A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Losses Piling Up On Top Of Losses

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 31, 2022

Well, at least Joc has gotten it going a little bit of late. The rest of this offense is just an embarrassment. Remember when Yaz was this crowning coup of a pick up? His last two full seasons, 800+ at bats, he’s been absolute crap. Who cares how much control you have of something if you’re controlling crap?

Final Flapalooza is a good idea but I just don’t see it happening. I can’t even get my shit together to take advantage of Marty’s OJ dinner. Told him I’ve got to push it out to at least mid October. He said “whenever is fine.”

So let’s see if something changes but right now I don’t have a weekend day that will work for the rest of this season.

42 HRs hit last night altogether. DBax climb into tie for 3rd, smoking phils again 12-3 behind 7 shutout innings from Zac Gallen and 17 hits from offense. Phils will be here this weekend.

Would Z ever get to point he’d fire Kap? Giants on pace to lose 25% off product from year before and drop from top of NL to 8th/9th. Not going to go unnoticed. Heads have rolled for less.

One more year for Kap but mentally I was not that enamored with him when they signed him or how he managed the end of Game 5 against the Flodgers. He deserves another year I think. I know there is mixed Flax feelings about Joe Maddon, but maybe he is a better long-term option…

How was the Oregon golfing and your game???? My golf has been so inconsistent this year. Back issues but may be all the lack of any exercise causing the back issues. Plus I almost passed out with high 80s humidity this weekend. That does not help. My solution: play from the white tees instead of the further back blues and make myself feel better…

I just realized I prob did not tel the Flap about this kid college golfer from our club. Going into his senior year at Christopher Newport University in Virginia and went to a local rival high school near us and competed couple weeks ago in the US Amateurs and after making the cut, beat the defending US Juniors champ (interestingly a kid from China) in opening match play and then got to the Final 8 where he was down 4 on the front 9 came charging back to get to a stroke behind heading to the 17th and apparently had been dealing with his own back issue and hit drive into the rough right and then rough left so it did not let him keep it close for a decent par putt shot.

His opponent was just short on his approach and chipped up within a couple of feet for a par putt. Once our guy missed, he conceded. I have been on the course with him and let him play through on a long par three that probably plays 210-220 from the championship tees and he stuck it about six feet from the cup. Quite impressive but he did miss the birdie putt but
I will give him an out because they have kept the greens long wet than they should be to avoid burnout so does not play true when cut tight.

His amateurs opponent ended up finishing second losing on the last hole of the 36 hole champ round.

Noticed Giants released Ken Giles and Baggs said it was so he could possibly wind up on a contender, and Baggs wondered why SF didn’t do that for Joc, who is now stuck with them for rest of season. Would have freed up spot on 40 man too and given Pederson a chance to wind up with playoff team and keep his streak going. definitely a hmmnn

    • zumiee said, on August 31, 2022 at 8:27 am

I have no memory of Giles even being a Giant.

      • willedav said, on August 31, 2022 at 9:21 am

He was not activated but rehabbing in minors I think Zum.

  5. zumiee said, on August 31, 2022 at 8:31 am

Gotta appreciate all the Giants broadcasters trying to pump up hope for the fans for this season.
The ’22 Giants are not quite yet into “stick a fork in them, they’re done” status, but they’re pretty close.

Is there a Flapper out there willing to step up and host a version of the Flap on WordPress, on into the future? I’d volunteer, but I live out in the country with shaky internet.

      Chuck’s blog ain’t going anywhere

  7. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 9:22 am

You really going full dark zero on October 5th? Or will there be a gradual fade?

  8. Bozo said, on August 31, 2022 at 9:56 am

With the end of the Flap, I’ll be retiring the Bozo moniker. Been wanting to do it for a while but I’m a lazy ass clown and now will be the perfect time.

