A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Beatdown Time

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 28, 2022

Ok we saw what we do against the NL’s worst (click at .333 win %) and now we get to see how we do against the AL’s worst. But man listen, at least Cinn can score runs. Detroit is truly pathetic. They’ve scored 216 total runs this year. That’s so far last the terrible A’s, who are in 2nd to last, have scored 240 absolutely dwarfing them.

So Rodon should absolutely shut this team down tonight. No pussyfooting around. Wipe them out.

Yeah Detroit stinks no doubt about it.41 HR’s in 72 games,(30th) crap team avg,OBP, Slg,Runs scored the shits they are terrible in most every categories, the Giants just better not play down to their level if they expect to take this series.Rodon should blow these bums away easily if the Giants decide to hit and play defense behind him..

  2. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 8:32 am

Up to the defense. As we’ve seen this season, they can be very spotty.

  3. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 8:32 am

    Missed this over the weekend.

    • snarkk said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:05 am

There were more hits in that than the Giants got in some of their recent games…

  4. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:16 am

Nevin got 10 games. Seems like total jerk.

  5. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:32 am

Tigers SP tonight is LHP T Skubal. He gave up 35 bombs last season but only 6 so far this year in 14 starts and has lowered ERA by .70. Both him and SP tomorrow young guys (24.25) Giants have never seen before…

  6. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:48 am

    Oh goodie. Another 2-0 loss.

  7. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:58 am

Willied , Nevin is a total asshole been suspended many times in the past.
Angels started a reliever in a change last minute with only one intent to drill a batter after Angels to exception on Mariners throwing at Trout the game before. Umps could of controlled the situation better after 1st warning both teams earlier but failed to take charge even after Winkler got hit there was time before it got out of hand.
Punkass Nevin came storming out and all hell broke loose.
Rendon out for the season with a broken hand probably? Gets 5 game’s starting next season, big deal, slapping with his good hand in the brawl. It’s the Mariners who got screwed the most, losing 3 starters while the Angels basically only coaches and a scrub reliever..

  8. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 11:06 am

Couple good outings from Giants SPs in minors”
Hjelle went 5 shutout innings Sunday allowed 2 hits 0 BBs 6 Ks.
    Harrison at AA went 7 allowed 2 hits 1 BB K’d 11.

  9. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 12:08 pm

Harrison is going to be a real stud ( Bumgarner/Timmy type I feel) a great signing convincing him not to go to UCLA with basically 1st rd draft money to a 3rd rd steal didn’t hurt, and he’s seems stoked being a Giant and has impressed many scouts and players with his fast development..
I’m actually real excited about the pitching prospects in a few years.
Webb,Harrison,Bednar,Hjelle,Murphy? would be a great starting point are anyone else they can develop among other talented pitchers in the system.
Same goes with position players down the line with Lucky Luciano,Villar,Ramos, Bishop,Pomares,Marte,Bailey&Bart and more talent in the pipeline.

  10. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 12:40 pm

Luis Matos I meant could be there CF for the future( Giants are real high on him) with Ramos in LF,Bishop in RF?
Forgot about Casey Schimdt a 3B with lots of promise and power.
Infield could be shaping up nicely with Luciano, Villar,Estrada Will Wilson? and a 1st baseman yet to be determined..One more year of Crawford, not sure about Belt of course though it wouldn’t shock me if they bring him back again..

  11. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 1:23 pm

Belt? Not a chance. If he ends up paying 83 games with two more IR stints, he may just hang it up.

As may Crawfish if he continues to suck both offensively and defensively.

Crawfish has a whole mess of kids and I’m sure he sees what Buster’s doing and thinks, cool.

If Belt wants to play another year, it won’t be here.

  12. djloo27 said, on June 28, 2022 at 1:49 pm

I could see Belt finishing his career somewhere in Texas and Crawford in SoCal.
Posey as a catcher was a little different case…

  13. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 2:01 pm

Crawfish was born and raised in the Bay Area. Don’t think he goes south. Even if he does live in AZ now.

    • djloo27 said, on June 28, 2022 at 2:13 pm

      You’re right Chuck.
I musta been thinking of UCLA where he went.
Didn’t know he lives in AZ either…

  14. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 2:13 pm

Crawford will just hang ‘em up after next season as a Giants for life and the best SS they ever had..
Belt? I’m not ruling him out cause he could DH ( yeah maybe Designated Hurt) for 3 years are so, the Giants have a hard time tossing loyalty to the curb.Besides ask James how his overall OBP works out more consistently then most on the team..

  15. djloo27 said, on June 28, 2022 at 3:39 pm

    1. Austin Slater (R) CF
    2. Wilmer Flores (R) 2B
    3. Joc Pederson (L) LF
    4. Darin Ruf (R) 1B
    5. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
    6. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
    7. Yermin Mercedes (R) DH
    8. Thairo Estrada (R) SS
    9. Austin Wynns (R) C

    P: Carlos Rodon (L)

  16. djloo27 said, on June 28, 2022 at 3:42 pm

For anyone who might think Yermin Mercedes is some hot shot kid they called up, that is not the case…

  17. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 4:07 pm

Yeah not much value, and a liability in the field, hence the DH label which won’t last long..
I only like him some cause he can’t stand prima donna LaRussa, which counts a lot in my book..

