Super Bowl Time!
As I get used to traversing the earth a half inch shorter (gosh, I can see so much more of what’s going on down here now!) we have more important things to deal with than my fractured back. It’s The Super Bowl. The sting of the Niners loss has mostly subsided and I’m just excited for this game. Has their ever been a Super Bowl you weren’t excited to watch? Putting some money down helps. I’ve got my customary 20 teams at draftkings and then instead of betting on a team to win I prefer to try to nail the exact point total a team scores. Keeps it interesting no matter how the game unfolds.
I have LA scoring 18, 19, 22, 26, 29, 33 points
I have Cinn scoring 16, 17, 22, 26, 29, 33 points
odds range from 12-1 to 40-1 and I’ve got various denominations on each number.
So who is going to win this game? I settled on one of two outcomes: either Cinn wins a squeaker or LA blows them out.
That sucks, Flav. Painful as all hell. I have compression fractures on L4 and L5 from a gardening mishap. A 100 gallon garbage can full of dirt and weeds fell on me while I was pulling weeds. Felt like I got shot in the back. I was laying there in the mud for 15 minutes with the dog in the avatar barking till my son came out. He couldn’t move the garbage can off me so he got my neighbor. Yep, not 6’2″ anymore.
how did recovery go? When did this happen, are you limited at all now because of it?
idk, all I’ve heard all week has been Aaron Donald and how dominating Rams are on D.
what? Niners torched them first time they met 31-10.
Second time they met Rams blew 17-0 lead to Garoppolo and Co. and lost again, at home, to bring Shanahan-McVay matchup to 6-0..
Last time Stafford threw one right to Tartt, who couldn’t hold on and Rams won on late FG.
I can see them winning against team Niners also beat, but hard to be impressed. And they could just as easily be outdone by Burrow and co.
i just don’t know how Cinn OL is gonna hold up against the Rams DL
yes, most imp match up. But Burrow is pretty explosive himself and has plenty of weapons around him including running game. Rams can’t crowd box and get away with it like they did vs. Garoppolo. LA seems more capable of self destructing on both sides of ball.
Sad to hear of passing of noted educator, pianist and trombonist Mark Levine. Credited for influence by local greats Rebeca Mauleon and Benny Green, founding member of Berkeley’s Jazzschool, and bandleader of group Latin Tinge. Saw him play with Cal Tjader’s group along with Poncho Sanchez, at downtown San Jose’s St. Claire Hotel.
Rams by 7 seems like a reasonable guess. Warriors pulled one out luckily against a pretty inept Laker lineup as a whole but don’t understand the lack of trying to grab a vet big Man. They desperately need one. What about Kanter if and when released!!? Nurkic free agent next year? Would be a perfect fit.
i like the idea of Kanter except he don’t play D at all and that’s a no go for the Dubs
Ok fair point. Ibaka was my preference but Bucks more savvy
No, guys out there suck and aren’t worth roster spot. They’re committed to Looney and Green, and can make that work. However, listening to Tolbert and Roye on radio for small bit last night, they are not playing well right now. Allowing rook like Reaves go 5-5 and second year guy Horton-Tucker to score 17 off bench while Curry misses 7 of 8 from 3 is not good look. Klay bailed them out last night but they weren’t so fortunate vs. Knicks (another sub .500 team) and Utah.
where the hell is Wiseman? Is he breaking the record for longest recovery time for an injury like this?
he did play contact 3 x 3 this week. Remember he had to have extra clean up surgery in Dec.
I also didn’t mention Andre, who hopefully can give them some minutes off bench come playoff time.
It’s games like this that remind just how much I dislike the Rams. Same with the Dodgers. I guess LA fans feel the same way about us. Today I am a huge Cincy fan.
One thing to remember in this SB game is the coin toss, the team that has won the coin toss has lost the last 7 SB games! So I’m hoping that’s the only thing the Rams win…
i got a sizable side bet with my boy BirdDog on the coin flip. I think heads is a freaking LOCK!
Tails never fails, is the way I alwaysgo.
Shit, I already lost 20 bucks.
Prop bet on Joe winning a SB?
He could become the 5th Joe to win a SB.
Joe Namath,Joe Theismann,GOAT from my time Joe Montana (4) and Joe Flacco..
Man, I’ve lost track of all of Chuck’s horrific injuries. That dude is a survivor!
Yeah your right Zumie.
Thinking of taking a prop bet on Chuck if gets injured before the kickoff?
Lol.
yuck, Britney Eurton doing interview at Santa Anita with trainer in black Rams shirt with huge yellow letters. I’ve also seen her in Dodgers caps, deal breaker.
yeah she’s a huge Dodger fan. Irritating, but not a deal breaker by a longshot 🙂
I can’t find anything of interest in this Super Bowl. I’m not a gambler or Fantasy player. Sure, I want the Rams to lose, but these aren’t the Rams of old. They’re kind of bland and corporate. Go Bengals, with a bunch of players I’ve barely heard of.
I’ve really gotten into audiobooks lately. It’s cool getting read to. The audiobooks these days are really well done, with terrific readers, giving voice inflections to different characters. I’m currently listening to “All The Light We Cannot See,” a brilliant novel by Anthony Doerr, set in France during WWII. My local library has lots and lots of audiobooks. It’s a treasure trove.
I haven’t seen any of the baseball preview magazines in stores yet. It seems kind of late for them. I wonder if the lateness is connected to the MLB labor struggles. Maybe the magazines are waiting a bit to see how things are panning out.
Epic fight between a singer and drummer onstage. The singer wasn’t diggin’ the guy’s drumming, and the drummer took umbrage at the criticism.
50 years ago yesterday Feb 12 1972 Allman Bros released Eat a Peach which included great verson of One Way Out (taken from stuff leftover from Live at Fillmore East) with Duane Allman, who had passed Oct 1971. Man what a tune.
yep. my favorite Allman Bros song.
My very loose Super Bowl connection: a few years ago I attended 50th birthday party for stepfather of Bengals long snapper Clark Harris. Go Bengals for me, 26-23.
I just wish this would be over already so I don’t have to hear the parade of dumbbell talk show callers refer to them as “The Bangles”…
go take a look at Susanna Hoffs. She’s like 63 and still hot as fuck
Sorry to hear about your back, Flav. Hope you were able to get a mess of sausage and a new pair of boots outta that gator. Take it easy and listen to your Docs and PTs.
Heads wins!
told everyone heads was a lock! my boy bird dog just lost a mint to me!!!!
What’s your system?
2 plays, 2 cliches from Michaels…
The over’s looking good!
Afraid that was gonna happen after the fail on 4th and short.
Kendrick Lamar is really really good. Bengals make smart adjustments and go all out, successfully, in the second 1/2.
Guaranteed Prop bet winner having Bengals FG kicker Evan McPherson watching the whole halftime show just chillin 😎 how cool is this kid!
Mmm
2nd half off to fun start.
Well that sucked, for me anyway.
Sucks for me as well Bozo!
Any sport involving LA teams suck always!
Fuck the refs as well for always taking a game away with their penalties down the stretch..
I hear ya Kat.
dumb. Don’t ever take for granted what Joe Montana could do at the end of a game. Ever.
Haha, I was just going to post something like that….
But it’s nice to see that Dubon is ready!
hate to say it but LA’s stars dominated when it counted. Kupp vs Chase? chase disappeared:(
Donald grabbing the Cinci RB when he was mostly by him and just pulling him back was crazy. last Cinci play he would not be denied. Same ending as Niner game. Kupp every play on the last drive, followed by Donald for the win.
