A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Can’t Wait Till Sunday

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on January 13, 2022

Watched the free episode #1 of Joe Cool. So *cool*. Might have to bite the bullet and subscribe to Peacock. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia of Niners/Cowboys talking but even just watching a show about him in college was emotional for me.

I think we take care of Dallas this Sunday, I really do. We can stop their run and then hopefully dial up enough schemes to keep Dak off balance. Just do whatever the Broncos D did to them Dak was lost in that game. Dallas has star players but they don’t play like a star team. They are very beatable.

Unfortunately this will be the first road game in a while where Niner fans don’t take over the stadium.
I’m not going to say I trust in Jimmy G but I think he can get this done. And if he has a bad game that’s ok. What he did last week was incredible.

Pass rush like they had in second half vs. Stafford might produce same results from Zak. Dallas built up record in NFC Least. NFC West had 3 x 10 win teams, plus SF had to play both conference’s #1 seeds in GB and Titans.

Forgot to pass on these odds. Niners to face Bills in SB at 50-1. I have a $100 riding on it. Go Niners!!!

  3. Giant Head said, on January 13, 2022 at 7:35 am

I totally agree we can totally handle Dallas. And if we are built to do that we can then play with Tampa on the road and like out chances. Then it is just potentially a very very tough game for the nfc championship but maybe horrendous and or cold weather may tamper the exploration of our secondary by Rodgers. A brutal hand combat running dominant game favors us. So love the one odds and Bills certainly legit afc champion.

Sounds like you’re already on the cashing line, GH.
Nothing wrong with a little optimism…

    Wiggins points per quarter:

    1st- 206
    2nd-137
    3rd-152
    4th-103

Pretty big drop if you ask me. If Wiggins had GP II’s drive, he’d be the best player in the league.

    • willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 8:29 am

Yes it is. However, as I said he doesn’t start the 4th, so there’s less minutes. plus Kerr is using Curry differently in 4th, starting him instead of sitting him and bringing him back in after short rest. So who is always going to be first option and get all the screens, eh? With Klay back, now he’s 3rd option–he’s gonna get less shots up to begin with. If it works, who cares?
Sorry man, I love Wiggins game on both sides of ball. He’s a good defender and unselfish player who fits into system/takes good shots instead of forced ones to ramp up ppg, imo.

If the Niners can play a full 60 minutes, they can win by 10. Smash them in the mouth and they will wilt.

    • Flavor said, on January 13, 2022 at 8:39 am

agreed. We can win this game on the line of scrimmage, both sides of ball.

    • unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 9:16 am

Yep. We win the line, we win the game. That first Ram game, their D was demoralized after that first drive. And we took it to them in the 2nd half last week. What really made me happy was seeing Ryans blitz a few times. The 4 man D line was getting solid penetration, but there are times when you have to put max pressure on the QB.

A fast start will really put Dallas in a bind it as Dallas has never played well from behind.

Baseball talks to resume today. MLBTR story from couple days ago said first ST games to take place Feb. 26, so agreement needs to be in place within a month or so for things to start on time.

    • Flavor said, on January 13, 2022 at 8:52 am

the owners are not being upfront right now—they are deadset on this getting resolved at the last minute. Talks resuming today, IMO, it’s just fluff.

James last night, “…I’d probably appreciate Looney more.” I give him ton of credit for how hard he plays at both ends as undersized Center and all the screens he sets for Curry. Sunday game he got ton of rebounds having to work vs. huge Cavs front line of Allen Mobley and K Love. Hopefully he too can help Wiseman along as he develops.

Many years ago there used to be sports collectibles store next door to where i worked. Guy who used to run it moved to Midwest but is still in biz. Sent a note that in 2 weeks Ishikawa and Matt Duffy will be appearing at card show in Burlingame for couple hours on a Saturday. Tickets $60 =one double signing, photos extra.

    • djloo27 said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:04 am

      Career earnings per BR:

      Ishikawa: $ 2,443,000
      M. Duffy: $ 6,196,800

      When’s the telethon?

I like the matchup against Dallas. The 49ers have a more balanced team,Niners we’re 2nd rushing the ball only to the Eagles the last 8 weeks, they should be able to control the line of scrimmage, and Dallas ranked only 20th overall in defense against the pass.If Jimmy G can avoid dumbass picks, and the 49ers control TO possession they win this game…

Did watch the free episode of Joe Cool reminded me of my youth as Joe and I are the same age 65, playing all the same sports all day till dinner time!

