The Trey Lance era is here and hope it becomes permanent. No excuse if he was hurt in the game and I think he was after that sack because of how shitty his throws became (of course the last drive he looked his best in the game), but no excuse if he was not pulled if he had a torn ligament. The Shanahan era may be over as well.
unca chuck seems to think so, too. I don’t think they bail on Shanny, they are all in on him and Lynch and Jed is way too much of a pussy to pull the plug on these guys and start from scratch again. Seriously, you guys don’t remember how much he can’t handle that pressure I guess….
Here’s major issues of beginning of Lance era: One, how accurate of a thrower is he? Two, can he figure out what to do with the ball, as in make good decisions, in 3 seconds?
think about struggles of mobile rooks like Lawrence Fields Wilson yada yada. Watched some of Ian Book last night with Saints, who got sacked 3 of first 6-7 times he went back to pass, and threw a pick 6 when his pass on out route got tipped by D lineman.
I really enjoyed the beat down Miami’s defense put on the Rookie Book, yes 8 sacks, 2 picks, the first one on only his 2nd NFL throw goes for an interception TD return! And I have Miami’s defense in Fantasy and they amassed 25 points which is as good as it gets for a defense..
You can forget
Shanahan and Lynch moving on, well atleast Shanny, who was given an extra 2 year extension and I’m sure Jed will do that with Lynch as well. They didn’t give up all those picks for Lance not to have Kyle working with the boy wonder.Lance has been ballin in practice and there going with him now!End of the road for Jimmy .Should of left him in Nashville..
Well, there was a reason we did not see Lance for most of the season. I suspect that Shanny did not feel he was ready to get the keys to the Ferrari, permanently.
Did JG have an “Affeldt?”
No way they bail on Shanny/Lynch at this point or after this year.
Agreed. 2016 Falcons led league in offense and Shanahan was named top NFL assistant. After they lost the SB, he was hired next day by SF. If Niners fired him he’d be hired again in parity era NFL within 24 hours.
I doubt either Shanny’s or Lynch’s jobs are at stake at this point. We still have Jimmy to throw under the bus. But as we all know there are many moving parts to football. And, I have gained quite a bit of respect for how Jed has handled things ever since we got rid of Baalke, and for his community work. I think it all depends on who is whispering in his ear and hopefully Eddie is part of that. Anyway, we will see how well Lance has settled down. They have to teach him to get rid of the ball if nothing is there and to not automatically rely on his legs. We will know pretty quickly of he has some touch on the ball. I am hoping for the franchise that he does.
Never said Shanny was gonna get fired. Just that I don’t want Shanny coaching Lance. But if Shanny fucks these last 2 games up though and we miss the playoffs, the axe could fall. The fans base will go through the roof.
This season would be a major fail to miss the playoffs.
and you did say he’d be fired. And you’re overestimating the fan base, their reaction doesn’t mean shit:

I ain’t sad yet. I think with a new regime this team can be great next year. I just hope they don’t lollygag and not make the switch off of Shanahan/Ryans.
unca_chuck said, on November 15, 2021 at 11:13 am (Edit)
The players at least are showing a front of being in step with the coaches as of now. There is no infighting apparent to us outsiders, anyway. But I think if this is a blowout, there will be a reckoning. This poor play can’t last through the season without some kind of fallout.

