A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

I agree with that dude. There is nothing in that horse’s past performances to indicate he could do anything like he did on Saturday. He should have been 300-1. And yet there he was, weaving through horses in the stretch like he had a motor on his ass. For the sake of the industry I hope that horse doesn’t test dirty.

Lots of people talking about how great this is for the sport and the little guy and there is certainly some truth to that. But a horse winning for no reason like that happens every so often at some shitty midwestern track in a claiming race on a Wednesday afternoon. It doesn’t happen on racing’s biggest stage. They did run the last quarter pretty slow so it could just be a case of all the other horses not firing and/or some who were burnt up by that incredibly fast first quarter and half. So, visually, his run looked better than it was.

While I’ve been trying to make sense of that senseless act the Giants broke a nice little 2 game win streak at the expense of Daniel’s Cardinals…

If you caught my immediate comment post Race I was a bit suspicious. When would test results come out from Sat’s race? Rewatching the race after commenting, that horse after the jock saw the gap and moved him, that horse had his stare on the two front runners and maybe he is just a crazy demon inside and just knew his job was to catch those two and pass them.

It was incredible to rewatch in slow motion how his head is turned as he closes the gap and as passes them he keeps his head turned to the crowd for a moment as he approached the finish line. I hope he is not juiced and that we all just witnessed one of those magical racing moments.

And coming back to split the series sign of the Giants competitiveness and let’s hope losing the previous 6 of 7 had more to do with covid fluid roster than their heart. This Angel player Jo Adell got sent to AAA, dumpster dive moment?

  3. Winder said, on May 9, 2022 at 8:37 am

I hope the horse is clean also, it would make the whole sport more fun. Winning big is fun. Losing your money not so much. I was lucky enough to get to know two lifetime gamblers when I lived in Reno and it really does take a special person to do it as a living. And make it work.

Junis part of rotation per Kap. Solid except for Yepez bomb. That guy hurt them.

  5. willedav said, on May 9, 2022 at 12:00 pm

Rodon with extra day of rest goes tonight followed by Wood and Cobb.
Facing the LHP Gomber, so see what lineup looks like. Giants hammered Matz on Saturday, in late afternoon.

Looks like Kapler is going almost 6 man rotation now even though he has his stance on his set 5 but with starters injured, fatigued etc.I’m fine with that, are an extra day between starts, it’s along grind and a shortened ST plays into this as well imo.Junis I have pushing for starts as he should be, he’s been excellent 15 innings 2 runs 1.20 era a great Z pickup again!

I say fuck all the prima donnas of the horsing world, the asshole owners, trainers they’re stuck up bitches with they’re $10,000 dresses and they’re $1000 hats 👒!! Shit Strike it Rich was an alternate only getting in the field on Friday late after another horse scratched is another dream come true that the stars were lining up right.(This win was for the recreational betters to the max) 80/1 you say fuck it I’ll drop a $100 on him and it paid out 8,027 Yozzer!

Strike it Rich ran an incredible race, when he looked boxed in on the rail next to a fading Messier, the jock saw a slight opening steered his head right and hit the hole perfectly. And when he pulled even with the favorites and stared at them was even more bitchin , like he was taunting them and saying :That’s all you got left? The only real disappointment was the freaking announcer on the call, who was totally juked out by what Strike it Rich was doing until the last possible second only fixated on the favorites Zadon&Epicenter.

I disagree. Colmus was late on calling him but in some ways it made it a better call. Like out of the blue the longest shot on the board appeared. Wilco Joe on Twitter called it one of the top 5 race calls of all time and while wouldn’t go that for it was really good. Nobody calls the last 10 seconds a race like Larry Colmus he’s the best in the biz

As in the 2013 BC Classic, when he had the balls to call Mucho Macho Man’s nose victory over Will Take Charge…

      • Flavor said, on May 9, 2022 at 3:57 pm

how bout the 2016 distaff? He gets his words a little jumbled at the end of the race but this was a fantastic call and I don’t know how the hell he called this for Beholder so fast.

Based on the weather today, it’s gonna be a wild one tonight. Windy and cold. Two of my kids are going, but they are behind home plate so it should be OK for them. Allison will be rocking my 90s vintage GIANTS sweatshirt.

Mitchell, Kent, Pagan, and Mr. Ed off the top of my head.
        Any others?

      • willedav said, on May 9, 2022 at 4:22 pm

Better than Benitez. Still can’t believe Sabes wanted him after JT Snow bomb.

      • alleykat69 said, on May 9, 2022 at 5:35 pm

Not too long ago actually the Giants had a trio do it in in a blowout scoring 24 runs I believe? game against the Rockies In Colorado setting a MLB record.
        Dickerson,Crawford&Solano all had 6 RBI’s and The Dick&Crawford had 3 each..

Speaking of kids, Allison and Garrett are on their way to Oracle. Can’t see it, but G has my 1990s Warriors Thunder hat on. Classic shit . Al is rocking a Timmy jersey and the 1990 sweatshirt that is older than all of them.

    Al n G

Speaking of Allison, where’s Sandawg? Haven’t heard a peep lately.

Derby quarters. See? Rich Strike gave off the illusion that he was storming home like a locomotive. Truth is that he got a great ride and was passing tiring horses

Ragin Rodon 6 strong innings with 12 K’s!
Pitch count will do him in now at 110 but those 3 padded runs should help his chances for a W..Up to the BP now, fingers crossed 🤞

And Brown isn’t inspiring anything for the Dubs.

A win is a win, but that was likely the worst current regime Warrior win I have ever seen. Sure glad Grizz finally missed a few at the end because no way anyone on our team was going to make a shot!