Safe move for both Snarkk and Unca, hopefully both moves are uneventful for youse guys. I agree with Snarkk about paring down as much as you can. When my ex-wife and I got divorced and sold our 3 bedroom house with a full basement out in Sunnyside, I rented a 1 bedroom on Pot Hill, so I had to get rid of a bunch of shit, which in turn made it easier when I moved the 3,000 miles to NC. I still had more to get rid of, but it was a bit less daunting. Now, I’ve started the process again, getting rid of more books (tough to do), LPs (less tough, but where do they go?), photos (digitize some and toss the rest) and my baseball cards.

Why spoil a Flapalooza by going to a Giant game?

    • Bozo said, on August 31, 2022 at 10:26 am

      Post of the year!

    • willedav said, on August 31, 2022 at 12:14 pm

lulz. those first couple were at sports bar in separate room with game on, fun times.

  10. snarkk said, on August 31, 2022 at 10:57 am

Belt recommended by 2 medicos to have knee surgery, per radio reports.
That was predictable, as I said before you don’t have a knee drained without something very uncool going on in there. He’s almost certainly done for the year and likely done as a Giant. Sad in many ways, but time and age marches on…

  11. willedav said, on August 31, 2022 at 12:38 pm

Baggs says Yermin back to Sac and Andrew Knapp up as backup C. And wearing Rowand’s old #33, as befits ex Phillie.

    • snarkk said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:01 pm

At this point, it’s just changing the deck chairs.
This team is going nowhere. I would not be surprised if the Dbacks pass them by end of season…

      • Macdog said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:17 pm

D-Backs might pass them by the end of the day.

  12. willedav said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:15 pm

It’s actually a better lineup with Davis in and Crawford out. K n K need to give it a rest.

    • willedav said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:27 pm

effing nonsense anyone comes to yard to watch 2022 version of Crawford.

  13. zumiee said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:30 pm

I wonder if Craw got injured in the off-season. A person can get injured just moving stuff in a garage.

    • djloo27 said, on August 31, 2022 at 1:34 pm

I got injured a few weeks ago putting on my pants standing up…

  14. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:25 pm

    Crawfish got fat.

  15. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:28 pm

We got 6 games on the Rockpile for last in the West. They are 5-5 recently.

  16. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:30 pm

Slater should be wearing 2 of those oven mitts.

  17. Flavor said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:37 pm

regarding the last day here, I will play that by ear. Probably when the world series ends unless LA wins it all then I’ll go a few more days. I’m not having those fuckers think for a second that they took down the Flap.

    • unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 5:57 pm

Hah!! don’t worry, dogs will choke.

  18. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:40 pm

    3 fastballs 3 strikes. No e

  19. unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 3:59 pm

Oh boy. Fall behind and never catch up is the way of the Giants.

  20. xoot said, on August 31, 2022 at 4:17 pm

I just spent an early afternoon drinking beer and watching a Giants game. What a dumb fucking move. Right now, I feel like I may never do that again.

    • unca_chuck said, on August 31, 2022 at 5:57 pm

      Football season is nigh . . .

      • djloo27 said, on August 31, 2022 at 6:15 pm

Thursday night football exclusively on Amazon Prime except for the season
opener and Thanksgiving. Not even on NFL Network.
They should really go fuck themselves…

  21. Winder said, on August 31, 2022 at 4:23 pm

Yeah, disgust is not a pleasant feeling. Thank God for the beer.

  22. djloo27 said, on August 31, 2022 at 5:55 pm

Mets Nimmo robs J. Turner of HR.
    Awesome catch…

  23. Winder said, on August 31, 2022 at 6:18 pm

It’s been that kind of season. Funny but I still like this song I wish I could have seen one of his shows.

“Why spoil a Flapalooza by going to a Giant game?” True, could be anytime, any place. After more than 3 years not being able to get back to the US, I’m aiming for November. Would be in NJ and out west. Possibilities for a ‘Looza, mini or otherwise….

Better draft picks if we get passed:) Never thought I’d be typing that last April:(
