Don’t Forget Gents, It’s An Even Year
All I can say is that I am so thankful that Z kept this powerhouse dynasty together. Can you imagine if he’d broken it up? I mean he did threaten to by jettisoning Ruf, Rosenthal, Casali and Boyd. But in the end he kept The Core together. Now all that’s left is for our meteoric rise to the top to commence……
If you’re Alex Cobb you have to be getting particularly tired of this shit show, right? He’s been great the last 3 starts and he’s got jack to show for it.
I think they’ve all been Cained at one point or another this season
Giants held top 3 in lineup, Betts Turner and Freeman, without a hit, Lux too. Yet, agony of defeat, again.
Yaz is now 3-27 since AS break and OPS is barely above .700. Sure Gonzo went loony tunes but he was up with chance to get Giants back into game and popped out. Wade Jr of 2022 is lost. Coaching staff unable to help these guys out of doldrums, Joc either. Davis who does not come with strong defensive rep at 3b. Vosler at least can hit some–for team not going anywhere why not give him longer look vs. LaStella’s of the group. Wonder if platooning/PHing is starting to bother some of vets and contributing to general lifelessness.
Was another good outing for Cobb who has lowered ERA from over 6.00 to under 4.00 He’s making $10 mil this season and next. Continues to build resume toward next deal.
What a fucking disaster. Hanging on to Rodon and Pederson is going to look dumber and dumber the longer this goes on. 8 days until the Niners’ first preseason game and yes I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully Garoppolo is gone by then.
Giants broadcast team far cry from days of Hodges Simmons and Greenwald. One of things Hank could do was inject some levity into a team doomed to fail quite often–maybe Flemming picks up some of that.
Gil Scott Heron equated nostalgia with nausea at one time and wasn’t wrong. But I did enjoy listening to games on radio back in day and following along yesterday’s games in box scores.
Now? Baseball writers like Brisbee are more into combing Net to find obscure stats/sites that tell you Giants pitching gives up most soft contact in majors. zzzz
Out of twitter jail. They didn’t know why they suspended me either.
how long?
I don;t go on that much but I guess it was about 4 days?
“Wade Jr of 2022 is lost.”
Yeah, he’s not a major leaguer this season. He’s on the roster only because of the memory of him from last season. His AB with the bases loaded and no out is arguably the worst AB of any Giant this season, given the situation and the importance of the game. The AB ended with him whining to the ump about the strike three pitch that was, indeed, a strike.
Yaz too man, I don’t get it. June he hit .168, July he hit .176 with 1 HR in 74 ABs. June OPS was .600, July .550. Stats were down a little 2021 but he still had 25 HRs. Stuck on 9 and seems to have lost power stroke.
As for Wade Jr., if he is not 100% they might just as well shut him down and wait til next year.
If the Giants lose today, that’s a brutal stretch of 0-8 vs. the Dodgers in a two week span. That’s pretty historic in a horrible way.
And no Giants game on Friday night? Gee, thanks MLB. That’s a capper on a cruddy two weeks of scheduling. Well, at least there was the 4-game Cubs series, but still.
Giants 26 man roster 18 players are 30 years are older that’s not even including Longoria &Crawford on the DL soon to replace a couple younger guys! This team is so geriatric dinosaurs it’s unbelievable!
And where did this pitcher Alex Young come from I must of missed his dumper dive pickup , one of the 30 and older club..
Yeah base running is a joke on this old freaking team! Back in the 60’s 70’s 80’s a base hit ALWAYS scored a run from second!!Not this team they barely make it to third and the breaks are on..
Lux again with 2 out rbi. Man this guy is a pain
Thanks. Wonder who the trumpet and reed player were. Nice band behind him.
Yaz and Wade are border line major leaguers. They had no real MLB pedigree before coming to SF. To expect them to produce consistently at a high level like tried and true MLB players is a mistake. If you’re not really good and good at making adjustments, you’re not going to be a good MLB hitter. The league will always catch up to you and finds/exploits your weakness. Yaz is a good defensive player, but not great, not elite, by any means. Wade’s D is pedestrian. These guys would be way down towards the end of the bench pine on a really good team. Here, they are key platoon players, and when they don’t produce, people are agitated. But, it’s who they are…
Well, hell. If Krukow’s right about hand strength, JD’s recently repaired left hand does seem to have healed.
Kuiper talking about the Giants’ top three in 83, of course, brought to mind LeMaster’s BOO jersey. I’ll bet you could make some money selling copies of that along the SF Embarcadero before and after home games.
Wilmet’s arm looked fine there as he guns down Gallo at the plate.
Gallo to the gallows.
Dammit!
Yep leave it to the shit bullpen to cough up the lead with Brebbia aisle serving a perfect pitch to Betts to crush!!
And of course on cue leadoff single followed by a DP!!
