A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One. More. Win.

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 14, 2022

“Hey Big Flavor, you excited to watch Game 5 later tonight?”

“Hell yes. Who are you?”

“I am from the future. And I’m here to tell you that tonight Steph, Green, Porter and Wiggins will go a combined 0-19 from downtown. Still wanna watch?”

“Yikes. Thank you Man From Future, you just saved me a few hours of misery….”

This is why we love sports. You just never know what is going to happen.

One thing that was painfuly clear was that Brown and Tatum, who got no rest in the second half till they were yanked for scrubs, were totally gassed. Tatum was missing everything short and both came up ant-small in the biggest game of their lives.

Two hilarious moments amid all the drama: Tatum refusing to give Green the ball into a time out and Wiggins with a thunderous dunk that landed right on White’s dumb ‘ol head.

Oh, and the Giants won again, too.

Listening to Bill Simmons on the drive in and he was again at the game and he what remarkable shape the Celtics are in and I say wtf???? Looked to me they were totally gassed as well and it is the F’n Dubs and especially Wiggins that are in unbelievable condition.

    Very clever, Flavor.
    You seem rejuvenated…

i can ramp up after games like that. But make no mistake I’m on fumes. Still plan on making it through the baseball season then I’m shutting her down. I have decided to keep the website up tho like some sort on online museum. And who knows, down the road, I might fire her back up–that’ll keep people coming back to check, lol

Wiggins just got himself a max deal not super max but I can’t see how we hold on to him after they give him the max deal. Think there will be teams willing to trade for him after next season. Klay and Dray both signed for the year after (Dray has a player option at $27 mill that he certainly will invoke) plus Looney will be free agent this year Poole signed for next year only and GPII probably restricted free agent. They all got to get paid and Looney especially deserves to be paid. Give him 5 years lower dollars at start and more later as a deserved thank you. Probably will need to over pay for Poole and GPII to keep them in the fold probably with the extra years and give them some future financial security.

that’s fine. Honestly, to me, this is the last run. It’s re-tool time after this.

18 turnovers for Celts, 9 steals for GS. Wiggins ability to score in paint was takeaway. Once again GS killed Celts on 2s—32-48, vs. 20-43. On night they mostly couldn’t buy one and got outrebounded and outscored at FT line, attacking rim and finishing made difference. Only 2 blocks from Celts all game. Big edge off bench with 29 combined from Poole and Payton vs. 1 point for D White.

Tiki Barber on his radio show named the Giants as a possible landing spot for Aaron Judge if he goes FA after this season.
    Hilarious!

    • Flavor said, on June 14, 2022 at 7:49 am

yeah because of all those other top tier free agent hitters who have come here in the past. 🙂

      • Lurker John said, on June 14, 2022 at 12:10 pm

No shit. I believe a signing like Judge when the ink dries on the contract. Dude is having a monster year though.

  6. willedav said, on June 14, 2022 at 7:16 am

50-36 edge on points in paint, without dominant big man. My hope is for some trickle down affect on younger players–have to be able to counter D taking away the 3 or days that shot is just not going in, and score consistently from midrange or at rim.

  7. snarkk said, on June 14, 2022 at 8:53 am

Celts after huge game 4 for Steph decided to basically tackle him in game 5, and force everybody else to win the game for the Dubs. They didn’t figure Wiggins would breakout like that. Nor that Dubs would clamp down on D, and only turnover the ball about 7 times. Payton for 15 — that’s pretty cool. That dude plays defense like a fly on S…

  8. willedav said, on June 14, 2022 at 9:01 am

Ray of hope for Kings fans Mike Brown can bring some of D focus to them. As Curry said, it’s all about “effort and intensity.” Great clips from Anthony Slater in Athletic showing how Green and others (including Wiggins and Klay) sparked D that shut Celts down in 4th. There are 2 ends of the floor.

Shea said Wade Jr will head back out to rehab. Also there was story in chron from either Slush or Shea that said Bart isn’t there yet, he’s here working with Will Clark (among others) on his swing. Can only help. Clark talked about helping him cover inside pitches, and help he got from Bonds, who got same from Mays.

Bad scenario for Wade, seems like this knee is hurting more then anyone wants to admit..
Should not have been out this long, it’s a real bummer cause he adds so much to the team when he’s right. This year looks like a wasted season unfortunately for him..

  11. xoot said, on June 14, 2022 at 12:15 pm

All reports I read said Wade has received shots of lubricating (or shock-absorbing) gunk (well, gel) in the knee. I’ve heard of such treatment for arthritis.

June 14 1994, NY Rangers win Stanley Cup. Mark Messier with game winner over Vancouver 3-2.
Defenseman Briant Leetch was first American born winner of Conn Smythe as playoff MVP.

    • djloo27 said, on June 14, 2022 at 4:13 pm

I swear to this day Messier never touched the puck.
He was just the closest to it when a Canuck (and ex-Ranger – John McIntyre?) knocked it in off a scramble in front.
I must be wrong cause I’ve never heard anyone say this…

Was cool to see Matt Cain in booth with K n K and all the perfecto stuff. Arias play is still chilling to watch, back steps and then has to make long throw to Belt for final out. Belt said in Athletic story from Baggs he was physically ill with nerves earlier and sat in spot on bench btw innings reserved for Cain at one point before moving, as Vogs stared daggers at him.

@ djloo and williedav..My pops is from Edmonton. I was there visiting my grandma who lived in a high rise apartment in downtown. Had to get up at 4:00 am to drive to Calgary for an early flight. The noise in downtown was incredible! Horns honking and people in the streets. It was incredible and would have been awesome except for the noise that lasted all night and i got no sleep!!!

Doval black shoes with connect unis looked ok. those white shoes, yuck.
It could only happen to Belt to get hit on first pitch he sees in almost a month. Day game on getaway day.

    • alleykat69 said, on June 15, 2022 at 9:52 am

That’s what Belt deserves cracking out a yuck pair of white shoes for the first time ever.
Finished the game so I guess that’s part of easing him back in the LU?

  47. willedav said, on June 15, 2022 at 7:29 am

Giants promoted SS Wil Wilson from Richmond to Sac. Also Luciano on IL with lower back issue.
First thing I thought about with Walton (.185 OB not gonna be missed) going back down, who backs up Craw? Estrada can’t play everywhere at once, and LaStella still hasn’t played in field.

  48. alleykat69 said, on June 15, 2022 at 10:48 am

Wonder if the Giants would consider bringing up David Villar who’s leading the PCL in homers(16) and RBI’s 46.
Can he play some SS? He’s listed as a 2B/3B/1B guy .Man he crushes the ball to all fields.
Wilson has experience in the bigs so that might be there thinking, either way the magical Z would have to open up a 40 man roster spot first for either guy.

    • Bozo said, on June 15, 2022 at 12:44 pm

Kat, Wilson is going from AA to AAA, I’m pretty sure he hasn’t made it to the Bigs yet. Maybe you’re thinking of Isan Diaz, who we got from Miami?

  49. Macdog said, on June 15, 2022 at 11:08 am

    Going for the sweep:

    RF Gonzalez
    CF Yastrzemski
    3B Flores
    LF Pederson
    DH Belt
    2B Estrada
    SS Crawford
    1B La Stella
    C Casali

    LHP Long

Lincecum’s birthday today. 1984 was a hugely important year in Giants history. Not for how the team played that season, but because Lincecum and Cain were both born that year. Those two, of course, would combine with Bum, Posey, Romo, Affeldt, Lopez, and Castillo to be the 8 who were in all of the 3-in-5 dynasty.

    • djloo27 said, on June 15, 2022 at 1:31 pm
