A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

It Starts Now

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 12, 2022

Well, not sure where we go now. Rodon wiping out the Pirates tonight would be a good start. I’m happy to just sit back and watch this unfold.

    Or unravel.
How’s Del Mar treating you boss?

  2. Bozo said, on August 12, 2022 at 7:50 am

I just hope the game is without a bunch of SF boneheaded plays,

  3. willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:27 am

Yeah exactly Bozo. Just want to see some good baseball played like in first game W vs. SD.
No illusions, this is team that since going 14-7 in April is 40-50 since.
After stretch vs. under .500 teams like Pirates DBax Rox and Tigers, Giants go right back into fire.
14 games vs. playoff teams Twins Padres Phillies Dogs and Brewers starting Aug 26.

Still can’t get over Timmy marrying his terminally ill gfriend a month before she died. That dude is incredible.

Wonderful thing to do, still a class act.

  5. snarkk said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:26 am

    Feeling it today for Timmy.
    My hat’s off to him…

  6. alleykat69 said, on August 12, 2022 at 10:34 am

Timmy is nothing but class and during this heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’” time for him goes my deepest sympathy for Christin and families! Giants should immediately retire #55! Forever Giant and the utmost respect needs to be done by the organization..RIP Christin ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค

  7. willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 10:44 am

Pirates are dead last in NL for runs hits doubles BA OB Slugging and OPS. They aren’t a speed team, 8th in league with 57 the entire season. 9th in HRs but Suwinski isn’t around to bother Giants either.
Rodon and Webb going tonight and tomorrow Giants should be capable of 2 out of 3 this weekend. Any updates on Bart and his ankle?

  8. Flavor said, on August 12, 2022 at 10:50 am

sounds like he had planned to be here for the 2012 reunion but I’m assuming this terrible news means he won’t be attending now.

  9. blade3colorado said, on August 12, 2022 at 11:07 am

Bozo, when I visited you a few years ago, I recall the wind and surf being unbelievable. The freaking bridge (almost level with the water) leading to your area was especially disconcerting. Anyway, did you read about this lady getting killed by an umbrella at this S. Carolina beach?

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/12/us/south-carolina-beach-umbrella-death/index.html

    • Bozo said, on August 12, 2022 at 6:23 pm

Thanks for the heads up. I’m supposed to be down that way in a couple of weeks.
Right now delayed at DC, hurry up and wait.

  10. willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 1:18 pm

And to pile on yesterday’s lede, how about another day or two of pen rest, and the SPs go 7, 8 or 9? As Baggs said in Athletic yesterday some of these guys are “gassed” and it’s only August with 50 more games left.

  11. alleykat69 said, on August 12, 2022 at 2:26 pm

Have the best 2 pitchers going Rodon &Webb so yeah deep into the game is vital!
Not getting new arms at the deadline are hanging onto Rosenthal&Boyd was just dumb..
Dog days of Summer with a worn out BP will not get the job done getting a W/C spot which is looking bleak at best..

Blade, I think you went over the Alligator river bridge. That is one weird ass draw bridge. Hadn’t read about that SC beach death by umbrella, what a way to go. Headed to Cleveland right now, I’ll check it out when we land in a couple of hours.

    • blade3colorado said, on August 13, 2022 at 6:35 am

I can’t recall it being a draw bridge, but I was so fixated at how close the road way was to the water and with the waves smashing against it, I said, this fucker is going down in a hurricane . . . and now that you mentioned “Alligator” bridge – I do recall you saying that during lunch, which of course made it worse on the return trip. lol

  15. djloo27 said, on August 12, 2022 at 6:13 pm

Zach Wilson may have torn ACL.
    Just speculation.
    Calling Jimmy G?

    • unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 7:08 pm

What’s hysterical is if you follow this shit, there are now about 26 teams in the running to get Jimmy. The Giants are dissatisfied with Jones and Tyrod, the Falcons are not happy with Mariota, Trubiscuit is sucking in Pittsburgh, The Bucs might want insurance for Tom Tom. The Saints with Jameis and Darnold? Please.

