Dubs Troubs

Interesting take:

I don’t know enough about the plays that are getting called to know if this guy has a point.

Is Kerr….overrated?

My one beef with Kerr this year is when things start slipping out of hand in the 4th it does seem like he has solutions to stop it and then turn the tide strategically. But my biggest criticism is that mgmt did nothing to bolster this lineup to make it playoff competitive with more size. We saw the obvious weakness in the play in playoff games last year where they lose to the Fakers then Memphis. Memphis will kill us in the playoffs if we see them.

Should read: Does not seem Kerr has solutions…

Did the Flap see the Forbes mlb team net worth list?

    https://www.forbes.com/mlb-valuations/list/

Giants fifth most valuable franchise at $3.5 billion and low debt ratio of only 4%. Almost $1 billion for valuable then the next team in the Mets. Giants value has increased by 10% and operating income probably middle of the pack at $32 million but lot of teams had negative revenue and certainly higher debt. I am giving them a break in not spending more this year but inexcusable if the dollars don’t start flowing next year…

I think Kerr is lost trying to find combos that work together, without healthy Big 3 (Klay Steph Draymond). His others outside of Looney and couple other reserves are inconsistent or brand new to league. Lot of potential but often confused and ineffective on offense and unprepared to defend. Defense has been his mantra all season and it just hasn’t been there often enough.

Warriors did what they did in offseason to add more shooting, to match what teams like Utah and Phoenix have. This is way league is going, as many teams have added more shooters (especially from 3) to their rosters to bolster offense.
A few backup posts have continued to bounce around league but I don’t see how any of them would make a difference for GS nor add much to offense. Wiseman’s continued knee problems are obviously a concern.

Warriors biggest problem to me is the competition at top level in NBA has caught up to and passed them for depth of talent. Their stars have regressed and missed games, and while Poole has shown dramatic improvement the other recent draft choices were fails and the new ones still have much to learn. Gonna be interesting off season as soon as someone bounces them out of playoffs, which could be quite early.

    • Giant Head said, on March 29, 2022 at 8:19 am

We were at the game Sunday against the Wiz and Poole when they need a big shot from outside is inconsistent. If he had hit a couple of those late would have been a tighter game.

      • willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 9:01 am

mm thanks. He is wildly inconsistent and also makes poor decisions with ball sometimes, dribbling himself into traps. Different role for him he’s still figuring out. I’d start him in playoffs (with Green Steph Wiggins and Looney) and bring Klay off bench but doubt that happens.

      • Giant Head said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:08 pm

If Curry is fully back otherwise maybe bring Curry off the bench…

  6. djloo27 said, on March 29, 2022 at 8:03 am

Aside from not caring about defense in general, it seems to me that teams are afraid to defend the 3 because they don’t want the other team to shoot 3 free throws if they happen to foul. Not sure if that’s a good strategy, mathematically or late in games – especially with so many rotten FT shooters throwing up bombs…

  7. unca_chuck said, on March 29, 2022 at 9:49 am

Kerr is running into the Don Nelson problem. No bigs. The Dubs haven’t had a dominant center since the Big Chief days. As far as the offense goes, everybody runs the drive and dish now and everyone knows how to defend it very well. And the Warriors seem to be lazy in their passing game when things go south. It turns into one and done. And don’t get me started on Wiggins.

Throw in the obligatory 7-8 turrible turnovers by Steph/Dray a game, and you have a recipe for failure.

For whatever reason, the team totally fails at closing games now. Sure they are injured, but early in the season they were still winning despite the missing guys. Now they can’t finish to save their lives.

And sure, they should have tried to get a big man for the stretch run, but they thought Dray and Wiseman would be in and playing. They thought Klay would be better. They didn’t think Steph would go down.

LaStella has played 3B in 130 ML games, if that means anything…

    • willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 10:17 am

iirc Wilmet’s problems at 3b were on throws, not glove. LaStella and his 3 yr deal seems like rare big miss from Z so far. I liked him 2020 with Angels and then A’s, dunno reason his hitting dropped off so much.
Wade Jr. left game yesterday with knee soreness after doubling and then scoring on couple groundouts. Hope he’s OK

    More wonderful news:

    • Winder said, on March 29, 2022 at 11:50 am

Sure makes you appreciate Cal Ripken’s record. Baseball players seem to get dinged up just as much as football players

      • willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 1:15 pm

The Rev played all 162 in 2013 and 2014 for Giants. Btw 2008 and then he never played fewer than 154 in 7 years.

