A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

We Suck Worse Than The Worst Team in The League

Making a note “cannot beat the Reds”….

I’m not ready to call what the Bore Core did an anomaly. I do think Kap’s coaches helped these guys with *bat paths* and all the other new age stuff. Maybe the extra year of life is just the beginning of the end for them. They certainly LOOK old. Hey, it happens. It’s weird that the bounce back year and the shit year are something they are doing in tandem but the facts are, they look and are old.

They really need Jakob Junis back he can actually pitch.Expiration date has ended on Disco, Cobb& Wood meh.
3 Starters out of 5 isn’t nearly enough, but does it matter if you can’t hit? BP way overused as well, arm’s will be falling off soon! John boy now the backup SS lol can’t hit, can’t field, hmm sounds familiar..

Good thing this wasn’t a 4-game series. That’s now 3-5 at home vs. bottom-feeders Nats, A’s and Reds. And of course 2-4 overall vs. the Reds.

You can’t lose 2 of 3 to the Reds at home. Unless you suck.
    Giants suck at the moment…

Yeah they suck considering how easy of a schedule they supposedly had for the month with a shitload of bottom feeders, their the ones playing like them now..

I’ve made it known I’ve not been a fan of platoony ball, although as James said before, when theory and practice come together, as they did last year, it can provide good results. But I think I’ve realized why I dislike it so much: I just can’t “root for the laundry”. I look at any Giants lineup on any given day, and usually I either don’t really know or I couldn’t even care less about half of the starters. During recent downtime, I went back and watched game summaries of the Giants’ entire 2012 post-season. I was struck by how consistent the lineups for all teams were throughout those series. Announcer would give the starting lineups and most of the time prefaced it by saying “pretty much the same as last night”, etc. I got to know those players so well. Even got to know the opposing teams’ players so well in a longer series. Because they were all “starters”. Obviously there was the occasional substitution, but I was rooting for those players, not their laundry, because they were the starters, and I knew them and I liked them.

These days, I’m finding myself challenged to get too excited about just the SF laundry. A small little crisis in my own personal baseball fandom. Snarkk said earlier “this is what happens when you’re constantly changing dudes in/out of the 26 and nobody knows each other well, nor exactly when they’re playing and where.” As a former (very low level) player over the years, I agree with that; all players hated being surprised about constantly changing lineups. I doubt that’s completely why they’re sucking at the moment, but overall… rooting for the laundry ain’t cutting it for me. If platoony ball is indeed the future (and apparently present) of baseball, I fear for my ability to sustain such love of the game. Or at least love of my team….. makes me kinda sad when the answer to the question “Who’s on first?” is truly “I don’t know”….

They’re just so frustrating to watch with all the missed opportunities, GIDP, no team speed, rotten defense and the parade of inconsistent relievers. Still, ya gotta love Mr. Ed – and Joc’s sure won me over.
And btw, they’ll probably both be elsewhere in 2023…

Joc is playing to the next contract, and he’s doing very well. You’re probably right, it won’t be in SF…

I do love Wilmet, and Joc is fun to watch. Obviously injuries to key “starters” such as Belt and Wade Jr. (not even mentioning Longone) have disrupted things, but all teams deal with injuries. I don’t know. I guess there could be a large turnover next year… which would be fine with me if they add what I call real starters.
