To The Frozen Tundra We Go
That game, wow, what a game. never seen one like that and probably never will again. In the end it seemed like 2 teams just trying to lose. But we got the W. I have little expectation for the game in Green Bay especially if we are without out 2 best defensive players. But we live to see another game! And that’s what it’s all about. I need AZ to win outright to go 5-1 on my picks.
We have really gotten lucky on the entertainment scale with these last 2 games. Each unreal in their own right.
Went 5-0 should have bet much more heavily. Garappolo did what we have come to expect try to throw the game away. The only thing we needed was for him to not make a critical mistake and he made a crucial one. Like the SB, we just needed him in two drives to just get a few first downs and they have a championship. We needed him to just do two things last night not to throw that awful pass and then to competently run that 4th down play and he hikes the ball too quickly. Both games missed completely wide open receivers. Play like that 2nd half have no chance in freezing Green Bay.
i hit 2 three game parlays and will hit another nice one if AZ wins tonight. Lost 2 parlays that had Philly on them :(. You tried to save me from them
Yes I saw that stink. First bet for next week teasing Niners and Bengals.
The other thing I thought Shanahan made a weak decision was that 4th and 1 first half and up 10-0. I wanted them to go for it and try and drive that dagger in their throat instead of kicking a FG. A td and three FG in that first half could have should have been a bigger lead. I kept waiting at the end for Dak just throw the ball up and our weak secondary would give up the Hail Mary that Romo kept jinxing us with. But instead we got the luckiest boneheaded move by Dax and his coaches to run that ball.
In a way Niner fans have been spoiled by some generational once in a lifetime players and coaches. No one can measure up to Walsh Montana (Rice too) because they were absolutely the best not only of their day compared to everyone else but long after. It’s just unfair to compare anyone in current regime, who have now won 8 of last 10, to these two.
Defense overcame mistakes made by other facets and held down Zak and boys enough for W in hostile territory. They did same thing week before, and likely will need to do so again vs. Rodgers…a guy they almost beat before earlier in season, and someone they thrashed 2019, twice. And if not, everyone breathes sigh of relief and the backup QB finally takes over full time job..
Kinda funny to read Cowboys fans reactions in Athletic.
Team was unprepared by head coach to start game, undisciplined and McCarthy outcoached once game began.
Play calling by O and D unacceptable. Mac does neither but these are his and Jerry’s guys.
Dak is not big time QB capable of playing winning playoff football and never will be despite massive contract. Too hesitant, doesn’t read defenses well or move around much yada yada. And post game comment about supporting fans throwing beer bottles at refs doesn’t say much for his character either.
Funny thing about Dallas coaching staff too–would the very disappointed Jones fire Mac? What about assistants, as both Moore and Quinn will interview for other head coaching jobs. So what does Jones do–let them walk (lot of talk both overrated to begin with) or promote one in Mac’s place?
Gonna be fun to watch As Jerry’s World Turns offseason…which starts today.
They were throwing shit at the players.
No. That’s what Dak originally thought but when he learned otherwise, he was all for it.
In the end it was a gutsy win. Our defense made plays when they had to. It was our mistakes on offense that made this one even a close game. But it’s still a win in Dallas. Which makes my heart feel good. No 49eer game is secure until the time clock runs out. If we get Bosa back and hopefully Warner also I give us a 50/50 shot at GB Saturday. Rodgers and get got if we don’t give him time.
can
Happy MLK day to everyone. Democracy should take center stage today.
Should, but who knows? Good luck with that! Jimmy didn’t let Williams get set, Jimmy threw the pick, and Jimmy overthrew Aiyuk. Most of the reason it was close and agonizing fell to Jimmy’s shoulders.
The only hope is the Republicans finally stop backing the Maggot in the red hat. Some republicans are finally admitting that the election was fair. If they can divide themselves, it’ll help in the mid-terms.
B.B. King was staying at same Gaston Motel in Birmingham Alabama where MLK was early May 1963, in following days after Bull Connor turning his fire hoses and dogs on children and protesters. Day after MLK left, bomb was hurled and detonated at room 30. B. B. said, “We were two doors apart. We knew it was for him.”
This from great new bio “King of the Blues” by Daniel de Vise
Yeah, the 60’s were full of peace & love.
Willedav- I think I read you were from Sunnyvale. I lived at the Russo Motel for about 4 years. They were some of the best years of my life.
where was that? Name doesn’t ring a bell. Early 80s I had warehouse gig driving forklifts just off Mathilda close to 101. The hotels near there on frontage road, Ahwanee iirc, always had cops close at hand.
No it was an old motel near the corner of Mathilda and El Camino. I brought it up just in case you might have known some people who lived there also. You can’t imagine how hard it is to find a Bill and Bob Brown in California. Thanks anyway.
The Motel was actually on El Camino near the corner or Mary Ave. not Matilda. It has been a long time.
For a team that totally dominated the Cowboys the 49ers in the end give everyone a cardiac arrest!
5 sacks,a pick, time of possession only 5 penalties for 58 yards to Dallas killer amount of 14 for over 100 yards ( more then anything cost them the game on some really stupid penalties)and yet it comes down to à bogus spot and offside penalty on 4thand 2 inches ferchrissakes and a bonehead play by Dak running then not handing the ball to the ref to finally end it this madness!!
