A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Drag Of A Game

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on July 22, 2022

Last night was exhibit A of why we need to fleece Al Avila of his best bullpen arms. Give them whatever he wants it doesn’t matter. Everything Avila wants turns to shit.

What a waste of a nice offensive game from us.

Del Mar opens today.

Yeah typical Giants leadoff double by Slater and that’s as far as he gets!
Team is allergic of runs with a guy in scoring position..

  2. alleykat69 said, on July 23, 2022 at 4:49 pm

Why is are 1st base coach Richardson always in controversy?
Last night just a few pitches in he’s moving away from the 1st base box towards the line and in front of the box trying to pick up pitches and signal the batter Slater. Roberts noticed it and got the Umps together to get him back in the designated area. It’s sad when are 1st base coach is getting more airtime then are players

Slater may be elevating himself to trade bait status…

  4. zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 4:57 pm

The Giants aren’t going to sell off key guys while the team is still pretty close to that last Wild Card spot. I don’t remember a season where that ever happened.

  5. zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:00 pm

Dave Roberts: nice guy, good guy, but an over-rated manager. He took over a team that had finished in first place the year before, and has been loaded with talent for about ten seasons in a row. And won one championship, during the mini-season.

  6. zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:08 pm

Dodger broadcasters for the Fox game, oh yay.

  7. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:12 pm

Wow, you tried to give him that pitch twice in the earlier AB.

    Come on, man.

  8. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:14 pm

    ho hum.

  9. zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:16 pm

This four-game series came at a bad time. The Giants had some momentum going after that Brewers series.

  10. zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:20 pm

When Mercedes bats, my response is usually “Really? Seriously?”
I nominate him as most-likely next player to be DFA-ed.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:25 pm

He’ll have to get behind Longo. Who just tweaked a hammy.

      • zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:29 pm

Yeah, Longo injured again. Big shocker.
Tampa Bay Rays are probably still marveling at that trade.

  11. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:23 pm

We make up for our poor defense by being painfully slow.

    • zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:26 pm

Seriously. The whole team is a Bore Core this season, really. Some players are just a shell of what they were last season. Crawford, Belt, Wade, etc.

  12. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:24 pm

Reporter: “How to you feel about your team’s execution?”

    Manager: “I’m all for it.”

  13. Macdog said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:28 pm

I’m at Camden Yards for Yanks-O’s, probably not missing much with the Giants.

    • zumiee said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:30 pm

You made the right choice today!

  14. xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:29 pm

We’ll miss Longo’s great hands at 3B, his arm, his RH power threat, yet again. His fill-in for 2B on the shift? Who knows. Villar’s like Panik 2014, but with no great moments to aspire to.

    • alleykat69 said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:38 pm

Another 10 day minimum for Longo coming up.
The play by play guys saying the Giants have a tough choice with him next year?
13 mil are 5 mil buyout geez 🙄 like he won’t get bought out lol? He will gladly take the 5 mil and retire..

      • djloo27 said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:28 pm

They would buy him out for $12M if they had to.
I think everyone here hated that deal from day one…

      • xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:50 pm

I remember the day I saw mlbtr report that longo was on the block. I immediately saw him rolling toward us like one of those massive clouds of dust that buried the Okies way back when. He was inexorable. He was a Sabes/Evans dumb long-term vet deal and there was nothing we could do about it but weep.

  15. alleykat69 said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:33 pm

Momentum comes and goes. unless your the dogpile hosting the A/S game, no traveling, just some local beach time,Disneyland etc..

Rather watch the Legendary Airline Highjacker D.B Cooper, dude was brilliant in a day when there was no security at all in the 70’s and made fools of the FBI .They have a mini series on his escapades on Netflix right now,

    • xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:49 pm

Black Panthers hijacked jets like cabs back then, and Cooper demanded $200K — about one million now. That’ll buy you a modest townhouse in Sunnyvale.

  16. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:40 pm

    Drag of a series.

  17. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:41 pm

    When it ain’t going your way . . .

    • xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:10 pm

Giants need to preserve what they have on the farm, improve that, and sign FAs in the offseason. I’m not a businessman, but I used to play one in real life.

  18. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 5:58 pm

Soto = KD. No way either team should even be thinking about those deals.

  19. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:13 pm

Thing about the trade is, there’s no guarantee he stays after 2024. SO, you lose your farm and he’s gone .

  20. xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:19 pm

I wish Joey had blasted that into the LF bleachers — instead of popping it up. Urias deserves a few blasts.

  21. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:30 pm

    Wow. Great AB there. Yawwwwwwwn.

    • James said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:46 pm

Most bad ABs you can see how a hitter has been fooled on one or more pitches. That one was a complete mystery.

  22. djloo27 said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:33 pm

Bark back down to .176 – after getting as high as .188 during his recent “hot” streak…

    • James said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:43 pm

We strain to see progress, celebrating every little sign of the good to come, but … Will Smith.

  23. willedav said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:55 pm

Marte looks like he has stuff to be successful, just lost control. Jarlin bailed him out, then gave up 2 out hits to LHs. Lux btw is officially a pain. Seems to be able to do damage at worst times.

Very cool of Mac to hit O’s games. Reading other blogs their fans are really high on that team and they have more prospect guys coming up too. Good for them…though owner sucks.

  24. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:56 pm

I think the Mercedes is running on two flat tires.

Shut the fuck up, Karros. The Giants haven’t done shit.

  25. James said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:57 pm

Come on, Joey, make me look bad!

  26. xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

bloop instead of a pop up

  27. willedav said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:01 pm

Good friend of mine used to wear old school O’s hat. Orange bill, white in front/black behind it with bird logo in middle of white in front.

  28. James said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:05 pm

The first HR Brebbia has given up this year. I’m guessing I might be the only Flapper who cares to acknowledge this.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:09 pm

      You are correct, sir.

    • willedav said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:11 pm

Nah good stat; he’s been decent bargain pickup. Freeman raking everyone right now. That was off fastball too.
Giants not named Slater are 1-22 today.
1 run yesterday, 1 x 5 run inning day before. Dogs pitching doing number on them.

  29. alleykat69 said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:09 pm

Welcome to the party pal, as Brebbia Aisle joins in on the bomb parade!
Meantime Giants 000000000 will surely happen zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  30. willedav said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:19 pm

Giants have given up fewest bombs in NL and have hit 40 more (113-73) coming into today than they have given up. Team ERA was at #5 coming in 3.77, yet due to shoddy D runs against per game was only 9th NL.

    • unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:31 pm

The Giants have given up the most unearned runs in the majors.

  31. willedav said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:21 pm

At least Sammy and Bart figured out Bellinger can’t hit his fastball.

  32. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:30 pm

    They’ve surprised me before.

So this is where the fat fuck Moronta went. He wasn’t too bad till he got hurt.

    Wow. Just keep walking guys.

  33. xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:35 pm

    lucky bloop!

  34. Bozo said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:35 pm

Got two back, come on Slater.

  35. Bozo said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:38 pm

    Fuck.

  36. xoot said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:40 pm

turrble called strike three — Slater’s swings were just off in that AB, but his eye was terrific. shitty end. He deserved better. hell, so did we.

  37. unca_chuck said, on July 23, 2022 at 7:40 pm

Jesus. 6″ inside. That’s fucked up. You gotta protect, but that’s not hittable.
