All Star Game AND Wordle is Now Over
Haven’t really paid much attention to it. I caught a glimpse of LeBron’s team and he looks to have Durant over a barrel. JTA is in the slam dunk contest and I guess it’s nice to have some Dub rep there but I can’t see him making much noise. Three point contest without Steph is dumb.
I am now officially ending, today, the Wordle craze. I found out during today’s game that if you guess a correct letter and there are two of that letter in the word you only get the letter in one spot. THAT is total freaking bullshit and I am canceling that game as of today. As the great San Dawg said, “you’d never see Pat Sajak trying that type of low level trickery.”
Feb 17 1967 John Mayall releases third LP for Bluesbreakers, “A hard Road.” Lead guitarist Eric Clapton has been replaced by one Peter Green.
I always thought that was the second release of the bluesbreakers. Good stuff.
Watched lot of left coast college b-ball last night (great win for St. Mary’s over USF) and Pac 12 continues to self destruct. Oregon got blown out by Coach Bobby Hurley’s 9-15 ASU, after losing home game to awful Cal last weekend. Stanford loses at home to Utah, a team with 2-13 league record coming in, who hadn’t won road game in league in over a year.
They are getting 3 teams in, maybe less than WCC and Mtn West.
SMC game was fun close game to watch in their small gym and their point guard Tommy Kuhse is really good. USF was led by equally good shooting guard Khalil Shabazz (22 points), from Rainier Beach HS in Seattle, where Spurs Dejounte Murray went.
Ha great pic. iirc A’s Bert Campaneris did it, as did Twins Cesar Tovar.
Wonder what Posey did with that beautiful mitt.
Yeah had my first Wordle fail today. And I’m in Twitter jail.
I’m going to bake ya a cake with a PDF file inside to help break you out of Twitter jail.
lol. i’m bustin out of this joint.
What’d you say to go to Twitter jail
I was commenting on a tweet about Mike Pence giving a talk at Stanford for the Republicans for fascism in America or some shit. I said. ‘Let’s all give Mike a rousing ‘Hang Mike Pence!’ to make him feel at home.
that sounds worse than me telling John Hinckley Jr. to bash his guitar over his head. Man, twitter needs to let me moderate that place. They are WAY too sensitive.
MLB and players meeting yesterday was essentially dropping off to each other a packet of documents. Screw both of them, especially the owners. Ownership is attempting to gut the minor leagues even more than last year. This, even though now they pay minor leaguers virtually nothing. If they largely destroy the minor league system, it seems to me the logical result is that the quality of ball at the MLB level eventually will decline. The greed of ownership in what is a game that is nationally headed into the pro sports ICU is dispiriting to this life long fan…
Meanwhile . . .
Hey Loo
Talked to my mentor buddy, Oakland native Italian about 3 pt line.
he said move it back a foot and more if necessary. As for sideline he said it’s OK to leave that where it is.
Was telling me he once met Meadowlark Lemon in Vegas and got signed copy of book he wrote.
Also has an autographed baseball from Gaylord Perry at ST event he went to in Arizona.
Kinda glad football is done now; just need baseball to replace it. Oops… One final football-related thing, it was interesting to see that vid of Stafford and the photographer who fell off the stage while taking his photo at the celebration. Even more interesting were the comments, often split: not Stafford’s fault she fell, he didn’t owe her anything to help, etc., countered by what kind of person walks away from someone who just fell off a cliff, etc. Looked to me like he was just very drunk and didn’t know how to deal with it….
Just saw that vid.
Stafford – what a dick…
That was certainly my first thought too, but then I thought, maybe he was actually being very proactive and walking over to security to tell them someone just fell off the stage. By many accounts, he’s a good guy. But man, not a good look, walking away, especially when his wife went to see if the fallen was ok.
Stafford looked terrible there with his 180 water sip move. But I think it’s lame he’s paying for her medical care. For starters, he’s only doing that for optics. Secondly, he can’t walk the earth paying for medical care for everyone he sees fall down and injure themselves. And if you do some digging, that chick is a terrible person with lots of racist social media posts she’s now scrubbed. Fuck her.
It’s a world full of mostly garbage people.
Except here…
ha, agreed. Made me think of Stylistics “People Make the World Go Round.”
Vibist Milt Jackson did nice jazz version of that in 1972 for CTI, on LP Sunflower. featuring Freddie Hubbard Herbie Hancock Ron Carter Billy Cobham and elaborate arrangements of Don Sebesky.
Well, Stafford’s wife asked her to take a pic of them. So they were kind of involved. And his spin move to bail was weak. But she did fracture her spine. Pretty big fall.
Stafford’s wife asked her to take a pic of them? That sounds unlikely, they have 8 million people snapping pics of them all day long. But whatever, if that’s true then they are most definitely involved and it makes Stafford water sip bail 10 X worse. Where’d you read she requested the pic?
Twitter thread. That’s how i eventually ended up on the Stanford Republicans for fascism thread.
“Video footage saw Kelly and Matthew ask Kelly Smiley to take a picture of the two together, but she stepped back and fell off the stage. Matthew was heavily criticized online as he simply turned around and walked away instead of helping; wife Kelly suggested later on social media that he was heavily intoxicated.”
ok but that came from something called hellomagazine.com. Gotta check sources man. That’s a pretty big difference if they ASKED her to take the pic. Some dopey rag gossip mag like this is not what i’d be sourcing.
Would you believe KNBR? Everyone and their brother reported the exact same thing.
The quote you used was from some rag gossip site. And besides you and then I actually haven’t read that anywhere.
HOF receiver Charley Taylor dead at age 80. Tremendous player, started pro career as more of running back after being drafted out of Arizona State but once they put him outside career took off. Tons of highlight plays.
