We Continue To Lose On Every Level
I’m just disgusted with this Soto deal for San Diego. We DID have the prospects but SD adding Gore who has like 6 years of control left as a solid #2 starter was huge. We might not have had that capital in the end but being creative is what Z is supposed to be good at. So I will ask this, respectfully…..
What exactly is Farhan doing? I know he can dumpster dive but what else can he do? He’s just sitting on his hands watching LA and SD enrich themselves to ridiculous levels. What is he getting paid to do, exactly?
I’m just sick to death about all of this.
My son started texting me as soon as the Soto deal was done. His disgust, outrage, and threats to boycott only grew stronger as the day went on. Well, he’s still fairly young. Current owners, I agreed, may care less about the profits they can reap from a few good multi-year FA deals and more about the revenue that’ll flow from their new VISA HQ tower across the water where McCovey’s statue once stood. But I reminded him of a night game we watched together on our old NoDef tv when he was five, when the Giants, despite Bonds and Williams, et al, were struggling not to lose 100. The way rookie Estes’s curve tricked batters that night was a delight. Next season, they won the division. We then discussed the mid-80s and the mid- (and later-) oughts. Of course, many things have changed, but . . . .
Farhan’s system worked last year. His system can’t do a fucking thing this year with much less talent across the board. He and his staff understand such problems at levels we don’t even know exist. Will young Johnson (and the other owners) untie the purse strings? They say the McCovey statue will return to its triumphal place beside the cove. I’m sure it will, because it will enhance profit.
