A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Two-Zip Feels like 4-0

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 21, 2022

That was their chance, right? Up 14 at half, banging in their 3s….and they still lost by 9. I guess they might get one in their house but as I said before the series started, Dubs in 5…..

It is Preakness Day. Talk to you guys later….

wouldn’t have thought Pads capable of victimizing Doval like that. Casali apparently had trouble with vision, not good on many levels.

  2. unca_chuck said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:05 am

Internet crashed (and thus streameast) right before the Giants came back in the 9th. What happened to Casali?

They bringing Pereda up? None of our AAA catchers are on the 40 man.

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:24 am

      foul ball right off mask.

      • willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:26 am

and Bark with 2 more Ks in 2 ABs.

This Mavs team can’t stop us offensively and would say our offense has not even been in top shape these first two games. Only way to stop us offensively os to slow us down and can only do that but being very physical. Memphis with Morant healthy in a full series will be very tough next season and the Celtics have that type of physicality for a potential awesome finals matchup. But these Mavs can’t do anything to stop us on the inside and their interior players are actually sub-average.

  4. Giant Head said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:16 am

Charles Barkley take on this series is so laughable to think the Mavs can win more than one game.

His entire schtick now is to just hate everything golden state/SF. He’s a joke

  5. Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 12:04 pm

Casali on concussion IL, new catcher today:

    3B La Stella
    DH Belt
    1B Ruf
    LF Pederson
    CF Yastrzemski
    2B Estrada
    SS Crawford
    RF Gonzalez
    C Papierski

    LHP Rodon

    • djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 12:45 pm

I predict a hit from each side of the plate in a memorable debut for Papierski…

      • willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 12:49 pm

loud foul would be an improvement over Bark.
Great line last night , “blackburn lancashire.”

      • Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:01 pm

It would help if he swung the bat.

      • djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:05 pm

Maybe he’s just using some innovative new approach that we don’t know about, Mac…

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 12:46 pm

yeah 7 day IL according to J Shea. Giants DFA’d Luke Williams to get this guy on 40 man.
Belt right knee bothering him, replaced by Wilmet according to Shea twitter just now.

  6. djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 1:09 pm

Papierski calling a solid game so far…

  7. Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 1:35 pm

A pickoff-caught stealing! Too many easy steals for the Pads last night.

  8. djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:27 pm

Joe Panik was not a “great” Giant.
He made a great play at a very important moment…

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on May 21, 2022 at 7:22 pm

Agree, really just a *good* giant for one year, as he definitely contributed to that championship. Which was too bad, because it seemed Giants had their 2nd baseman of the future. Oops.

  9. djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:38 pm

    Revised prediction:
Papierski will never get a major league hit.
He may not even hit a fair ball…

    • Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:44 pm

At least he went down swinging this time.

  10. willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:47 pm

wow nice play all around. Grisham gets rbi on successful bunt, Estrada nice play to get him out.

    • Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:50 pm

Pierzynski on FS1 called the bunt before the AB.

  11. Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 2:47 pm

Two-Zip this game feels more than 4-0.

  12. willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 3:12 pm

Kap, on Bark as quoted by Shea: “Fully acknowledging right now we need to help him not swing and miss so much, which is a huge challenge.”

  13. djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 3:26 pm

Longoria now 3 for 27 since his welcome back double…

  14. Macdog said, on May 21, 2022 at 3:28 pm

They should’ve kept Dubon and cut Longo.

    • djloo27 said, on May 21, 2022 at 3:51 pm

      Couldn’t agree more…

    • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on May 21, 2022 at 7:23 pm

    Tough loss.

  19. unca_chuck said, on May 21, 2022 at 4:47 pm

Barkley telling the crowd he was gonna “fuck your mama” was pretty funny tho.

  20. zumiee said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:44 pm

Watching the Celtics/Heat game I’m reminded of the John Madden quote: “I don’t know if I’m watching good defense or bad offense.”
I’m inclined to think the Warriors are going to win the championship.

  21. zumiee said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:47 pm

The River Cats game is on a local channel. They’re losing 6-1, though.

    • willedav said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:57 pm

Watching that. 3b Villar is leading hitter. Ramos is under Mendoza line. Steve Sax is one of announcers. Billy Hamilton plays for Tacoma.

  22. zumiee said, on May 21, 2022 at 8:48 pm

The Giants game was set up today for Longo to be the hero, but he rolled a grounder to third base with the bases loaded.

  23. willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 7:18 am

Musgrove was tough. though Giants didn’t have best lineup out there.
SF is now 7-12 vs. teams over .500, 15-5 vs. rest.
After SD on Sunday Mets come in for 3.
Next 13 games after that all vs. teams under .500. 10 game Road trip to Cincy Phiilly Miami 3 at home vs. Rox before LA comes in.

  24. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 8:43 am

If Dallas gets one, it’ll be tonight. This’ll be their best chance.

    • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 8:51 am

Impressed by Heat last night. Now both teams in that series have road W. What’s up with Wiggins–heard he has been listed as “questionable”?

  25. alleykat69 said, on May 22, 2022 at 11:38 am

Celtics Jaylen Brown’s in the loss dropped in 40 points and were all from 2 point range becoming the 1st player to do that in playoffs modern clock era.Impressive when it’s a league of just launching 3’s all night. What wasn’t impressive was his 7 turnovers.

  26. willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 12:03 pm

Kat, Brown had 14 hoops, 3-9 from 3. Cal guy for a year recruited by Cuonzo Martin.

    • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 12:06 pm

Think he hit almost all his 2s plus 9-12 FTs. Cool player.

  27. willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 1:16 pm

Wouldn’t it be worth a few wins a year for Giants to trade for Myers? He loves hitting here anyway.

    • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 1:22 pm

Making $22 mil in last year of contract. Get Pads to cover half and give them Little or Marte and let him help them instead of burning them all the time.

  28. Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:09 pm

Wow, Phillies beat Dodgers in 10, Muncy at 2B booted grounder with 2 out, runners scored from 2nd and 3rd.

  29. Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:12 pm

And I’m close to turning off Gisnts game, they look overmatched vs. Pads.

  30. Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:14 pm

    Click.

  31. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:16 pm

Not only are we getting swept, we’ve had the lead for 0 innings. Sad.

    • Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:22 pm

I think they briefly led 1-0 on Friday. But yeah, it’s been all Pads.

  32. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:19 pm

We look like a little league team

  33. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:20 pm

    Give ‘em 6 outs . . .

  34. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:44 pm

Wiggins tweaked his ankle in game 2 but Kerr said he’ll play.

  35. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 2:46 pm

I think the Giants are this year what we thought they were gonna be last year.

  36. willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 3:06 pm

    Garden sounds fired up.
giants fans haven’t had much to cheer about today. Usual suspects Machado and Myers with 6 hits btw them.

  37. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 3:06 pm

    Weeeeeeeeeeee!

  38. snarkk said, on May 22, 2022 at 3:07 pm

    Brutal game.
    Pads just scoring at will.
Look like something outta the 2004-2007 Dark Ages, sans Bonds…
Belt back to the familiar IL.
If you have to have your knee drained, that’s no bueno.
IMO, that bodes for surgery down the road…

  39. Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 4:05 pm

Giants outscored 25-7 the last two Sundays.

  40. Macdog said, on May 22, 2022 at 4:11 pm

I see Gonzalez threw 2 shutout innings, their best pitcher by far today.

    • xoot said, on May 22, 2022 at 6:43 pm

disarming defense of disdain for the unwritten rules — we’re not going to let the damage to our pen continue.

I think Profar tried to spike Flores on the close play at first that left the thin-skinned LFer limping off the field with a twisted ankle of his own. Dumbfuck. Deserves to get another harmless empty aluminum beer bottle tossed his way.

      • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Throwing anything from stands at a player on field, including beer bottle is never excusable.

      • xoot said, on May 22, 2022 at 8:08 pm

        it wasn’t thrown at him

      • xoot said, on May 22, 2022 at 8:15 pm

there’s a difference between the classic heavy “beer bottle” and the featherweight aluminum cans they sell at the park these days — and he was never in danger from that original missile. My question is whether Profar deliberately tried to spike Flores on the close play that led to Profar’s limping off the field. Looked like it to me. Wilmer left far more than half the base clear. If so, Profar deserves more than a twisted ankle. Suspend him. That’d be fine.

      • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 10:03 pm

I didn’t get that at all on play at 1b. It was very close and Profar was running hard. Looked like his ankle rolled. No intentional contact what I saw.

      • willedav said, on May 22, 2022 at 10:07 pm

Baseballs were thrown in field too. Unlikely done by Pads fans. Unacceptable under any circumstances. As has been noted by Giants own beat writers.

      • xoot said, on May 22, 2022 at 10:16 pm

The play was shown over and over because it was so close. Each time, I saw the cleat on Profar’s shoe clip the back, the lower heel, of Flores’s shoe, although there was plenty of room on the base for a clean landing. Maybe he didn’t try to harm Wilmer. Maybe he was just clumsy.

Throwing things harmlessly onto the field is littering — beach balls, for example. If security can ID the hurlers, kick em out, I guess. I’d love to know what Profar said to the fans to piss them off so much. The beat writers have more franchise-friendly axes to grind, however.

The great Roger Angell died the other day. Now there was a baseball writer who never followed anybody else’s line.

  41. unca_chuck said, on May 22, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Thankfully missed most of the baseball inaction jackson this weekend. What Iittle I saw today was laughable. something like 4 errors? And the usual not hitting with men on base blues.

Another strong game by the Dubs on the glass. Wiggins is a revelation in these playoffs.

  42. djloo27 said, on May 22, 2022 at 10:02 pm

If you or anyone you know is planning a visit to NYC, my advice is cancel it…