They suck getting any big hit with runners on..
happy to see Kap get tossed. It’s probably not gonna move the needle on the season but I have grown excessively tired of his boardroom attitude
Agree Flavor it needs to happen even more now that sliding farther down a hopeless W/C spot! Kapler got his moneys worth with that rant protecting Garcia who was mouthing off with whining Mookie!
i thought Kap was gonna fight either the ump or even Kai. He was fucking HHHOOOOTTTTT!
Yeah I was wanting for blows, first Kap was really in ump Cuzzi’s face then he’s stiff arming Kai away like a rag doll he was blowing smoke out of his ears HOTTTT..
Lol that dude Carlos Ramirez is such a tool, do the Giants need a superstar player? Well duh Dumbshit and they could use more then one!!
Best chance and the smartest move is to get Judge if he opts out! And you don’t give up any prospects just a boatload of money 💰 fucking do it ..
Judge: 7/300?
With an opt out in there somewhere?
Sounds good to me Loo,Judge grew up rooting for the Giants, local kid from Linden it’s out in “Zumie Valley territory”.Whatever it takes to get him in a Giants uniform cause watching this team is worse then getting a root canal!!! They need a stud like him plus another good player to protect him..
LMAO when I saw a quote about Joey Gallo from sports bar dude..
“The Yankees made a trade to the Dodgers for a real life human being “
Dogs have a team thing they do when they get a hit, and Garcia was mocking it (tapping his head with his fist) as he came off the mound recording final out of inning. Betts was in on deck circle, and came towards plate while Garcia and Outman (who had K’d) were snapping at each other. So at that point umps stepped in and next thing you know Correa is in charge.
As Baggs noted, Kap’s first ever ejection as SF mgr.
Bottom of order up for LA 8 9 then 1. Now if someone got buzzed here…
Surprised the Giants haven’t gotten more chippy since this is the 8th loss in 2 weeks. What a fuck ing disaster.
Rodon and Joc play out the string for nothing.
Thank God for football.
Two straight 4-game series sweeps by LA.
Is that a record, or has that happened before?
Either way, it’s disastrous.
This squad can roll over now, or buck up and at least play clean ball for a while.
They can’t score, I don’t think that will change…
I never thought I’d see that happen. Even when they’ve sucked, they usually play LA tough, as in beat them about half the time. Not this year. Makes me hat the Dodgers even more, but I’m frustrated with how this team is being run right now. All they ever seem to do it wait.
Completely outclassed…
What LJ said ^ this team just has no heart! Highlight was Kapler going off, well overdue!!
Umps were really baiting him too to get tossed in away, going into the dugout almost are the rail? that was pretty unprofessional, but at this point who cares?
On this date in 1936, Jesse Owens stood on a podium and received his gold medal in the long jump at the ’36 Olympics in Berlin. Germany was under Nazi control, as we all know, of course, and the second place finisher was a German named Lutz Long, who later died in WWII.
I’ve been listening to the audiobook of “The Boys in the Boat,” about a rowing team from the U.S. who won a gold medal at the ’36 Olympics. (That’s not a spoiler. At the beginning of the book, the author says the team won the gold medal.) The book is well-written and really engaging. I don’t have a natural interest in rowing, but the book makes the rowing stuff really interesting. And the book is about so much more than that. It is indeed about the guys in the boat, but one guy in particular who grew up in dire poverty and had to overcome incredible odds during the Great Depression to end up being one of the ‘boys in the boat.’ He’s not famous, but his story is very poignant and inspiring. The author very effectively takes the reader (or listener) on a journey back in a time machine.
There was a time when rowing, or as it is called, “crew,” was a HUGE sport in the U.S. Thousands would show up to lakes to watch big rowing events, especially show-downs between the Eastern and Western universities. People would listen on the radio to rowing events! Just a really different era.
The reader for the audiobook is the actor Edward Herrmann. He does a great job, and it was one of Herrmann’s last projects. He passed away in 2014.
It wasn’t too long ago that I read an article about a couple of guys who were considered the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier of Tiddlywinks. This is what happens when the Giants suck…
Lol Lol, I used to play tiddlywinks with friends as a kid when we were bored, along with the paper triangle football where you needed to have it end up hanging on the edge of a table to score, then for the extra point your opponent had to put his index fingers together with your thumbs up and you could drill one off his face, which was very satisfying!!
Damm I would have more fun doing that right now, then no fun watching shitty baseball right now..
well a cool off day and then road trip starts vs. A’s on weekend and then on to Petco for 3.
Rodon will get first start. He said he wanted to stay and try to win games. and he fires things up all on his own to begin with. for him he has chance to build resume over 10 starts or so and I don’t think he plans on coasting in..
J D Davis bomb off Kershaw to RF was impressive. Maybe he just needs some regular PT and like Gallo, to get out of New York. At this point can’t hurt to give him a shot, either at 3b DH or elsewhere. Speaking of which, I think it sucks Kap has taken out the rook Johnson after half the game. He’s started 2 of them and he has 3 ABs total even he’s a switch hitter. It’s not like his replacements (guys that have been here all along) have done anything.
With the Giants circling the drain, and Streameast on the fritz, baseball is as good as dead to me.
Go Niners!!
