his job.

“What I can no longer handle is the screaming, not from the patients, but from the families. They are not screaming in anguish, or in recognition of how their foolishness has led them to this point. No, they are screaming at me. Because, you see, I am part of the global conspiracy to commit genocide. If only I would give 10,000 mg of Vitamin C – even though the body can only absorb a maximum of 100 mg a day, with the rest creating the world’s most expensive urine – they would be saved. Or hydroxychloroquine. Or ivermectin. Those have never been studied, they assure me, and when I tell them they have been, they snap that I don’t know what I’m talking about. I want, oh god I want, to tell them that if we are the ones responsible for killing their loved ones, then why the hell have they brought them to the hospital? Why throw them into our clutches? I know the answer: They know it is all lies. But their egos are so huge they cant bring themselves to admit it.”
A baseball tree is a nice change from the crab pot trees I see a lot of in these parts. I wonder if they are MLB balls shagged from BPs?
Great to see Tedspe, IMO he was always a fun read when he used to post here.
Tom, you’re right about Omicron: seems to be less deadly but highly contagious. I feel like 90% of the people I know here have gotten infected, but hardly sick. A friend who’s a doctor here said she thinks *everyone* here in Saigon area is F1 because F0’s are also everywhere. Thank goodness they’re not still locking up F1’s…. And Mrsprtsdude, we’ve had the opposite problem: loads of tests as false positive, but in they go to quarantine, only to fully test negative over the course of a week. Ugh. Overall, who the fuck knows, we just have to deal with it.
I think the coolest “Christmas tree” I ever saw was when I was Jeeping around Death Valley area and in the middle of nowhere saw a Joshua Tree standing alone in the high desert decked out with ornaments. Wish I still had that pic…
Got my Pfizer booster today. No fucking idea if it helps, hurts, if I’m a carrier, if I’m spreading it by going to the hardware store, or am I now invincible?
I just figure if everyone had done this a fucking year ago, it would be better. Right??
I don’t even know that anymore. Even then, the Omicron came from South Africa. How do we do anything about that? If the US was at 75% vaccinated, wouldn’t this shit still be flying all over the place?
The powers that be seem to be very quiet these days about what the hell toi do anymore. Handing out tests? Yay. Fuck, I don’t know.
Uh oh, looks like the booster results in a sudden inability to continue typing…..
Nevermind….
Heh heh. not sure what happened there!~~!!
My twisted mind tells me that Omicron will turn out to be the proverbial blessing in disguise and ultimately put an end to the nonsense and dictate a sensible way to deal with this shit in the future…
Agree, it could actually relegate Covid to “just another flu” thingee… IF it continues to demonstrate lower severity of illness…..
Man, the Lakers looked so overmatched against the Suns.
Maybe GOP politicians and Fox News will get tired of killing their supporters, and start trying to convince their supporters to get vaccinated.
Being vaccinated and boosted gives a person an exponentially better chance of not getting seriously ill or dead from the virus.
Unless you’re one of the J&J victims like me
Good for those who recently got boost. Mine bothered me a day later (pain in arm headache yada yada) unlike 2 reg shots and I’ve heard same from others who felt ill for few days.
Hope Loo and Zum are both right about Omicron…fewer deaths/more vaxed Americans (including children).
The Rams are tied for first place? wow
Meanwhile, cbs sports said, “The Giants clinch their 5th consecutive 10 loss season.” yikes
They clinched that before the season started.
Yeah I kinda wanted Seattle to win yesterday but it’s always fun seeing Pete lose.
Yeah Wille, another reason I’m not a fan of the 17-game schedule. Just one more game to lose.
And on the more serious topic…baseball…only 55 days until pitchers and catchers report.
This if ownership and the players can get their shit together…
All I want for Christmas is the lock-out to end…
I hate to even admit this, but I didn’t even know there were 17 games. Or I knew, but completely forgot. When did it expand to 17? Haha, probably years ago. Have I really been that out of it? Sheesh…. What a drag it is getting old…