      • Winder said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:01 pm

Pence was solid for us and fun to watch.

  10. willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 2:34 pm

As for LDot, I’d remind him that as far as running plays from 6 years ago, Warriors were 30-10 before Klay ever played a game this season. So some of them must have been working.

  11. unca_chuck said, on March 29, 2022 at 3:04 pm

Draymond isn’t right. His play before his back injury was very very good. Now he sucks. Klay isn’t defending (or scoring) well either, and Iggy has been out, GP II has been out, Even Cole Porter has been out.

Their best defenders are either recovering from injuries or injured. We might as well rest the vets (15 minutes a game) and hope to get the squad healthy for the playoff run.

  12. willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 3:07 pm

wow happened to see Giants vs. Padres box score: 9-0 SF in 5th
LaStella with 3 run double in 2nd, Bart and Pederson with solo bombs in 3rd all off Mike Clevenger
    4 shutout innings from Rodon.

  13. Giant Head said, on March 29, 2022 at 3:15 pm

I see Longoria Wade and Belt all hurt and may miss opening day. So all we need now is Crawford to go down before June 1 for those who went with the under in my guess when both Brandons will be hurt.

  14. Giant Head said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:06 pm

But surprised to hear LaStella is back already. So if the other three go down no reason Ramos is not on the roster to start the season and Dubon and Estrada both make it as super utility guys. Is Vosler doing anything???

    • unca_chuck said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:13 pm

      Vossling

      • djloo27 said, on March 29, 2022 at 8:21 pm

        That’s what “Vozzy” does best…

  15. unca_chuck said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:14 pm

Is it a free agent clock thing for Ramos? Or did they change that?

  16. willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:38 pm

Used to be in playoffs of major sports, once most hated team (like say LA or Yanks) got eliminated I was cool watching even if Giants or locals weren’t in it. With college Final Four, yikes. Other than Nova I hoped they’d all lose.
Women’s bracket, it’s easy to ID most hated–Geno Auriemma and UConn without a doubt. Getting a freaking home game as #2 seed was complete BS.

    • Macdog said, on March 29, 2022 at 10:07 pm

That was a really good game last night, but yeah, NC State having to play a road game as a #1 seed was ridiculous.

  17. willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:52 pm

@GH: Wizards game GS lost (without Kuzma) was head scratcher. they kept leaving Kispert open and he kept draining in 3s and scored 25. KCP never missed a shot in 30 minutes–hit all 8 FGs (3-3 from 3) and 3-3 at foul line. Wiz scored 123, on 5 fewer shots and 17 fewer FTs. wtf?
Green was minus 20 P/M and admitted afterwards, “I’m playing terrible. I’ve never really been on a team that gets worse when I’m on the floor. That’s kind of where we are right now.”

    • willedav said, on March 29, 2022 at 5:54 pm

Really like Hachimura, another Zags guy. And as little guy myself, always dug Ish Smith even if he can’t shoot.

  18. Bozo said, on March 29, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Hard to believe, but except for last year, each year Longoria has been in SF he’s actually played more games and had more ABs than Posey did.
I get it, guys get hurt, but still, that was a lot of down time for two of our main middle of the order guys the last four years. Now Posey is gone, and Longo is battling a hand injury. Hmm, we’re left hoping that Joc Pederson isn’t Joc Pedestrian. Yeesh.

  19. paul sorensen said, on March 29, 2022 at 7:23 pm

Just curious, why is UConn “most hated”?

    • djloo27 said, on March 29, 2022 at 8:17 pm

Probably cause they win so much.
      Maybe they run up scores.
      Just guessing.
Steph might have passed Mahomes on the most commercials list…

Thumbs up to the Dodgers! Green has a herniated disc. If he was having leg pain causing calf weakness no way he is recovered. Craig, myself, and most of us have had or have lumbar pain. If you have nerve pain it is 10x worse. Your brain will protect you from pain. I haven’t watched but my brother tells me he has 3rd worse +/- in the league since returning, and has no quickness. Not good. Dubs finished without him at his best.
