A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

So You’re Telling Me There’s a Chance….

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 14, 2022

I keep getting tricked into thinking that if we have Webb and Rodon shutting teams down, that’s a pretty good 1-2 punch in the post season. There is, of course, the matter of getting there.

Doval has only allowed runs once in the last 10 games. Again, that’s a pretty good ender to a game.

There’s a whole bunch of stuff that needs to get addressed in betwen Webb/Rodon and Doval at the end but it’s impossible to write this team off this year.

Your sense of what are the positives of the team should have awakened Farhan back in June when things started to sputter to start looking for real offense upgrades to give the playoff competitive pitching a chance to be in a playoff race. But the lack of doing anything significant likely reflects the rest of the league is not that impressed with our prospects.

agreed. To do nothing, one way or the other, was a complete dereliction of his duties

Weird game. Beede wasn’t that bad in his 3 innings but little wild. Wade Jr and Joc went 3-5 with a BB HR and 2 doubles at top of lineup. Entire rest of team 1-24 (double by Wilmet) with 11 Ks. All 4 hits by SF went for extra bases. Wynns still starting, hmmnn. cbs site said Ke’Bryan Hayes has back problems; really wanted to see him.

I.just met up with Pawlie at a coffee shop in Syracuse, a great get-together as always. PK sent Flav a couple pix. I also went to Syracuse Mets Triple AAA game last night, my main takeaway is: Bring on the pitch clock!

Dammit, that was meant for further down.

It’s always good to hope but I have already written em off. However I will still be paying attention to any movement of players. Especially in our minor leagues.

Giants might activate P Zach Littell, not like that’s exciting but compared to that Mets dude Shasucki and his 54.00 era would have to be an upgrade. Guess they couldn’t figure out his tipping pitches either? He can tip all his pitches in Sac hopefully instead!

Bart’s doing 3:4 running second to home, throwing home to second yada yada, maybe goes today? Bart even said the sprained ankle( fouled a pitch off his ankle against Hader)will probably bother him the rest of the year(bad ankle/squatting not good for a catcher) just wondering if the crack medical staff organization should just shut him down?

    Great pic!
3 yrs of Wilmet shouldn’t cost more than 1 of what they are paying Rodon.

Nolan Ryan can sit back in his recliner with a Cuban Cigar, and best bourbon/Scotch of choice🥃 and just laugh at these pussy pitchers who are done after 6-7 innings( and I don’t want to hear about oh the games changed/specialist/$$$ there still pussies compared to the greats of the past, who would just stare down their managers shake their caps and basically say “Don’t u dare take one step out of the dugout! One record I guarantee will never be broken is the Ryan Express Strikeout record of 5,714 along with 7 No Hitters.
Still hard too believe he never won a CY Young?

oy Brebbia aisle disaster. btw saw story on Yahoo said Rosenthal to throw rehab inning Tuesday in minors and could be back to Brewers in 2 weeks.

    • snarkk said, on August 14, 2022 at 3:37 pm

Flemming keeps saying how good Brebbia’s been.
And, every time he says it when I’m listening, Brebbia gets hammered…

I’ll take MacDog and Kokonuts in the Pen — probably better than we’ve got now…

  11. Flavor said, on August 14, 2022 at 3:36 pm

Wtf I walked away for 20 minutes and now we’re losing? How did this happen?

  12. Flavor said, on August 14, 2022 at 3:45 pm

Lol we are so lucky the pirates stink

  13. mrsprtdude said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:27 pm

Defense does us in again. Fuck. Bullpen didn’t help either. Story of our season. For all the dumpster diving FZ does,… why no help for the bullpen if you were going to hold on the Rodon and Joc? A fair question!!!
PS Doval has done well as a closer, but every time he comes in a home game tied in the 9th is it just me or does he suck?

  14. mrsprtdude said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:29 pm

Can we get a walk off??

  15. snarkk said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:30 pm

Takes forever to get a pinch runner for Longo.
    Is this coaching staff asleep?
They should have a guy already stretched and ready in case he gets on.
    WTF?…

    • alleykat69 said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:59 pm

Snarkk I was thinking the same thing wtf ? Typical brain fart by Kapler and coaches, freaking Davis is running down the tunnel trying to get loose as Longoria is stiffing up at first with old body cramps. Totally unprepared for the situation, they should think out what to do first if Longo gets on and have a player earlier ready to run..

And what’s with this stupid medical staff after Joc gets hit on his hand and the trainers taking his sweet ass time and it’s the usual touches his pinky for a second, ahh your good to go huh? Don’t they have a spray they could numb the pain with in their bags, pretty bush league approach imo.

Thank god Thario saved Kapler’s ass with that walk off! Dig walkoffs the ultimate thrill for any hitter!

  16. snarkk said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:32 pm

Thairo takes off, walks off ! …

  17. mrsprtdude said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:33 pm

  18. zumiee said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:37 pm

That was some of last season’s magic. The Giants won a bunch of games like that last season.

  19. Macdog said, on August 14, 2022 at 4:37 pm

    Thairo!