    • djloo27 said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:11 am

Am I the only one who thinks 65 year old Bob Saget looked bloated and pale in the recent photos that are out there?

      • Flavor said, on January 13, 2022 at 12:47 pm

he had scleraderma I’m sure that effected him with the meds you take for that

    • unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:02 am

He’s been bloated and pale for 10 years.

      • djloo27 said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:13 am

Well then here comes the medical malpractice lawsuit from the grieving family…

  11. Macdog said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:11 am

Dallas’ overrated defense is completely reliant on getting turnovers. Take care of the ball and Niners should win the game.

  12. Irish Kevin said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:45 am

Have not watched any Dallas games, but in a few games the Niners players had the ball punched out of their hands. So take care of the ball and the Niners should be okay.

  13. willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:51 am

mm mention of Ishi and Duffy got me looking back on 2014 when they both got rings.

Trivia question: 2014 World Series vs. KC, only 2 players hit HRs for SF.. Name them.

    • djloo27 said, on January 13, 2022 at 10:58 am

All I really remember well about that series is the last inning.
      That’s embarrassing…

      • unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:04 am

You remember shit from the 60s down to a T.
        Crazy how the memory works…..

    • Macdog said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:02 am

      Pence and Blanco?

      • willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:10 am

Score for Mac! Blanco lol. Giants won the WS by hitting 2 HRs total.

      • xoot said, on January 13, 2022 at 2:14 pm

Juan Perez’s blast against the top of the CF wall in game 5 was only a double but it insured MadBum’s CG. I was 450 feet or more away and I could see the dent the ball made in the padding. Then the empty bullpen toward the end of the game was a profound sight — like a Mingus bass line thumping under the frenzy.

    • unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:03 am

Morse was one cuz his shot tied one of the games up.

      • willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:12 am

That was in the Ishi game vs. STL. Bum trailed 3-2 in 8th before Morse homered leading off to tie it.
casilla loaded bases in 9th before Affeltd got last out.
Single from Pablo led off 9th, Arias ran for him, one out later Belt walked (!) Ishi ended it.

All I gotta say is fuck Dallas, I hate em. Mistakes have been our biggest enemy keep them to a minimum and we got a shot.

  15. Winder said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:04 am

What a difficult FF season it was. I will never draft McCaffrey again total waste of time. Injuries happen all the time but with Covid it was challenging. I love Fantasy Baseball to but I only pick a few teams due to full time upkeep.

    • unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:08 am

Yep I got fucked with him as well. My best pick up was Cordarelle Patterson but he faded. My stupid league had a max 3 RBS/WRs on a roster so at one point all my RBs and WRs were on the IR and I had to lose Mitchell. Fucked my team up and I faded.

    • Flavor said, on January 13, 2022 at 12:46 pm

you guys should play at draftkings. Render injuries basically meaningless except if they get hurt the day you play them

  16. willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 11:26 am

2014 WS Royals hit 3 HRs–one each from Omar Infante, Moustakas and Sal Perez.
Can you imagine a 7 game WS nowadays with only 5 bombs?
Infante btw was on Tigers in 2012 when Giants won that WS. And was also with Tigers when they lost 2006 WS to Cardinals.

    • Winder said, on January 13, 2022 at 12:59 pm

Kinda figured that one. I still don’t really like it but I can see it moving the game along. Nothing is really like it used to be anyway most everyone is specialized now.

      • willedav said, on January 13, 2022 at 2:31 pm

Also opens up NL roster spots for Schwarbers of the world. Giants would not have to play Ruf in OF, but again another RH bat remains priority.

    • snarkk said, on January 13, 2022 at 3:23 pm

Great, now 4-hour long NL games. Yuk.
MadBum will lobby to be DH when he pitches…

  18. unca_chuck said, on January 13, 2022 at 1:37 pm

Yeah, done fretting about it. Don’t like it but hey nothing to be done.

My first taste of heartbreak. Crazy how quick the commercial breaks are.

And Twinfan’s dad Ray Scott is on the call with Pat Summerall.

What two Cowboys players played in the 1970 NFC championship game (Jan 1971) at Kezar (Cowboys won) and also in the 1981 NFC championship game (the Catch) played at Candlestick in Jan 1982?
