Pham Don’t Play That
Honestly, nobody in sports has a more slappable face than Joc except maybe Patrick Reed. But Pham, man, that dude has to chill. As I suspected it wasn’t simply a dispute over a fantasy football waiver wire claim. But still, this was nothing more than Pham not liking a marginally funny gif Joc sent out to a group chat. Who knows, maybe he was just looking for a reason to slap the second most slappable face in sports…..
Saw the interview with Joc. He may be one of the oddest looking guys I have ever seen!
Us loosing so much is getting old! Go Giants!
Pads also lost to bottom feeder, as Ke’Bryan Hayes hit 3 run bomb off ML saves leader (!) Taylor Rogers as Pirates won 4-2 at Petco. Rogers second blown save in 19 chances.
There is glimmer of hope b-ball players stay in college an extra year or so with NIL money coming their way. But yes agree with James Worthy too many players leaving way too early has dumbed down the game at NBA level.
Watched some travel team HS seniors yesterday and same game has trickled down there. Less selfishness but it’s all no look passes and 3s, and irksome go and then give pass chucked back out from inside while in the air to someone standing 25 ft away. How is that a better shot? And most of them don’t have a finish shot in lane either except for floater prayer. No one has taught them a jump stop midrange, let alone a V cut or back door to get open?
All this Joc vs. Pham nonsense conveniently takes away from main story—Giants have now dropped 2 in a row to the woeful 16-30 Reds, scoring 3 runs in 2 games at one of premier hitter friendly yards in all baseball. Against a team that came into yesterday with ERA of 5.58 (next worse in NL being Nats at 4.98) and who had allowed NL high 59 bombs. SF has one in 2 games, from Longoria, while they hit ball on ground continuously.
Actions speak louder than words. The Giants are so inconsistent in their play it’s obvious we have problems. Hitting, defense, and pitching have all been suspect, I don’t see how we can turn this around with any simple fixes. After last year I thought our game would be better.
Good morning Flappers! Giants pick up where they left off and go down in order, with 2 Ks, in top 1st to start this early game.
Oh Patrick Reed very punchable face.
Re Kapler and what some have deemed his “controversial” stance on the anthem. Someone should have taken my argument from the Kaepernick era and stop playing the anthem every bloody game. Ergo no pressure in Kapler to feel like he needs to make a statement and also kind of leave his team hanging. Let the anthem be played big moments all-start game and first game of playoff series at each ballpark/bball court and nfl playoff games. Let’s put some meaning back into the Anthem.
At least I get Peacock to watch the Giants do nothing first two innings.
That was a horrendous strike call on Longoria with full count. And then Crawford swings through a 3-0 fastball but then instead of forcing him to throw another at 3-1 swings at the splitter.
Giants get a runner on 2nd, that’s one way to keep Reds’ no-hitter intact.
A hit!
Crazy how Reds are shutting us down. GRRR
Big call here
Wow. Fleming is saying he was safe…
YES!!!! Longo. Lucky he didn’t walk:)
Finally, a big hit!
And another one!
Wow. Maybe we can beat the Reds?
Looks like you and I are the only ones paying attention Mac!
Ha, looks like Ghead too.
They have awakened. Just watched the replay of Bart being sent home last night ridiculous. What is even more ridiculous is any mlb player actually inviting Joc Pederson into their fantasy league. They get what they deserve!!!
Leadoff walk, must.be Mr. Rogers.
Thinking about pinch runners. In the not tooo distant past teams would use a fast pitcher in those situations…Not a 6’2″ 238 lb catcher
Go Giants!
Yay, sweep avoided.
What happened in ball Yaz and Gonzalez could not corral ? Yaz got an error but was he only one at fault? Flemming didn’t think so on radio feed.
Yaz is definitely the main culprit, Gonzalez did pull up while backing up before ball got by Yaz, so he might’ve prevented it, but this is on Yaz.
Thanks Mac. Noticed Dubon playing CF for Astros today, batting .226. Do Giants have any top flight defensive OFs?
https://www.mlb.com/video/john-brebbia-in-play-no-out-to-kyle-farmer-roszw7
mm if Gonzalez is backing up play, ball should not have gotten by him to the wall. Yaz misplayed it, but didn’t get any help from his RF.
Gotta love Kapspeak: “Today he showed you he’s still an excellent overall athlete.” Said of….Evan Longoria.
