WOW
One of the problems with being addicted to The Open—you miss games like last night’s. When you go to bed at 8pm for a couple quick cat nap hours there is a price to pay. I had to watch that glorious ending on mlb.com.
What a game.
I wish Kuip still had to voice to make those calls but he just doesn’t anymore. A grand ending like that, he would have used his most booming of voices. That’s ok at least he’s alive.
In Athletic, Grant Brisbee wrote about how long it’s been since Giants walk off bomb on July 12th, just few days ago. This was after Crawford walk off single yada yada.
Another 4:15 (left coast time) Fox game today. K n K plus Miller/Flem et al are one thing but Karros is flat no.
Still can’t get over what happened, incredible finish. More HRs, pls.
Poor Wade, who did crush couple balls early in first 2 ABs. Remember his 1b play from last season, which wasn’t encouraging. But I guess with Belt and Flores (?) still unavailable there, Ruf is only other option. Still, wasn’t one of Kap’s rules if you hit a HR you got to stay in lineup?
Do remember camera showing Bart sitting in dugout with shin guards on too after his bomb. Yaz gave him credit for saying something after Brewers big inning too, trying to keep positive vibe going at time. Impressive on lot of levels.
So was Slater, with 4 hits in rare start vs. RHP.
Yeah, I saw that too with Bart. Despite some shaky moments, a little credit to the ‘pen for keeping the Brewers hitless over last 4 innings before the solo bombs and grandson slam rally.
Good point. Brewers only scored in that one awful inning. Marte and Long survived walks to shut them out.
Btw saw vid of Giants last walk off HR, by Donnie Barrels from Aug 2020 to beat LA 10-8 in extras.
I was wondering if there’s an unwritten rule for home team catchers about how many runs you can be behind in the 9th inning and still be expected to put your shin guards on for possible extra innings…
Sorry if this is a repost. Had no idea of the Giants game till seeing Flav’s post. Looking at the score this morning thought oh easy win. What a shock to see the outcome. Hoping to see Fitzpatrick make a run this morning.
Saw tweets after the game that last time Giants won on walkoff grand slam was 1973 when Bobby Bonds did it against the Dodgers — off Jim Brewer. I sorta remember this one, early Sept., probably Labor Day, and pretty sure it was Monday Night game on NBC, but 10-year-old me wasn’t allowed to stay up for the finish and I likely found out on the radio the next morning.

That was a surprising and fun season. Bonds seemed like the best player in the game.
Helped anyone who might’ve been suffering from a post-Mays depression…
Yeah, that was the year Chris Speier was on the SI cover. And Bonds sure seemed like it, especially after his All-Star Game performance. Then the season ended for the 88-win third-place Giants while we had to watch the 82-win Mets go to the World Series.
Watching the 9th inning on youtube.
Thanks chuck. Glad I got to see that.
Got to say though, those Brewers hats are the bomb. Dug those ones bck in the day.
This is pretty cool too
he REJECTED 440 million dollars. WTF are we even doing anymore?
I guess he really doesn’t want to play in Washington. Half a billion fucking dollars though?
Can the owners sustain this kind of spending? Is the TV money going to be there in 4 years? When will streaming put these TV deals out to pasture? It’s mind boggling.
I think their offer comes out to less than $30M/per season.
He knows he’ll get way more from the usual suspects.
And thanks for posting the YouTube video from last night.
I thought I might’ve dreamed it…
Great leaderboard at the 150th British Open
Hovland -14 McElroy -12 C Smith -12 C Young-12Scheffler -10 Communist DJohnson-10 Cantlay -10
It’s moving Day Saturday…Still I like Smith&McElroy to win it.Possibly Scheffler also if he gets his putter going..
Funny how Bart went inside the clubhouse after his HR by himself probably to release some F**K Bombs satisfactions before returning to the dugout! We’re all hoping for a turnaround for him and this game could go along way to it.He’s been hitting the ball hard so time will tell after the break..
Talk the Giants are interested in Cincinnati Reds Brandon Drury can play 3B/SS/2B/1B and outfield corner spots
Hitting .275 with 18 Bombs this is more in the Z/C Johnson budget move. Salary only 9K.Good solid RH bat you could plug right into the heart of the order..Besides u can never have enough Brandon’s right Loo?
Article in Athletic re how bad the Giants drafts have been. Worst in majors since 2015 of actually getting a drafted player to the majors.
All 227 players drafted have a combined WAR of 15.4 but 12.4 of it is Bryan Reynolds.
Of the 3 WAR of the other 226 draftees…
2.5 is Duggar. 0.9 Baragar, 0.7 Suarez 0.4 Bart.
Awful
I’d love to get Soto, but our entire minor league organization might not be enough!!
Rodon backing out of A/S game. Giants don’t offer any explanation. They are in LA for 4 afterwards.
