He’s Always Hurt
Longo now officially shelved after finger surgery. This marks the 5th consecutive year he’ll do time on the injured list. This opens up a chance for Thairo to start some games at 3rd or even Vosler. How about Farhan’s new dumpster dive pick up Luke Williams? I think that’s his name.
Late NIght Lamonte going down probably (hopefully) secures a spot for the underrated Grave Duggar to make the opening day roster.
Not really going into 2022 with a full head of steam, are we?
Neither Wade nor GD started season with SF last year either. Both players (and team) did surprisingly well, no?
Rodon is rolling and Cobb threw 3 shutout innings as well in his first outing.
Along with Wilmet and LaStella there’s no shortage of bodies for 3B.
And with all the shifting, the third baseman spends a lot of time elsewhere.
Longoria’s injury sounds like something that could linger awhile – like all year.
It is kind of eerie how the Grave Duggar always finds a way…
thanks for box score. Giants played 8 guys that should make team and they went 9-22 with 4 doubles and 2 HRs. Rodon’s ERA is 0,84.
Padres lineup had couple of their top prospects, IF C J Abrams and C Campusano. Also Trayce Thompson, Klay’s brother who I think played for Dodgers before.
Pads M Gore (highly touted with middling results in minors so far) threw 4 innings for them too giving up Giants final 2 runs. Pads got Matt Beaty off LA in hopes of strengthening OF/1b.
Not too sure what to make of the plus/minus stat in basketball referenced by SportsDude on last thread.
Even as a hockey stat it’s meaning is questionable…
Agreed, easy to make too much of it in basketball.
Speaking of eerie whoever starts in LF it will be the 18th consecutive year with a new player there…
With Farhan at the helm I’d expect that streak to continue every year he’s here.
Bonds was the last repeat? Wow.
Quite a list too. Aoki Morse Fred yada yada
It does make you wonder since L-fielders should be the easiest position to find. I guess this is one area where the Giants cheapness comes into play.
Starting in 2007 with Bonds, opening day LFs afterwards as follows:
Dave Roberts
Fred Lewis
Mark deRosa
Pat Burrell
Aubrey Huff
Andres Torres
Michael Morse
Nori Aoki
Angel Pagan
Jarrett Parker
Hunter Pence
Connor Joe
Alex Dickerson
Austin Slater
So Austin Slayer has an outside chance to repeat.
Most of those names were good baseball players. We need a Jeff Leonard, Kevin Mitchell, I would even take a Candy Maldonado.
Outside of Joe and Jarrett that really isn’t a bad list
New guy Luke Williams hit a 2-run HR today.
Blandino at 1b homered too. SF up 6-0 in 3rd Krizan in LF. 2 shutout innings for DeSclafani. Williams at 3b, Gamboa at SS Estrada at 2b Dean DH.
Longo out 6 weeks per Kap.
The guy the Giants were to cheap to go after hard enough, and by the way a RH BAT And LH BAT
Seiya giving me a seizure Suzuki as he blast his 1st HR to left center a 2 run shot.
Seton Hall hired Shaheen Holloway, 6 yr deal. After that run with St. Peter’s should be able to attract Jersey/ NYC talent, and elsewhere.
Warriors best quarter in awhile, up 3 on suns end of 1. Glove in house, and his son Gary Payton Jr. (my fav Warrior) has 2 boards an assist a hoop and GS only steal, in 6 minutes. O turnovers too, while his teammates had 7.
Maybe this is already a well-known thing that I missed somewhere along the way, but watching the video of Luke Williams HR, it looks like he was swinging an aluminum bat. Is that possible? Is it a spring training thing? Or maybe a wooden bat heavily laminated or something?…. asking for a friend.
It sounded like wood to me, Paul. I know Louisville Slugger makes custom color bats and I’m thinking his has that red barrel and white handle because he was with the Phillies, but it did look weird.
Geez bonehead plays down the stretch for the Dubs in the loss.
Chris Paul making the plays forcing Green into a double dribble was huge. And Wtf was Poole doing shooting from mid court when he needed to get closer on a 3 as the Suns backed off of him an he looked foolish from mid court..
