PLAY BALL!!!!!
Finally.
Now that the children have stopped fighting over their billions it’s time to get back to the business of why we have Summer in the first place. There is actually A LOT of action about to happen. The free agent window is tiny and the Giants have many millions to spend. Everyone’s off Bryant and the buzz names are Schwarber and Castellanos. Neither of those guys sounds like a good fit to me. Could we get our old Paly favorite Joc Pederson? How bout the Japanese fella who’s name escapes me at this early morn hour….
Truth is, I don’t really care. Baha! Farhan will sign guys that I will blindly support and we will get baseball every day and every night the way God intended it.
mmm Z has to get this right, with short window/lot of teams competing for talent when it comes to trades and FAs. They’ve had 100 days of lockout to figure out who they want to go after. Suzuki the RH OF would be great, but Giants have other holes to fill. No more Aaron Sanchezes, Tauchmans, Wislers or Brebbias. And 2 more years of LaStella isn’t something to look forward to either.
Playoffs will be tougher with more teams in it/ post season games to be played. Elephant in room is still down there 400 miles away.
I am so happy that we get to hear Play Ball soon. I don’t like all the politics and greed that goes along with the game but I guess that has always been there. To me it’s just all about the game. Can’t wait.
Also, the SD Chargers quietly became true contenders yesterday. The got Kalil Mack for peanuts. They will now have Mack and Bosa on the same line. Carr, Mahomes, and the newly Wilson, just got a little chill.
Mahomes has bigger problems.
He’s marrying that disaster this weekend…
honestly, that says so much about him. What an idiot.
better angle. This is so fucking rad.
Makes me almost like the NBA again. Definitely like Curry.
Satisfying W on lot of fronts. Very cool of Steph to do this.
Jokic has morphed into another Doncic, constantly whining and complaining about getting fouled. He’s subtler, slashing his hand across his forearm, but message is the same. He backs down Looney, whom he outweighs by a listed 60 pounds, with a Shaq move of plowing into him and moving him back a foot at a time while Looney is in perfectly legal guarding position.
Once he gets close enough he has nice pivots and shots to finish. But how he gets so close to begin with is BS and he’s the one who should get more fouls, not the opposite.
Both Steph and his wife Ayesha seem like great people. They still sponsor programs and events in Oakland.
my son already secured tickets to opening day. my delight is really not rational. but it’s real.
awesome Xoot. Thanks for clarifying the players grievance against A’s, though I’m still not sure how much they might collect or when, which was a part of story I read from Slusser and Kawahara. All it says is “The A’s will be phased back in as a revenue-sharing recipient under the the new cba…”
Wonder how this will affect what they do with guys they supposedly have on block, couple of whom would fit Giants quite nicely.
They will ship them off to SD or AZ like they always do.
I saw that. And isn’t it great to have live-action baseball tweets again?
It happened.
2yrs/$44million
Keep ’em comin’…
this is the kind of starting gate I like
The refs let Jokic get away with traveling, too. The TNT broadcasters will say “Oh what a great spin move,” as he picks up the ball, pivots on one foot, and then pivots on the other foot. It’s traveling. Always has been, and always will be, even if the refs let him get away with it.
Boom Z lands a Frazier like first blow, left hook to Friedman’s body
Hey Wille, the Rutgers strength and conditioning coach got T’d up twice and was ejected, costing 4 points vs. an Iowa team that doesn’t miss many FTs (25-27 today). Iowa was the better team, and it was a poorly officiated game from the RU POV, but jeez, that can’t happen with the strength coach sitting at the end of the bench getting 2 technicals.
Whoa what’s up with that? Iowa is rolling right now. Keegan Murray is tremendous, brother Kris not bad either. Big men give them problems but I saw Indy knocked off Illinois.
The Warriors showed how to beat the Nuggets. It’s the same strategy the Celtics used early in Jordan’s career. Accept the fact that he’s going to get his, and just limit everyone else. The Bird Celtics beat the Jordan Bulls all the time like this until the Celts got old and Jordan’s team added more pieces to it.
Well hell yeah let’s go gentlemen! Win win, Playing 162 and they shortened spring training. They didn’t lose games and they got it figured out. I’m happy with that. If they had missed a single game, I was about to be a Martinez Sturgeon fan.
Who starts the opener, Webb or Rodon?
Mac…Gotta believe it would be Webb, he was one of the best pitchers in baseball in the second half.
Z started him in the opener against the Bums in the playoffs, so he will continue to reward him by starting the opener imo..
One of the best parts of the Posey retirement speech, I thought, was his praise of Webb, describing how great it was to see the kid turn into an ace and a leader. I don’t think Buster is the only one affiliated with the team who feels that way. After a smooth ST — gotta be Webb.
Really good signing,Z works his magic again with a 2/44 prove it contract with Carlos Rondon who was one of the most coveted F/A pitcher available .I think the 2nd year is an Opt out so u don’t get burned to bad if he flames out.Z is a by far a master on not going long contacts on pitchers.
It’s all about his health, but he was one of the most effective pitchers and a lot of swing and misses in his arsenal.
Low risk/ high reward like Gausman,Disco and Wood were that paid off.The SP staff is really starting to shape up nicely..Webb,Rondon.Cobb,Disco and Wood and maybe Hejelle and last shot Beede lurking 👀
Let’s get that Bat are 2 next!! Suzuki would be the guy for me, are Castellanos..
Great Farhan deal with Rodon. I would start him and take some pressure off Webb as the #1.
Surprised to see he is a Boras client.
Now this is fun.
Monmouth Hawks vs. Rider on ESPN News. 5 minutes left, Hawks up 4.
back and forth finish with Monmouth guard hitting 9 straight FTs to clinch it as they go to finals of MAAC.
Kind of interesting the 44 million for 2 years for Carlos Rondon can be connected to both Posey and Cueto who were both in line for 22 million.Posey’s retirement and Cueto’s obviously not picked up option created exactly 44 million for Rondon to fill out the starting 5..
that IS interesting. I hope that was just a coincidence though. The Giants have plenty of money to spend, let’s not see them start getting tight now
Coincidence or calculated symmetry, it’s a pretty good match for Rodon. A beautiful signing, no matter how it turns out.
Take a look at starting lineup from opener 2021 in Seattle. Slater led off and both he and Dickerson, who hit for him in 9th, homered. Giants hit 4 solo bombs that day. CF was Dubon, 2b was Barrels, battery was Gausman and Posey.
Posey and Longoria homered, and Gaus left in 7th with 6-1 lead.
Which in complete meltdown, Giants relievers Wisler (!) Garcia and Rogers blew, allowing 6 to M’s in one awful inning that started with 3 consecutive baserunners off Wisler (who retired no one) followed by walks (Garcia) FC and error on Belt, HB and 2 run double off Rogers. Dickerson homer tied game in 9th and then with extra runner on 2b, Alvarez walked 3 in a row and M’s won it without a hit.
Lot of those guys no longer around, for better or worse. Not sure if either Wade Jr. or GD were up then.
Wade Jr. played first game April 11(after 13th he was gone), but missed a month due to injury and didn’t return until May 13. Missed another 2 weeks before coming back May 28. June he hit 5 HRs, July he hit 7, then tailed off to 4 in August and only 1 in September. 12 of 18 HRs came at home, where his slugging pct was .549 vs. .410 on road.
