Pollack for Kimbrel is an enormous win for LA. Farhan just still dicking around with Brebia Aisle bullshit. This isn’t the fucking A’s man, make a move!
I’m getting really irritated by the Dodgers and Rams!
From the Grapevine to the Mexican border all of Southern California can just fall into the Pacific Ocean after a massive magnitude 100 centered at Chavez Ravine and SOFI Stadium ends LA for good..
The one thing that I regret Farhan did not do this off-season was to sign Suzuki. Being able to plug him at 3b now and then shuffle him to the OF would have been a big big plus.
Whitesox’s didn’t need Kimbrel when they have Hendricks, but for a injury prone Pollack they could of done better. Sounds more like a salary dump of 2 huge contracts..
Freaking lose Jansen just pickup Kimbrel, Dodgers don’t dick around, they see a void and they fill it immediately..
I posted this at the end of the last thread. I thought maybe I should post it on this one. This is the video zoot was talking about. It shows how good some tv was in the early 60’s
good! Thanks. (I posted that vid and then vimeo blocked it. I must have a bad rep.) I stumbled across the rerun of that Rt 66 episode during lockdown and watched it in astonishment. But a bunch of African American musicians and actors got paid.
Fuck me. I could be wrong, but I don’t think the Hawk ever played the clarinet,
The man playing the trumpet player, Lover Brown, is Papa Jo Jones one of my top three favorite drummers ever. The man playing the drums in that scene is trumpeter Roy Eldridge. How nutty is it that they switched instruments to do the scene?
Thanks for posting this, what a great find.
Thanks for credits on musicians was trying to figure out how to find that.
Never ceases to amaze me to look at vids from 50s/60s overseas in Europe for guys like Art Blakey Cannonball Adderley Dexter Gordon et al where they are playing auditoriums instead of smoke filled clubs and patrons are all in suits and sitting quietly enjoying the music. Such a completely different scene where jazz men could be feted and celebrated for their art and skills as opposed to America.
Yeah Willie, I’ve gotta believe a lot of players loved going to Europe where they were treated like the music royalty that they were.
I still can’t get over Papa Jo doing that scene on trumpet, what a crack up. Not sure who the bass and banjo players were, or the bass and drummer from the club scene.
Wow, they just passed a bill to federally decriminalize non violent pot charges. I guess the country is moving forward slowly. Opens the doors for a lot of people that have been held down by prior convictions. that is a big deal.
And Biden/Clinton are hugely responsible for the quadrupling of the US prison population with three strikes, and mandatory minimum sentencing in the 90s.
Route 66 was before my time, but that was pretty cool. Love the two vaguely uncomfortable white guys listening to the music in the hotel room. All I can think of is Martin Milner in “One Adam-12, One Adam-12, robbery in progress at Vons Market on Studebaker” That show was my era.
idk, I can see Kimbrel being overpay. Prone to up/down seasons, like lot of pen guys. Dogs still over lux tax cap iirc..
might be pollyish, but I can be sanguine about injuries. Belt should be OK and Giants won ton of games last year without Longo. More ABs for Thairo and Wilmet might be good thing and ultimately payoff.
Pollock has been solid hitter for LA, with +.500 slugging and +.850 OPS in his 3 years there.
Slash line last year: .297/.355/.536 with 49 XBHs in 384 ABs.
Rather have him than Joc freaking Pederson.
Kimbrel had a weird season last year. He was very good for the Cubs; but after he was traded to the White Sox he was terrible the rest of the season. But maybe that’s hard to tell. A couple of really bad innings can balloon a relief pitcher’s ERA.
Save some of that boiling crab pot water for Tyler Rodgers.
3rd straight game he got lit up as his ERA sits at a robust 19.29 ..
Yeah it’s ST, and balls can fly out,are not sink much, but one clean inning would go along way before the opener..
gad Stanford women could not shoot last night ( 2-19 from 3 until final minute) and UConn pulled away in 4th of low scoring game that was only 39-37 after 3 quarters. so Geno gets South Carolina, much more quick and athletic team inside and out, who have POY in Aliyah Boston and guards that can create and shoot, unlike Stanford last night.
Also have to say Bueckers not very impressive. Only took 1 3 which she missed and had game high turnovers. UConn runs set plays for her to free her for midrange Js off high screen, which she can hit. What I didn’t see was ability to create off dribble, any one on one moves or a step back. Stanford also took her to hoop off dribble at other end and got her in foul trouble.
only time I follow women’s ball at all, now over.
Giants vs. Dodgers today on local sports channel. Belt to start, vs. Kershaw no less according to Baggs.
Also says OF Luis gonzalez hit really well and Brebbia has regained velo and looked good too.
be happy to let you know what GD is doing in Sac once rosters go back to 26 and Wade Jr comes back. He’s got a month to avoid being sent back down like last year. Daily updates, promise.
With Wade out and Yaz hobbled, I’d give the Grave Duggar a shot in the lead-off slot vs. RHP.
Maybe seeing better pitches would help cut down his K’s since he usually hits at the bottom of the order.
He’s actually got a pretty good eye and his speed is a proven weapon…
Flemming mentioned that Webb is pitching elsewhere today — so split squads for the Giants, maybe for the bums too. Joey’s blocking wildass curves in the dirt pretty well. But off the bat he had no idea where that high popup was headed. He then could not figure it out against the “high sky of AZ.” Out of play anyway, but still . . . . the Joey B popup watch begins.
Alex Cobb after a decent outing yesterday: ““I saw the shapes of all the pitches I was looking for.” I don’t know why, but I like that visual description.
Goodbye Coach K and I couldn’t be happier.NorthCarolina too strong at the end hitting clutch shots and making free throws while Duke choked there’s.Still a great battle with like 18 lead changes. Nice satisfied look by former Coach Roy Williams raising both arms in the air in victory..
Just another reason to hate the Dodgers. They just picked up Kimbrel but had to give up Pollock.
They also said that Boyd is gonna start throwing off a mound and should be ready by mid-season.