Good move Rodon labored hard in his last start.Get the rest instead of an exhibition game and be fresher and more relaxed taking on the dogpile..
apparently has blister too and split nail.
50. Feel old right now Loo?
Seems like another lifetime.
I think that was the last time Paul Feliciano rode him…
According to Slush Junis said he will be activated today off IL.
Probably to take Llovera’s spot as he goes on IL..
Junis I suspect would work out the pen first to build up his arm strength..
Junis should start and go 3-4 innings. Its a bullpen game anyway if he doesn’t right?
Ok Giants fans, Juan Soto rejected the Gnats $440 million 15 year offer. Kyle Harrison is the one prospect I don’t touch. Does a starting offer of Luciano and Ramos and a slew of other prospects excite anyone??? He is a Boras client so that is one negative. We need a transformational player to anchor our lineup for the next decade. Soto is under control for two more years so maybe you also don’t have to resign him but then I am not adding Luciano in any deal that does not have a Soto extension. The spin is that Soto/Boros want the largest average yearly contract amount.
Trout is just over $35 mill/year. Soto at $36 mill for 10 years? I would expect though Judge goes over that.
And I suspect Ohtani will blow past Judge..
RE: Bobby Bonds and last walk off Slam in ’73.
When I was a kid, not even 10, I saw Bobby play A ball all the hot summer of ’66 with Fresno Giants at the old John Euless park.
Probably saw a dozen games that season, at least. I played Little League. I was addicted to baseball. My mom would drop me off a 1/2 hour before the game, and pick me up in the dark after the game in the parking lot at a predetermined spot and time. I went alone. Alone. Maybe a game or two with a baseball team buddy. No cell phone of course. If the game ended really early, I’d call on the pay phone for an early pickup. School nights, weekend nights, didn’t matter. I’d have a dollar or two, so I could have an ice cream (Refresho bars were it) and a limp luke warm hot dog with lots of regular mustard. I think dogs were maybe 25 cents. Usually I’d have a dollar and change left over. I don’t remember going to any day games, not sure if there were any. Too damn hot.
At that level, you can easily see who is going to go up the ladder. Bobby would hit massive moon ball shots over the wall in left center. He’d steal 2nd and be on the bag while the throw was still in flight. Ran down everything in the OF. 1st to 3rd in a flash. I imagined him playing at the ‘Stick soon with Willie, which he did, of course. In those days, foul pops in the stands — some old dude would find you and demand the ball in exchange for free ticket to a later game. Can you imagine that now? Any of those games was more interesting than most of what passes for baseball now in MLB.
Seems like a different time/space dimension when I think of that now — like a photo from the Webb telescope…
BTW, thinking back when I was 10. Innocent, into playing ball, watching ball. Listening to ball on the transitor.
Now we have politicians and law enforcement officials who will gladly, eagerly force by law, 10-year old girl rape victims to carry their rapist’s spawn to term and give birth. These aszhats will re-traumatize a child for 9 months, and the rest of her life, giving even more power to the rapist over his victim. Then the rapist, a relative as often as not, can claim paternal rights over “his child”. 10 year old girls, 11, 12, 13, whatever. Girls, CHILDREN themselves. Their bodies are not prepared for pregnancy, it could kill them, do permanent damage. Just happened in Ohio, the girl had just turned 10, had to flee to Indiana for an abortion at 6 weeks. Now the Ohio AG wants to prosecute all involved in saving her. This will continue to happen, and other girls will not be as fortunate. It’s bad enough these pigs will force adult women rape victims to do this. As the father of two daughters, there are not enough words I have to describe my feelings for these vile, lunatic scumbag Seditionist politicians and their supporters. This cannot stand. As a country, we are in a bad way. I believe most countries in the world would consider this to be child abuse and human torture. I do. The next thing is banning birth control altogether, banning mixed and same sex marriage. States are already ginning up bills banning interstate travel. Back we go to pre-Civil war days banning interstate travel of Blacks? The SCOTUS has ruled on several occasions that Americans have a constitutional right to travel freely. I supposed this current SCOTUS can find that was “egregiously wrong”. WTF are we headed?…
Yes.
Great story Snarkk! Games, cub scouts.. Same drop off / pick up. A simpler time for sure..
As a baseball diehard i can’t help but appreciate Kershaw. A great player, team ambassador. teammate.
I never root for him to do well, but it is amazing he became the 1st player ever in expansion era to have two 7+ perfect innings games in the same season. He is remarkable considering he was drafted the SAME YEAR as Lincecum!
Go Giants! Lets win out for a good break!
whoa Crawford back to IL with same knee inflammation. Longoria activated.
Villar at 2b.
so he’ll crash into Ruf today
Didn’t they recently lose SS Will Wilson to a hamate surgery for the season? SS position getting thin, maybe that’s why they’re is a push for Brandon Drury at the deadline?
