A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Sports Overload

Honestly, with the Masters and all the Derby preps from yesterday, I didn’t see or hear much of the game. The box score looks underwhelming.

Taiba was the most impressive winner to me yesterday. Coming off a single 6F race to pass the Great Messier like that in the stretch? I almost couldn’t believe what I was watching. One thing is clear: this is a STRONG cast of 3 year olds heading to the Derby.

I’ve got Cam Smith at 15-1 to win it all so let’s have a little sweat this afternoon and hope he can some how catch Sheffy.

I have Cam Smith in a pool and this may get interesting. Has there ever been a golfer who plays as still as him???

Ramos is getting called up for today hopefully he sticks.

I think our pitching is gonna have to be consistent because I can see a lot of games like yesterdays in our future. It is still early and most pitchers are pretty fresh due to limited ST so it may take batters some time to catch up. Good luck on your golf bets.

Well Flav, you can catch GD highlight driving in Giants only run on MLB site under Rodon electric heading.
OK so Slush has story on Ramos that Mac posted from Pavs twitter last night—so who got sent out? Slush didn’t post anyone’s name but that it might be a pitcher, like Long. Giants have day off Thursday after Pads come in for 3, then play 13 games in a row on road.

SA Derby was supposed to be battle btw even money horses Messier with John Velasquez aboard vs. Forbidden Kingdom and Juan Hernandez, and latter finished out of the money altogether as longshot Happy Jack ridden by Abel Cedillo got 3rd. Wondered about mounts and Ws for Flavien Prat going up against guys like Saez Gaffalione Ortiz brothers Lanerie etc., but he had great day yesterday in stakes races at Keeneland.

Britney Eurton was dressed to kill yesterday back at SA and national coverage barely used her at all except for brief interview with winning trainer Tim Yakteen. TVG would have done better job.

Prat gave the best ride of the day aboard Zandon in the Blue Grass. East coast is gonna find out really quick he’s the best jockey in America.

I’d like Cam Smith as well he’s a bulldog and cut it to 3 as Sheff was leaking oil down the stretch, though give him credit after a unplayable ball on 18 he lasers a 4 iron from 240 to just off the back of the green( yeah these guys are good) but Smith really plays well at Augusta 4 straight rounds in the 60’s in 2020 , no golfer has ever done that before I think he pulls it off today..

If Ramos is being called up, get him in pronto along with Williams at 3rd, stack all RH hitters against the lefty today! Giants are way too LH dominant team with some guys only able to play 1 position.(Craw&Belt)Duggar,Joc,Yaz, Wade,LaStella when there back, gives some versatility I guess in OF positions are Wade and LaStella on infield .You sure don’t need Vosler another lefty right now, go with the force Luke playing some 3rd over Mr.Ed who’s dealing with some off field issues and it’s clearly affecting him in the field( though I would say he’s always been a below average fielder anyway and on pace for 162 errors)

2 games into the season, why didn’t Ramos just start the season with the big club?
Giants probably figured out they want to use Ruf strictly as DH/1B while only having Slater a decent RH hitter for the outfield, with not much to offer Dubon.
Yeah sending Sam Long down with option makes the most sense. They have to wait and see if Beede blows up first before they have to cut ties. They could also put Flores on some personal leave for 10 days I guess to deal with family issues?

Brebbia placed on the bereavement list to make room for Heliot Ramos.

    • willedav said, on April 10, 2022 at 10:14 am

ah thanks Mac. Anyone can still be on 10 day (as opposed to 15 day) IL right now, and no options count against 5 limit for guys going up/down til May 2 as well.

Why do so many make the mistake on #12 at Augusta trying to hit the perfect shot instead of just making sure to clear the water and to my compound their mistake by taking the drop so far back instead of simply keeping it close to the water and making a simple chip??? Ask Jordan Spieth about that strategy.

  10. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 10:14 am

Brebbia?? What didn’t see that one coming.
I know he shaved his beard off, is he bereaving that hair loss?

  11. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 11:23 am

LU…RH heavy against Lefty Taylor Rodgers ,Tyler’s brother
    RF Slater
    1B Ruf
    SS Crawford
    DH Flores
    2B Estrada
    LF Ramos
    3B Williams
    CF Dubon
    C Casali
    Disco P on the bump

  12. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 11:27 am

    Oops Dubon hitting 7th
    Williams hitting 8th

  13. willedav said, on April 10, 2022 at 11:53 am

Hope Ramos gets some ABs before cutdown of roster. Padres will only start LHP on Wed., and only have 2 lefties in pen though one is closer T Rogers.

  14. Macdog said, on April 10, 2022 at 12:07 pm

Yay, Woods is done, now we won’t see every shot from someone who’s 50 shots off the lead.

  15. Giant Head said, on April 10, 2022 at 12:34 pm

That Scheffler chip on 3 is unbelievable. Could have gone even up if Scheffler bogeys now could go to a three stroke lead again.

  16. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 1:47 pm

How about that Ramos 1st big league hit Dubon rips a tying double and Williams follows with his first Giants hit knocking in Dubon!

Nice rbi sac fly from wilmet there. Kuiper little over enthusiastic lately but wilmet gets job done.

  18. Macdog said, on April 10, 2022 at 2:25 pm

    Why is DeSclafani still in?

  19. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 2:33 pm

Nice 1 pitch out by Garcia with the sacks loaded to bail out Disco who was struggling all game giving up 8 hits but somehow only 2 runs..

  20. Macdog said, on April 10, 2022 at 2:34 pm

Scheffler looking good now after Smith’s triple bogey on 12.

  21. willedav said, on April 10, 2022 at 2:38 pm

line drive base hit by Ramos, and 2 pop flies later he’s still stuck there. And another one and inning is over.

  22. alleykat69 said, on April 10, 2022 at 3:12 pm

Yeah Scheffler just needs to be fitted for his green jacket 4 up 4 to play!
But wow they’re sure was excitement when both Rory and Colin both holed out bunker shots to end their rounds!
Rory an amazing 64 to end up at 7 under for 2nd place.Colin ended up at 4 under..

Giants win, Dodgers lose. That’s called a great day of baseball.

  24. djloo27 said, on April 10, 2022 at 3:52 pm

    Spaghettio closes it out!
    We have 5 closers.
    What’s the damn difference?
    Play Ramos every day!

  25. Macdog said, on April 10, 2022 at 3:53 pm

Dominant Dominic closes it out. Series win!

  26. willedav said, on April 10, 2022 at 3:53 pm

Leone closes the door, Giants win 3-2 despite getting outhit 11-6.
Ty Blach (!) finishes game with 4 shutout innings one one hit as Rox hold off LA 9-4 to take 2 of 3.
Rox pounded Urias for 6 hits 2 BBs 6 runs/3 earned in 2 innings. Added couple more unearned runs and another HR later. Gotta love it.

    That was a nice win.

T-Bone didn’t quite live up to his starting music today, but he was good. Williams smoothly started a DP and logged an RBI with a hit. Doobie did his best to remain here. And Heliot showed that he’s ready to play here and that he will only get better the more he does play here. Jarlin and Dominic deserve their accolades. G’s series win made it fun to watch Jazz for a couple of games, too.

    • willedav said, on April 10, 2022 at 6:14 pm

Jazz is something. Rocket double that one hopped the RF wall and fantastic leaping full extension grab of Slater line drive.