This year is gonna be a big wake up call for A and Kap. They are riding high on hubris. They gonna eat shit this season.
Injuries are always the great unknown.
Not off to a good start there either.
Wonder if Bauer pitches this year…
The one thing that I regret Farhan did not do this off-season was to sign Suzuki. Being able to plug him at 3b now and then shuffle him to the OF would have been a big big plus.
Flodgers likely move Bauer and get another crucial piece for their rotation…

They must have figured out that I did that i just came back on and it’s gone.
yeah fabulous. Watched it last night on phone, will watch again.

Biden and the Dems slow to get on the cannabis train. That should have been done 30 years ago at least.
And Biden/Clinton are hugely responsible for the quadrupling of the US prison population with three strikes, and mandatory minimum sentencing in the 90s.

I had a couple of friends that got caught up in those 3 strikes. They were 3rd striking people for shoplifting.
Yep. just like getting 3 to 5 for a joint in Mississippi.

Not sure if I’m ready for another season of Mr. Rogers.
Looks like we won’t have to face deGrom in 2022.
Not expected back till after Decoration Day…

Let me know when they’re playing beach volleyball…

Are some bikini mud wrestling with John Candy …

Loo, now that there’s the DH, maybe Kap will bat GD 9th. Here’s the 9th-place hitters in the stating lineup from last year’s 10 DH games:
Dubon – 3
Tauchman – 3
Casali – 2
Yaz – 1
LaStella – 1
Thanks, Mac – forgot about that.
Much more likely ninth than lead off for GD…
Yeah, Stanford’s 3-point shooting was brutal to see, too many rushed shots that weren’t good looks at all.
As Baggs pointed out, Belt is career 4-67 with 30 Ks. vs. Kershaw.
Oh man. Ownage uh be ownage as Belt goes down on 3 pitches.
Good news is Giants won’t see Dogs til May.
Yaz led off and snagged fly in Rf to end first. Dogs going mostly scrubs–no Betts Bellinger Muncy Freeman Taylor or either of Turners.

back to back jacks off Kimbrel — second by Auerbach, the baserunning speedster who can play both IF and catcher
Love that swing! The base hit in 89 Cubs series is seared in to my memory forever:) Fun to see the old names from 2011 too!

I’m with you Kat.
I can’t stomach that fucker.
And like the scumbag he is, he shit all over the kid who missed the free throws…