  18. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 4:56 pm

    He looks like Pablito.

  19. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 5:44 pm

Slush says Wade Jr is in SF and could be activated tomorrow. Said the injections to knee helped a lot.

  20. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:15 pm

Well they have to activate Wade Jr, he has a bobble head day on Saturday July 2.
Bad PR if he’s not there for it..

  21. zumiee said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:43 pm

I got a really good watermelon at Costco today, so it’s got me on a very positive vibe about tonight’s game.

  22. zumiee said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:46 pm

Man, what happened to Javier Baez’s career? Playing for the Tigers is existing in complete obscurity.

  23. James said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:51 pm

Rodon at 91 -93 mph?!? If that continues, the playoffs are 100% out of reach.

  24. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:56 pm

Rodon usually adds velo as he goes. But yeah wasn’t sure I was seeing right at 91.
OK, he’s at 80 innings coming in, which have been mostly very good, and opt out triggers at 110.
So, what would you do if he wants another deal?

  25. James said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:58 pm

The Tigers’ pitcher has better stuff than Rodon so far.

    • alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:06 pm

But it’s the Giants with a 2-0 lead..

      • James said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:09 pm

Yep, not complaining about that. A stretch of good fortune would nice.

  26. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 6:59 pm

Rodon will be 30 this December. 2 yr deal is for $44mil, $21.5 this year $22.5 next year.

  27. Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:09 pm

Maybe 2 will be enough against this team.

  28. zumiee said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:16 pm

That Angels/Mariners brawl took things to a new level of stupid. Starting an “opener” pitcher with the purpose to hit somebody and get thrown out of the game.
Two teams that hardly anyone cares about. I heard an MLB Network pundit say “Trout is must-see TV.”
Really? Who thinks that besides Angels fans? Who goes out of their way to see Angels games because they just have to see Trout ABs?

    • Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:21 pm

Best part is the Angels translator getting suspended.

  29. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:17 pm

Maybe Rodon wasn’t completely warmed up to start, it happens a lot, he’s hitting 93-94 now..

  30. willedav said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:32 pm

cbs had that last fastball at 96. Usually he’s 97 and up. Shutting them down so far.

  31. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:40 pm

More fallout from the Angels/Mariners brawl..
Angels reliever Archie Bradley fractured a bone in his right elbow jumping over the dugout rail and will be sidelined anywhere from 1 to 2 months..,

    • zumiee said, on June 28, 2022 at 7:44 pm

Well, no one expects baseball players to be Einsteins, I guess.

      • alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 8:00 pm

True ask Alfred Affeldt about dumbshit freak injuries.Lots of ball players just have no brains..

  32. Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 8:32 pm

Up 4 better be enough against this team.

  33. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 8:47 pm

    Anyone up in the pen?

  34. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:03 pm

  36. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Why bring in Brebbia to face 2 lefties?

  37. Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Tigers are whacking the ball all over these last two innings.

  38. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Make that back to back doubles, my lord Rodon has to be pulling his hair out..

  39. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:06 pm

  52. Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:42 pm

What’s the interpreter say for “You suck?”

  53. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:43 pm

Krukow ..Leone is alittle out of wack???
The whole fucking inning he was on 26 pitches mostly freaking balls!
Oh jeez a Kapler sighting? What game besides the Giants was he watching??

    • Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 9:48 pm

And the 2nd out was a rocket to RF saved by Yaz

  54. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:02 pm

If you want to be the closer. . .

  55. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:02 pm

    No walks!!!

  56. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:03 pm

  57. unca_chuck said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:04 pm

Yes! Closer than it should have been but a win is a win.

  58. Macdog said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:04 pm

    It’s a win!

  59. snarkk said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:06 pm

Giants Pen seem like they’re running on fumes about 6 weeks too soon…

  60. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:07 pm

Never a doubt with Doval who likes his share of drama then produced a clutch DP to seal a win for Rodon who deserved it..

  61. mrsprtdude said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:11 pm

Yes!! With Bullpen on fumes why take Rondon out? 86 pitches and both the last 2 hits were weak opo shots. Is Kapler watching?

  62. djloo27 said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:14 pm

  63. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:20 pm

Yeah sprtdude, It really bugs me watching Kapler and his little minion clone Correia with there matching dorky glasses 🤓 just looking with blank stares as their pitchers get lit up and their never in a hurry to ever make a change..

  64. alleykat69 said, on June 28, 2022 at 10:30 pm

Hats off to Yaz and his GG play in the field twice tonight in RF probably the toughest RF in baseball .

Yaz made a great point about that RF when he said a lot of luck comes into play when you have a 1/3 brick wall, 1/3 chain link, and a 1/3 padding.Ball hits the padding you have a chance at a play at second, like I got tonight Brick alittle less, chain link no chance.