The uproar around a failed season this year will bring about a coaching change. This was supposed to be a a Super Bowl contender that has completely shit the bed. If they go 5-12, bye bye Shanny.
Do we know for sure the pictures of JG are post Titans game?
Regardless of how shit goes this final two weeks, I see no way they make a coaching change, and with the injuries this year, I would not vote for a coaching change, even if they shit the bed the final two weeks.
this was always gonna be lame duck G season–given all the injuries and his up/down season (they win when he’s good with 0 ints, lose when he isn’t) Niners weren’t gonna win division or go far in playoffs. It’s a flawed group, with multiple injuries to DL, running backs, secondary. They have new DC, backup RT, and rookie corner opposite Josh Norman who sucks. Mitchell is a maybe, again and Kittle has been hurt and out too.
Mosely won’t play Sunday nor will Al Shaair and DJ Jones “will be limited in practice during the week.”
You can’t drop all this on Shanahan. If Niners were in NFC North or East they’d be no worse than 2nd and solidly in playoffs. As is they’ve already beaten guys like Cousins Ryan and Stafford and had Rodgers on ropes.
Went back and listened to the Titan postgame. Yes, the photos are from that interview.
Supposedly injury happened during the sack in the 2nd quarter. Regardless, I will be shocked if he isn’t done for at least a couple of weeks, and Lance starts the final two games.
I still think if we don’t make the playoffs Shanny could get fired.
Come on, man. As you serious? I posted that shit during the tailspin. You think Shanny would survive a 5-12 season? Even York isn’t that detached. He’d have no choice.
Charlie –
Why do you feel you can put whatever happens this season predominantly on Shanny? As others have mentioned we have had injuries to key players throughout the year.
I am going to say it now, if the Niners tank and lose the final two, and do not make the playoffs, I have $100 that says Shanny and Lynch will be back. No fucking way they make a coaching change after this year, IMO.
Kyle has been underwhelming for a while now. But there aren’t any slam dunks out there. Miners front office will see how he develops Trey next year and go from there.
I believe Jimmy is injured. I think he 100% lied to the coaching staff. What I can’t figure out is why he did this. He’s got a foot and a half out the door, there’s that. But there’s no reason to lie to the staff.
Playing for Billy Martin in Texas.Having drinks at a local bar with Billy after a game. Long story short, Billy got into a bar brawl which ended with Him handcuffed to a barstool and my new lacoste polo ripped. Cops were fans so we did make it to the next game.Miss ya pal! pic.twitter.com/EcOy8QT6bP
i rad someone say on twitter that Madden was a HOF coach, a HOF announcer and he changed the video game world literally forever. That is a man who did a lot in his life…..
Ah that’s too bad. He was great at whatever he did after he left coaching-books (reread them during Pandemic), commercials radio at KCBS yada yada.
Including winding up Hank Stram…heard him tell story on KCBS, about talking to Stram day before game in Oakland that there was some kind of outbreak in visiting locker room (can’t remember what he said, rats or something) and they had crew over there to deal with it but he wasn’t sure if it was all clear etc. Apparently Chiefs were definitely uncomfortable in there.
Really Sad to hear the passing of legendary John Madden!
I actually met him once at Ski Incline in Nevada where I was skiing at back in 1970.He just ended up sitting down at my table in a crowded ski lodge for lunch,he didn’t ski cause he had no cumbersome ski boots on.I was like 14 but knew who he was since I already was big into watching football 49ers and Raiders I followed both teams. He was bigger then life but quite humble, talking with anyone including myself and whatever dumbshit thought came out of my brain at the time.
Best HC the Raiders ever had.He was destined to lead a fiery bunch of hooligans to division titles and SB wins!
And his interactions with sports legend Bill King were some great highlights as well, “Get your fat butt off the field “ after a last second win” he was very animated on the sidelines which I enjoyed.
RIP John Madden your legacy will carry on forever!!
RIP John Madden.
He and Pat Summerall were and are the gold standard in football announcing.
Best football analyst ever, not even close. And, analyst I mean knowing Xs and O’s, and explaining those with a ton of entertainment value.
I almost ran over him once in a cross walk in Pleasanton near the Rose Hotel, which he owned and run by his son Joe (last I heard), and sometimes parked the Madden Cruiser in the back parking lot. He and family own a lot of real estate in the Tri Valley area, including a film and vid studio. He used to often go into the small bar area in the front of the hotel lobby mornings and have coffee and read the paper. My wife’s late mother and her step father stayed at the Rose once for a few days about 10 years ago, and he said that every morning they were there he went down early and just talked with John at the bar over coffee and John was as friendly as could be. Mrs. snarkk and I had dinner once 2 tables away from him at a place in Pleasanton near the Rose, I didn’t bother him — he was eating with two guys I didn’t recognize, but I heard them talking — mostly football.
Not to mention Madden was the HC of some of the most exciting NFL teams I ever saw. He coached the Raiders 10 years and had them in the conference title game 7 out of 10 seasons, finally getting one Super Bowl ring. He coached in some of the most famous NFL games ever — the Franco Harris “Immaculate Reception” game in Pittsburgh, the “Heidi” game Raiders v. Jets, the “Sea of Hands” game v. Miami, and on and on. What a great character, what a life well lived…
To this day John Madden has said that Franco Harris BS Catch haunted him the most in his outstanding coaching career!
Yeah I still remember that play like it was yesterday and it wasn’t a legit catch , but the referees would of been lynched if they reversed it in Pittsburgh…
I watched the 84 super bowl on a b/w tv in a dive bar in Oaxaca with a motley bunch of gringos mixed in with regulars. The Mexican announcers overrode the audio network feed, except for Madden. You could still hear him shouting in the background and see his telestrator graphics. We loved it.
The ONE thing NFL Films missed that would have mattered is whether that ball bounced. Madden swore it did, as did a bunch of other Raiders.
Chuck, the Niners have had 4 out off 5 losing seasons under Shanahan. It isn’t the injuries, it’s the bad clock management, the lousy play calling, the false start penalties, the lack off in-game adjustments, games like AZ where they come out flat and unprepared, on and on.
This is Shanny’s 5th season, we were Super Bowl hopefuls and we may miss the playoffs. 4 of 5 years.

Ian Book’s night: 12-20 for 135 yds 2 picks 8 sacks for -54 yds. Welcome to NFL bro.

I torn ligaments in my thumb diving for a ball once. There is no fucking way I could open up a bottle (before the cast went on)

They can lose the last 2 games and will be back for all the obvious reasons we’ve already discussed.
I’m serious just because you said you didn’t say that. Sorry for fact checking you, it’s been a slow day here at casa de flavor
Is there someone you’d like to take over?
Any interest in Bienemy?
Half a dozen teams should be in on Bienemy. Long overdue for being HC.
Kyle has been underwhelming for a while now. But there aren’t any slam dunks out there. Miners front office will see how he develops Trey next year and go from there.

cool Fergie J story from twitter
Being an out of control, violent drunk was once highly respected.
What’s happened to this world?
John Madden has died…
devastating news
i rad someone say on twitter that Madden was a HOF coach, a HOF announcer and he changed the video game world literally forever. That is a man who did a lot in his life…..
Madden was the GOAT of football announcers, no one even comes close now a days
Madden was a wonderful announcer I loved listening to him. He will be missed RIP.
Nothing to do directly with Madden’s passing, but sometimes I think of the great line from the original “Taking of Pelham 1,2,3″…
Screw the goddamn passengers!
What the hell did they expect for their lousy 35 cents – to live forever?
Ah that’s too bad. He was great at whatever he did after he left coaching-books (reread them during Pandemic), commercials radio at KCBS yada yada.

No. I think that was an expat celebration during one of KC’s SB wins.

Denver blowing out Warriors at half. But Austin Rivers needs to stfu– commits an obvious foul and he does not want any part of JTA.
Made up 18 points of 24 point deficit with 6 minutes left.