Looking at B/R numbers, Giants still 2nd NL for runs per game, though first 2 and half games vs. Reds sucked.
Pitching still stuck at 11th NL for ERA though they are league best for fewest bombs and BBs allowed; hope they can keep that up in Philly. Btw, was the HR allowed by Doval just a Cincy special or location mistake?
Irad Ortiz Jr and Flavien Prat back riding at Santa Anita today. Couple expensive stakes races # 4 and #5, $400 and $500 K. Nice interview yesterday with Mike Smith by stunning Ms. Britney Eurton.
Read ESPN story on Girardi and Phils. Like SF they’ve lost 7 of last 10 (and 10 of 14) and sit 21-27 despite payroll of $233 mil. Harper Realmuto Wheeler Castellanos and Schwarber all added last few seasons. hmmnn
I think we’ve learned why Pham has bounced around to a few teams.
But he’s a “big dog in Vegas.” What a delusional weirdo.
I miss the old Webb. From last season.
Was last season a complete fluke?
Starting to look that way.
They were insane 32-6 vs. AZ & COL in 2021.
But nothing wrong with 75-49 vs everyone else.
I can’t explain it…
Wade Jr and Belt were awesome last year. Gausman was tremendous for first 2-3 months. Other than Joc no one stands out so far and pitching way off 2021.
So much went right last season, including real strong comeback seasons from Craw, Posey, and Belt. The team is pretty meh so far this season.
Crawford and Ruf still struggling too.
Wilmet!
Yes!
Irad Ortiz Jr killing it. 3 winners including longshot in $400k stakes race.
The golden sombrero and the knock for Longo
Longo.
An excellent overall athlete
Be nice to get this for Webbie. Nice game.
Damn.
That will be second fuessed
Guessed
It should be…
Doval can’t go per TV. Wonder why?
I have no problem with Webb starting the 9th, there isn’t anyone in the bullpen that can be trusted
Walton fuckin sucks…
Caseeeyaaaa!
Ha Casali makes him pay for hanging one.
That’s, Mr. Casali to you. Eeehaw.
Casali makes up for the bum who struck out.
Guess Doval hasn’t thrown enough layely
No sliders plz
All he threw except for the high hard one to Hoskins.
finished them off with 7 in a row.
Ballgame!!!
Nice. Still hate that runner on 2nd bull though.
Put it in the books, that’s a win.
Victory!
That’s why you need 2 ins in the 10th.
Ground out and sac fly is such an easy way to score
Last slider there at back foot was perfect. Interesting column by Eno Sarris in Athletic on predominance of sliders vs. fastballs in today’s game. Giants btw are one of teams that have their minor league pitchers use sliders more often too.
One of things brought up was, if your slider is mid 80s, pretty hard to hit it. Doval’s is 84-86 I think, with fastball at 99. Lot of guys use different types too–one with less break early in count to steal a strike, another one more like Romo frisbee with more of sweeper break down and away. Flores and Lindor were quoted in column too, about how there’s no such thing as “fastball count” any more and if you are looking for high velo one and get the slider, how tough it is to hit one solidly.
Loo, good luck to your boys tonight. Been a fun series, and those games at Garden just electric. Goalie has been tremendous.
Win enough to get a wild card playoff spot, and that’s just fine.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m already completely used to the Cleveland team being called the Guardians.
Jon Miller told the story of his father dying as a soldier in the Korean War, when Miller was very young. I don’t remember hearing that story before.
Miller talked about his father being an air force navigator in Korea, flying 20 “sorties.” I was busy at that moment, but I thought he said B 16, which made no sense to me. F 16 might, maybe. I don’t know. But I don’t remember him saying that his father died in Korea. As I say, I was busy.
My Lexington lawyer cousin went to the Berea KY cemetery today to plant small flags in front of gravestones commemorating three family members, including my father, who saw combat in WW II. My father was 18 when he landed in Europe. He was a soldier. As was his older brother, who died at the Battle of the Bulge, age 22. My father always found ways to avoid talking about his war experience. Another of his older brothers returned, after nearly a year of combat in North Africa, with horrible, life-destroying PTSD.
Kap put his National anthem protest on hold for Mem Day weekend. Lol, did he not look at a calendar before he announced this to the press? Kap’s an idiot, I’m sorry. A look at me idiot. Just STFU and do your protest, don’t botch it like this and waste everyone’s time
