The Losses Pile Up
I don’t want to talk about that series or the trip to Colorado which will likely be an abject disaster. Instead, let’s take a look at good ol’ James and his wife at the game yesterday.

For reference, here’s a picture of Snarkk and James meeting me (2013) with Kokunuts looking on. I fucking love this picture, lol
Looks like James had some good seats.
Great pix! Those ones from “we score we win” were fantastic. One from First and Main #1 with James SanDog and EWisco in Los Altos too in Bucket. fun times.
Lot of comments from Giants, including Belt and Webb, about how different DBax look from year ago, with slew of young athletic players on field. Even manager acknowledges the sting of getting their asses kicked last year plays into what they’ve been able to do (8-5) vs. SF this season. Honestly, they have more the type of team wish Giants were, or could be soon.
Was there any comment from belt on his dumbass bunt attempt?
Standard bs “We can’t afford to give away series. You saw us win five in a row-that’s what we’re capable of doing…” yada yada. He did go on about bunt though.
“I took the best route that I thought would keep the inning going. I’m not saying I’m right about that but I felt very comfortable bunting. I just didn’t get it down.” from Slush
Longer Belt quote over on mlb.com game story from M Guardado. Admitted he’s been struggling of late and that Gallen had been tough all day.
He looked completely forlorn waiting for his glove to be delivered to him after making the out. The boos from a mellow crowd, blissed out in the 70 degree weather, were startling. You could see he was already dreading the post-game questions. Gabe has modeled the brave defiance in defense of the unorthodox really well.
Looks like the gray has made a lot of progress over the years, but I’ve miraculously reversed the deformed posture. The Flapalooza photo did not capture Flavor reaching out to pet me.
lol
James, your comment is easily top 10 “hahaha” in pantheon of Flap comments, including Looisms. Well done!
Nine straight losses. The last time we sat so close to the field was the game after Buster had his leg broken. The radar guns and their mount in the protective netting is surprisingly annoying and distracting viewed from row 9 directly behind the plate. We did eventually move to better seats.
The DBs have looked good against SF, but unless those speedy youngsters start to hit with a little more pop, they aren’t going to score enough to get much past 500. Kelly and Gallen are very impressive.
Flap format looks very different this morning.
Just me, or is everyone else seeing this?
Me too.
Yep.
I’ve been a Belt supporter (hey hey) for a long time.
The guy is hurt, his knee is clearly messed up, probably a surgery in the off season.
That said, that bunt try yesterday was lame ass in idea, situation and execution, all around. The boos were legit.
His explanation post-game I heard this morning. His heart wasn’t in the explanation, he knew he screwed up and it looked bad. No confidence in himself against good pitching is what I really heard in the explanation. He’s something like 7 for his last 48 with 2 RBIs. That’s in summertime slump Blanco territory. They should just shelve him for another IL stint and go from there…
BTW, smooth, chill Kappler is getting testy.
In response to moderate questioning from Slusser and Pavlovic about not pinch running for LaStella, Kappler got very snippy and condescending, especially to Slusser about it — not actually answering but asking back if he missed something that they hadn’t. Hmmm? Good thing he’s not back in Philly the way this team has been going. It’s not exactly like Slusser and Pavlovic or the rest of the Bay Area baseball media are attack dogs. Maybe Kappler is feeling heat from the front office we don’t know about…
he was a total dick to Sluss, she asked him a normal question. I wish she’d pushed back she cratered and there’s no reason to do that.
Watch _ Facebook
Failed attempt to copy a video I saw on FB. Kap laughing at Belt for bunting in 2018 vs Phils. “your hitting 5th for the Giants. Swing”
Here ya go Dude.
The flap has reverted back to the general presentation and I have no idea why–i pay for the customized version. I’ll check into it but, hey, we’re looking at what? 2 more months? Might just ride it out like this if it’s not an easy fix.
Great photo; lookin’ good, James and wife!
James looking a little grayer, but aren’t we all.
In defense of James’ posture in the earlier photo, that place at the ballpark is a great meeting place but it’s really loud in there. You have to lean in to hear people.
Ha, thanks, I was trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. I slouch a fair bit, but that’s a pretty ridiculous pose I’ve got going there.
Pics at the lede are good.
I’ve still got my “We Score, We Win” shirt.
That was a good day at the ballpark…
Great pic James&wife looking snazzy!
Agree with Flavor that he was being a DICK to Slusser! Liked that she stood in there and grilled his sorry ass when others reporters just curl up in a ball and say nothing. Thought she said ( I might be wrong) did u think about using a pitcher to run for LaStella? Kap probably thought that’s the utmost respect for a position player, but I say screw it LaStella even Longoria can barely run a pitcher couldn’t be any worse, granted u don’t want a Reyes Moronta type, but still a wiry jacked up on adrenaline Alex Wood would do?
Disrespect
The repeated questions about the same type of in game moves that he believes have little bearing on where the Giants are in the standings are undoubtedly making Kapler testy. He probably felt remorse at losing his cool, especially with a female reporter. He knows those questions come with the territory.
No doubt Kap is feeling stress. He knows the history of baseball is littered with managers who won manager of the year and then a couple of years or so later were fired.
But the stress doesn’t excuse rude behavior to reporters. I’ve always hated when managers or coaches did that. Guys like Belichick and Popovich. As if their championships excuse the behavior. It doesn’t.
Add Bill Parcells and John Tortorella to that list.
More bullying than rudeness…
Kapler doesn’t have to look that far, Johnnie B won 3 NL manager of the year awards with SF and took us to game 7 of the WS before he got the boot.
1. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) RF
2. Joc Pederson (L) LF
3. Wilmer Flores (R) 2B
4. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
5. Mike Yastrzemski (L) CF
6. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
7. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
8. Tommy La Stella (L) DH
9. Joey Bart (R) C
P: Alex Wood (L)
B/R list Giants chances of making PS at 3.2% even though they’re only 4 games in the LC behind the Padres who they list at 58.2%.
Any news on Heliot Ramos? Slush said he is supposed to be with team but wasn’t sure if he was activated or part of taxi squad.
yeah, last I saw from Slusser, Ramos apparently IS the taxi squad in Denver right now — working on his swing, trying to be more relaxed (that’s what he and they told her) — and he hasn’t played in a week.
Slusser does a pretty good job on the beat and she’s very well experienced. Kapler won’t intimidate her. He should apologize, like a fucking professional, and move on.
And how the hell did Don Hoak finish 2nd in 1960 NL MVP vote?
How old are you? You were watching games in 1960?
I’m on friggin Medicare…
One way I kill time is to just bounce around B/R.
I invented a game where I think of any random guy who I figure played at least parts of 10 seasons. Then I have to guess the following:
1) Career hits (within 250)
2) Career HRS (within 50)
3) Career BA (within .20)
Over or under is ok – no Price Is Right rules.
You have to get all 3 to “win”…
Hits is the hardest – BA the easiest…
B/R is endless fun for doing stuff like this. 1960s was when I got into baseball and NL was amazing.
DJ, you have so much hair now, what did you look like in your 20s? Zappa-esque?
Kinda, but I always had to cut it for court appearances…
Think you could find box on first game you ever went to? I think mine was vs. Phillies at Stick in early 60s.
Easy…