Even before the knee injury, Wilson could be looking for a mentor and the team a tackling dummy to absorb the punishment till they build their line.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Not to mention the Browns, Seattle, Houston, and Carolina.

  16. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 6:43 pm

Wating for Jolly Roger to lower the boom on DeShuan (illegal use of hands) Watson. Jimmy is likely headed to the factory of sadness.

Killed by a fucking umbrella? Funny thing is, this is my fate. I’m going to leave this mortal coil in some ludicrous way. I’ve had nothing but ridiculously stupid injuries my entire life. Bit my tongue off playing frisbee by tripping over a curb and landing on my chin with my tongue out (18 stitches to sew it back on) split my eyelid completely open falling on a boulder playing football in a friend’s back yard by landing on the rock with my face. His poor mom passed out when I closed my eye to check the wound out, and my eye reappeared, 5 stitches in my other eye lid leaning back in a chair and falling forward into a glass table.

Real funny thing is, i never broke a bone until I was 14 but I had around 300 stitches.

      Great stuff Chuck! lulz

  19. willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 7:17 pm

Huh Wilmet at 3b with LHP Rodon on mound. Guess we’ll find out if his arm is OK or not.

  24. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 7:55 pm

Fuck. Why don’t we know how to run the bases? WTF is wrong with these guys?

    • unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:00 pm

Tagging on a flyball to left field. Fucking brain dead.

  25. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:10 pm

A risp that doesn’t score? Really? We have to lead the league by 250% in this stat.

    • willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:29 pm

Official scorer gave him rbi on the play where 1b bounced throw home. No error given, 2 rbis for Yaz tonight.
Wynns would have been easy out. Our boy WAR has BA up to .233 now.

  27. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:52 pm

    How many outs, Brandon?

  28. willedav said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:55 pm

    Whoa. How does that happen?

  29. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 8:55 pm

Now Craw gets picked off. What the actual fuck?

  30. djloo27 said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:00 pm

    AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaand…

  31. zumiee said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Belt tagging up on a fly ball with two outs, and Craw getting picked off first base is some classic ’22 Giants.

    • snarkk said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:26 pm

Yeah, that’s something out of ’70s Giants.
Are these dudes paying any attention to this season?…

  32. unca_chuck said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:22 pm

    Zafucky,

  33. snarkk said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:25 pm

That Ruf trade looking a little dicey at the moment…

  34. xoot said, on August 12, 2022 at 9:54 pm

Someone on twitter decoded Kapler’s intro on Szapucki today to mean that they saw him tipping pitches when they faced him, and so lit him up, but slyly figured they could fix that. Makes more sense than the actual reason for taking him, I bet, but I doubt it’s true.

    • xoot said, on August 12, 2022 at 10:05 pm

it was one of the beat writers, btw, who, after listening to Kapler’s opaque discussion directly asked about pitch tipping and described Kapler’s response as evasive.

The pen snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Slush with nice column on Flores, opening with line that Kap is president of Flores fan club, to which he heartily agreed. Takes grounders every day at 1b 2b and 3b. Giants have to re up Wilmet. Lot of negativity from Chron bloggers but all of them like Flores
I think Kap is rolling with 14 position players these days before rosters expand. hmmnn

  41. blade3colorado said, on August 13, 2022 at 6:47 am

Thinking about what Chuck wrote about his accident history and particularly what Xoot said about the fatal accidents he avoided . . . I have 2 off the top of my head – at age 12 or 13, diving in a gully to avoid being hit by a speeding car, while walking in the mountains of Honolulu, Oahu.

Another one was age 22 at Guernsey island in the English Channel on vacation. I fell asleep while sunbathing at a beach, which is only accessible by walking down this steep, rocky, outcropping that’s shaped like a horse shoe. Almost 50 people there before I fell asleep and when the tide came up, just me. lmao . . . Barely made it back up the rock outcropping, with the surf pounding at my heels.
