A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Another Loss And A Weird Thing Happened

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 20, 2022

First games at Coors can always be tough. Everyone needs to get used to the elements. But that doesn’t explain the previous 2 games. Or this entire season.

I contacted wordpress about why the site has defaulted back to it’s original settings and no one got back to me. As the Flap heads into its final days it’s kinda creepy that this has happened on its own. It’s full circle shit.

“or the entire season”, ha good one. And that’s the way it’s been, up/down. Momentum off 5th straight W on Craw walk off bomb? um, not at all, 3 more losses to under .500 teams, the ones they are still ahead of in NL West.

  2. willedav said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:58 am

Good to see Gausman do well in August and shut down Yanks.
In LA last night Okert got a blown save in game Marlins eventually lost. Just not a guy who deserved to be in Giants uni very long.
Looking at who started last night (without Slater Thairo J D) i see lot of guys I can say same thing about.

  3. Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:54 am

Maybe they should play the rest of the season wearing those creamsicle unis.

Not sure I mentioned this before (or if anyone really cares ) but I am not playing NL only fantasy baseball this year for the 1st time in 30 seasons. 2 players in my league passed away and the rest of us wanted / needed a break. Anyway this explains why I haven’t been paying attention to Paul Goldschmidt.
No I never really liked this guy, but since AZ always sucked I never built up to much animus. Now I love baseball history and today reading the sports section I see in the league leaders that he is 1st in BA by a lot (.330 – .321 for Freeman )
    2nd RBI behind Alonzo
3rd HR behind Schwarber and Riley
    2nd in runs behind Betts
3rd in hits behind Freeman and T Turner

The deficits are small and it made me wonder has a triple crown winner ever also led in hits and doubles? I’m not that into stats enough to research, but since St Louis is making the playoffs anyway if they pound on the Brewers (which we want) I’m hoping Goldy gets it done!
    Go Giants!

    • Macdog said, on August 20, 2022 at 9:59 am

There have been 5 players who won the Triple Crown and also led in hits and doubles: Joe Medwick, Cards, 1937; Chuck Klein, Phillies, 1933; Rogers Hornsby, Cards, 1922; Heinie Zimmerman, Cubs, 1912; Nap Lajoie, Phila. A’s, 1901.

PS I still root for Kevin Gausman. Teams need pitching. Stats say he was very good and getting better the year before he was on SF. He was good for us too. NO I didn’t advocate Giants sign him to big money so no revisionist history from me, but maybe the brass should have known more info then us? We still need pitching. From an injury risk it would have been a lot safer signing Guasman then it will be to sign Rodon (who i also like ).. Just a few thoughts to distract me from how much we suck!

PPS After 2.5 years of treating patients luck caught me and I got Covid. I have asthma so it messed me up and I have been coughing up a lung, but getting better now. Hoping the wife doesn’t get it. Hope you all are well..

    • Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 9:45 am

Hope you only have a mild case, Dude. I tested positive for my first time last Thursday. I just returned from a trip to Cleveland and was a bit cavalier (pun intended) with wearing a mask on the trip. Luckly I only have flu like symptoms. Take care.

    • blade3colorado said, on August 20, 2022 at 9:58 am

I hope both of you guys get well. My daughter just started school two weeks ago (kindergarten) and I physically go into and out of the classroom each day to drop/pick her up . . . I was exposed to something last week, that caused a sore throat and runny nose. Consequently, not knowing if it was a cold or COVID-19 (I hadn’t been sick in 3 plus years), I decided to use a few of these Medicare COVID-19 test kits I previously had sent to me to find out. Fast forward 4 tests later (2 on each day), I was negative for COVID, so I guess I only had a cold. Today, was the first day I have felt 100%.

Again, get well SDude and John!

  7. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 11:08 am

Glad it’s only mild John (Bozo?). Funny after 13 seasons on the Flap only Craig and Pete (Sandog) are guys I know names!
Thanks macdog for looking that up. Some old time HOF legends in that group. To see someone do it for the 1st time in 85 years would be cool. I admire Goldschmidt because he isn’t gifted with being a tremendous athlete, just a great ballplayer.

    • willedav said, on August 20, 2022 at 12:33 pm

yeah even when he tortured SF, admired the guy as solid all around ballplayer.
Hope you and Bozo recover and get back into swing of things.

  8. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 11:09 am

    And thanks Blade!

  9. Winder said, on August 20, 2022 at 12:35 pm

Good luck to all that tested positive. I had it in Jan. 2020 and the cough was dry and painful, it lasted for a good 4 weeks. I never was able to cough any flem or whatever up. Over the last couple of years every time I coughed it was still dry and about a week ago without feeling sick at all I started coughing some stuff up and I think it has taken me this long to finally start cleaning out my lungs.

    • blade3colorado said, on August 20, 2022 at 5:10 pm

Amazing symptoms and more amazing recovery. I have had a couple of close friends die from this and many others, including my daughter and ex wife get COVID-19. I think living in the mountains, isolated from just about everyone is key to why I have not gotten sick.

his knee’s in bad shape; tough to bend down for those bunts

  11. Flavor said, on August 20, 2022 at 2:56 pm

    i don’t know how I haven’t ever had covid but I haven’t.

    • Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 4:09 pm

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about myself. So, I got kinda lax. Anyway, for me this has been 4 days of flu like symptoms and just being really tired, but right now I’m feeling pretty good but bored, plan on taking another test tomorrow.

  12. zumiee said, on August 20, 2022 at 4:45 pm

I recently got my 5th Covid shot. Boosters can be gotten 4 months apart now.

  13. Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 4:47 pm

Aubrey Huff running for a school board position in Solana County? Damn, you just can’t make this shit up.

    • zumiee said, on August 20, 2022 at 5:01 pm

That dude seriously needs to get a hobby.

  14. alleykat69 said, on August 20, 2022 at 4:57 pm

Hell I’ve never had COVID and only got the 2 shots plus 1 booster.I don’t wear a mask at all anymore even at Costco. Then again I never get sick, just the occasional hangover..

Flavor? Just wondering aren’t u alittle over paranoid on how many COVID tests you mentioned that u have taken? Almost like u expect to get it?

    • Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 6:03 pm

I was the same Kat, 2 Phiser shots and the booster. Took a trip to New Orleans in the Spring for a huge festival, I might have worn a mask on the plane, but rarely anywhere else and I was good when I got back, Last weekend was a quick trip to Cleveland and I didn’t wear a mask during the trip, my wife wore a mask on the plane and at the Rock & Roll Hall, I tested positive, and she has tested negative. Good news for me is I’m feeling good right now and I believe the vaccine has a lot to do with that.

  15. Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 6:38 pm

    Bart train outta there.

    • willedav said, on August 20, 2022 at 6:54 pm

      That one was long distance.
so why is he still batting 9th?

      • Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:04 pm

        Great question.

  16. alleykat69 said, on August 20, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Hope you start feeling better Bozo same with you Sportsdude!
Yeah I guess I’m alittle cavilar over this whole 2 year covid process.I probably would wear a mask on a plane are like Sportsdude with constant patients in close quarters.
Interesting your wife didn’t ketch it Bozo, but sounds like she was doing her due diligence wearing one.But I do agree atleast the first 3 shots (I had Moderna) seemed to work fine. But then again my daughter &son both got covid and they constantly would check on me, how you doing? Cause we had some close contact, I just said all good in the hood, no worries..

    • Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:07 pm

Cool, buddy. Hope you ya stay on the negative side of it.

  17. Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:04 pm

    Craw ties it up.

  18. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:42 pm

Yaz is hitting about .157 since June 1. 2 1/2+ months. That is unbelievably poor…

    • alleykat69 said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:59 pm

Belt like 2-37 yet he still is out there on one leg.

  19. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 7:52 pm

Craw with the Clutch to tie !! …

  20. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:00 pm

A few days ago i mentioned how every series has a close game. This is that game. A must win!

  21. alleykat69 said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:02 pm

No reason at all looking at these guys batting averages that Bart should move up to 5-6 in order ..

  22. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:03 pm

Re Covid..I wear a mask at work with patients. Vaccinated and 1 booster. I have traveled and don’t wear a mask anywhere else (pre having it and now I’m not leaving the house). I choose to vaccinate and live my life. My choice. Don’t know how I got it. Don’t care:)

  23. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:04 pm

Yaz is a 4th outfielder. When will SF realize it?

    • snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:06 pm

Yaz is hitting .157 since June 1.
      That’s not a typo…

  24. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:07 pm

Belt is pretty darn near useless at the plate right now…

    • Flavor said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:08 pm

      Useless

      • snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:09 pm

Couldn’t even pull the ball to 1st base side to move up Estrada…

  25. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:08 pm

Are the Gyros going to leave the ghost at 2nd, as usual?

  26. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:13 pm

Gawd, this team is lameass. It’s as if their own ghost runner scares them into complete uselessness at the plate.
If I had to keep players for next year, it’d be Bart, Webb, Cobb, Estrada, Davis, Dovall and that’s it…

  27. snarkk said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:20 pm

    And, Phtttttttttttt.
    Who didn’t see that coming?
They got shut down offensively, again, this time for most of the game by a dude who the league has pummeled.
Sweep highly likely tomorrow. This squad is hitting like limp linguini. They need a cattle prod to get up and play with some energy…

  28. Bozo said, on August 20, 2022 at 8:21 pm

    Crap.

  29. mrsprtdude said, on August 20, 2022 at 9:05 pm

    FUCK!!!

  30. willedav said, on August 21, 2022 at 7:36 am

Looked up Giants record vs. NL West for 2022:
    6-5 vs. Rox
    5-8 vs. AZ and SD
    3-10 vs. LA
    19-31 overall, yikes.

    • Macdog said, on August 21, 2022 at 8:02 am

Maybe next year’s reduced schedule within the division won’t be a bad thing.