Yaz hits a grandslam off a LH closer and sits today for another LH RF? wtf?
“Kap, I know you’re tempted to put me in the line up today, but I want you to know I’m all in on your beautiful strength in numbers approach. After a sober review of my splits today, I cannot let you give in to sentiment.”
“Yaz, I gotta say, I know it took a lot of guts to tell me not to go with my gut.” “Well, actually what I meant is, you know, I know you got no guts, skipper. But I think we understand each other.”
“Thank you for your feedback, Yaz.”
“Hey, every game’s unique, skip. Someday you’ll realize that.”
Had to see this low scoring affair today.
Nice Ruf dogg.
He didn’t learn that shitty defense on The Farm I can tell you that
That’s the third time Slater has lost the ball this year.
Fuck. Lost the feed, got it back just in time to see the sac fly. Slater and Yaz both fucked up?
Yaz punished for doing a good deed. Dropped the ball after covering for Slater, extra base for Renfroe.
Just started watching in time for Slater twisting the lead away.
And now Brebbia.
And now Brebbia walks the 1st guy he sees.
My biggest beef with Brebbia is that he’s impossible to look at.
Especially when he is hanging sliders.
Bart bails him out though.
And now Brebbia ignores the fast guy on 1st.
Kap being Kap? Why is he doing this there’s zero chance they overturn it
Because Brebbia will give up the lead. Take the small chance.
My biggest beef is is sucks harder than a Dyson.
Here comes the double. Fuck this. This is why we can’t win more than 2 in a row.
Wow. Thank you Brewers!!!!!
Fucking shoot Brebbia.
Message queues can be fickle.
Whoa whoa whoa! Lol. When I was a kid my dad took me to a dodger game, Sutton was pitching. Rivalry was juicing me up and I started screaming “kill don Sutton!!!!!” I said it over and over. I was probably 10. Fans around me went dead silent. I thought my dad was gonna kill me
There should be no age limitations to heckle the Dodgers imo.
But with Pops yeah I could see the snake eyes 👀 look..
ah, Joey! Not bad. Longo helped too. Plays like that . . . .
Now you’re out! Way to go Bart!
Suter looks like shitter out there.
Huh. All my messages got scrambled up there. Everything going wonky around here.
Don’t remember that guy being on the Giants.
Yeah I remember him and I didn’t like when they got rid of him..
Hit ’em again. Back to the DL for Shorto.
Back to back grannies?
There goes Longo for a couple weeks.
10 days coming up for Longoria again taking it in the left oblique again..
does Yaz get an RBI?
no
thanks so much
Wow. Not really sure I saw anything there.,
🤣🤣🤣
That was absolutely a balk. He didn’t step off he moved his foot and it was still on the rubber. That’s a balk.
Basically he fucked up stepping off the mound
It was real close his right foot being off the rubber to me but whatever..
“It’s so loud in here . . .” Ha!
Hawaiian shirt giveaway day.
Wow that was a ticky tack balk call to me, but it’s all good thanks 😊
Maybe he didn’t step off the rubber completely?
I think that’s it. Just step out completely, start over.
The third base ump seemed to be calling the balk, too, for what that’s worth.
Looked like the home plate ump to me.
Both of them called it, based on the replay from the first base side.
Payback for Benitez 15 years later…
Lost the feed from my TV, now my computer crapped out. Sucks. Streameast has been money for 1.5 years.
it was obviously a balk i don’t know what these fox announcers are talking about. He tried to step off and fucked up. Granted I only saw that live and one replay but that’s what it looked like to me
Looked to me like his cleat hit the rubber and he didn’t fully step off. But hey whatevs. A run is a run.
Who;s pitching? Doval?
Jesus Spaghetti Leone your killing me Kap wtf!!
if you step off the mound you have to step off the damn mound. He didn’t get his foot all the way off the mound. Auto balk, easy call
Fuck Leone!!!
Fuckin Spaghettios…
WTF is going on?
Your feed out?
Man on 3rd – 2 out…
Still have MLB audio . . . got to hear the outs but not the errrors in the 9th.
Kapler is gonna die by the way he completely fucks up his bullpen. Just not sold on this roulette wheel dart-throwing style everyone throws anywhere.
Yeah your stupid leaving Leone in Kap with 2 lefties coming up..
Balk off.
👍👍👍
Another W! I don’t feel bad about winning that way, clear balk and that’s on the pitcher who lost the game for his team by being an idiot
Yep.
He also hit Longo. on a 1-2 count.
Yes!
Or not. Wow. This defense has some splaining to do.
I lost the streameast feed too, Chuck. First time that’s ever happened.
After those sliders, batter “frozen by heat on the black” . . . Leone killed it; Joey loved it. Entertaining, enjoyable game. I’m getting more optimistic.
Mine’s been spotty for 3 days now.