Oh and Btw on the 4th and inches play…Have any of you guys ever see LT Trent Williams trying to line up at RT? He looked confused was late getting over then doesn’t get set in time before a Jimmy rushed the snap. It felt like a conspiracy going on to let them get the ball back between the previous double spot call that miraculously comes up 2 inches short on the re spot to a simple sneak with their best OL man playing out of position…
Whatever the result in Green Bay, Shanahan and Niners have provided some crazy, outstanding wins the past two games, and have earned Shanny off the hot seat going into next season. If they had a top 10 QB who actually could hit wide open WRs, and not overthrow into INTs on guys open 10 yards in front of him on a rollout right to his throwing hand side, they might just be nearly unstoppable. Niner D looks like it is peaking at the right time as to health and form, especially secondary. Hopefully Bosa and Warner will be able to suit up. And, two things. Just leave Josh Norman off the active list, please. And, somebody wake up the Special Teams coaching staff this week to have some sort of plan for punts in various situations…
I honestly didn’t think Shanny’s job was really at stake for next year. I guess if we continued to go downhill from the AZ game then maybe he would have been axed. We just got to quit making mistakes and the buck stops at the top.
I don;t know. If they had blown this game, the outcry would have been deafening.
Just like it is in Dallas right now. Thing is, Jerry Jerkoff might pull the trigger. Snappy Khaki might be Arlington bound. (this is the pre-fucked up the drums vinyl release)
Who do you think is a top 10 QB? G has just beaten Stafford (twice) and Prescott.
Prescott is a joke. He does the least amount with the best team around him. Dallas was 6-0 in the NFC Least and 6-5 outside of it. The NFC and AFC East should be banished to playing college teams.
Stafford has how many playoff wins? 0. Wake me when he does something.
Jimmy is great at times, but too inconsistent. Waaaaaaay too inconsistent. Jeff Garcia wouldn’t have thrown that pick yesterday. Garcia is pretty much my benchmark for quarterbacks on the Niners. He was solid, better than DeBerg, better than bono, better than a lot of guys, but not spectacular. He got the job done but needed some help. He had shitty teams around him a lot of the time as Eddie D was getting busted and the team was dismantled, but won some tough games filling some big shoes. I think he’s better than Jimmy G. Esp with today’s rules.
That pick was even below a rookie mistake. Unfuckingbelievable he missed that throw so bad. There was NO ONE blocking his view. The guy was right there in front of him and he sailed it wildly. He makes absolutely brain-dead decisions at the worst times. The pick in the end zone in the Tennessee game, same thing. The LB is in front of Kittle and Jimmy throws it to the lb. In the fuckong end zone.
It isn’t that he throws picks. All QBs do. It’s the abject cluelessness with which he throws them.
Report:
Jimmy G has sprain of throwing shoulder…
Well that’s good might as well add a right sprained shoulder to go along with a right sprained thumb.
I just don’t see there being that many truly elite QBs in NFL right now. After tonight G will be one of last 8 still playing and has won 8 of their last 10. Unlike Prescott Cousins Ryan Wentz Hurts Tua Wilson Carr Mayfield and any of the highly drafted rookies.
Everyone is having a bad year. Except for Brady and Allen. And Rodgers I guess. They are the best looking. Mahomes is doing well as he finally adjusted to teams taking away the deep throws. Stafford is a hot mess. Murray has struggled wildly without Hopkins. Big Ben yesterday was pathetic. He didn’t complete a pass over 5 yards in the air until the 3rd quarter. Hurts? no, sucks.
Herbert is fun to watch, but he’s erratic as all get out. Same with Burrow. These young guys are being asked to do a lot. Esp Allen with all the running he does. But Carr? Please. He throws a mean deep ball, but he has a lot of Jimmy in him. Cousins is not even worth mentioning.
There’s your top 10.
Don’t know what happened to the NFL this year, but this has been an absolutely weird season. COVID hangover? Lingering issues with little actual practice in pads? No more 2-a-days? No idea, just that anyone can win this.
I like Herbert alot. He would’ve been in playoffs if not for his idiot coach.
Kyler Murray, YIKES!
Heh heh.. Ron Jaworski-ike on that one!!
starting to think AZ might not bring this one home for me.
Yep, AZ is getting their azz whooped.
I thought LA would win but not cover. Guess their frustration from last week has fueled them a bit.
Would be fucking nuts to face these guys a 3rd time in the NFCCG. And win.
When do the Cards put in McCoy?
The Niners, to me, just seemed faster and quicker than the Cowboys.
I was watching the Nuggets defeat the Lakers by 37 points the other night, and the Nuggets just seemed to be player at a higher speed than the Lakers.
I’ve quoted from Jerry Kramer’s book about his time with the Packers in the ’60s before, called “Instant Replay.” The quote about how it’s impossible for a team to be up for every game. It’s just impossible. I get that for the regular season, which is what he meant, I’m sure. But it’s inexcusable in the “one and done” NFL playoffs. The Cowboys started the game so flat. How does that happen? We’re grateful that it happened. The Niners, for their part, just came out and jumped on the Cowboys.
Sometimes it just happens. Look at AZ tonight. They aren’t a bad team, but they were down fast and couldn’t do anything right. It can spin out of control pretty fast. Wish we could have put TDs on the board rather than those FGs. We could have beaten Dallas bad but couldn’t put it away.