Was a DH. Tresh hit 3 HRS in game 2 and from both sides of the plate…
Give Drumpf the name of your barber shop so he’s prepared…
wow awesome day to be at yard. Lot of guys I remember from those days.
I think mine was June 18 1960…jogs some memories, Mays throwing out a Phillie named Bobby (Gene) Smith at plate, Sam Jones pitching…
I remember being obsessed with the Ballantine beer vendor who had to open tin cans with an old fashioned can opener. No flip tops or aluminum in those days. Crushing a can one handed was a respected feat of strength. I sure as hell couldn’t do it…
You nailed it…

Not that this has been a tough task of late, but Gausman has completely shut down the Yanks thru 7 so far.
He’s 8-9?
Yeah, with a 2.99 ERA. Now 3 outs away from 9-9 if Jays ‘pen doesn’t blow it.
Maybe Belt should have tried bunting there?
He might be hesitant to attempt a bunt at Coors.
We’re going down in flames yet again. Old and tired.
Fer kreissakes, friggin’ Connor Joe homered?
Oy….
Close.
NY radio clowns continue to put SF at the top of Aaron Judge’s potential landing spots…
Yep, we’ll be in the market for an oft-injured 1st baseman next season.
Actually, fuck it. Get him. We need someone that isn’t among this current crop of old guys and AAAA rejects.
The Bore Sore Core is now the Snore Core.
Ho hum. We struggle to almost get one run in, and badda bing badda boom. 7-0.
but it’s still early and it’s coors field — Giants may score, yet.
I just heard that Ozuna got popped for DUI earlier this morning. Wtf? Don’t these rich guys have cell phones and drivers?
hAH! A run! 2 months later!
We’re coming back.
Joc with the opposite dinger.
The good news: A Joc bomb!
The bad news: Uhhh …
When are they gonna sit Belt? He’s barely walking.
Thanks for box score on my first Giants game (age 8 at time in 1960) Loo. I can recall watching Cuban winter league games on TV and I remembered 3 of the Phiis I’d seen play in that game, Tony Gonzalez (cool player) Tony Taylor and big power hitting 1b Pancho Herrera. I looked up Gonzalez and Taylor on B/R and they both died within last 2 years at age 84.
Alvin Dark at 3B for Phils???
The underground attack.
Giants make another PÓS pitcher into Cy Young! This bum Urweine was 1-4 an ERA at close to 5.00, as many walks 26 as K’s 27 in freaking 50 innings.God the Giants stink!
Joc is tying run right here.
Hey! A pulse!
the Giants this year, say the tv feeders, have had far more ABs with the bases loaded than any other team — 25 more than whoever was second. Yeah, I can see that. The ancillary stats must be depressing. But Baggs says Luciano just launched a towering grand slam in Eugene.
How do you not try and sign Wilmer next year?
Life support as the morphine drip allows the pulse.
MR.ED crushed a loud leadoff Double!
And now Belt does shit again..0 for Belt again! No bunt lol..
YAZ joins the bunt attack all of a foot!
The inning turns into a steaming pile of shit after Mr.ED’s leadoff double..
Ball 4, strike 3.
Yeesh.
