A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

It’s wild to think we can be 30 GB the Dodgers and still STILL have a shot at the post season. 5.5 back with 6 to play. I’m assuming Milw and Philly would have to lose their remaining games and we’d have to win out but I don’t know that for sure and I’m not checking on it.

Gonna be out of town this weekend, I’ll probably manage daily threads but if not now you know why.

Dodgers won number 107 last night. Now that’s a team that is a genuine powerhouse. I will live the rest of my life not understanding how we won 107 last year. I hope Farhan has learned something. I guess he was in a bad spot with Belt and Craw and they had to be re-signed but to just continue his dumpster diving ways and do nothing else is going to be really hard to watch going forward. Even if I don’t have to write about it anymore.

I thought this was a cool tweet that some of the oldies at the blog would appreciate.

Not that this matters to us, but it is odd that there is only 1 divisional race remaining with a week to go in the season. I wonder how much that has to do with teams waving the white flag early on trying to win their division and just shooting for the easy to make wild card?

For the record, we still aren’t elimated from the final spot. Win out and put ALL the pressure on those in front of us! MUHUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

After a day to chill I’ve softened a bit on my Jimmy G stance. He is who he is. I am not over or underwhelmed with him. I am *properlywhelmed*. We are lucky to have him as opposed to some no-name back up with no experience and no talent.

Jimmy is pretty dim and if he doesn’t get the ball out immediately the play is probably fucked. But he can do some things.

The bigger issue to me is why Deebo, Kittle and Aiyuk are never open. Why can’t the Great Genius Shanny get these guys open? And Deebo in the backfield is as played out as burnt toast. Every time he’s back there he gets the ball. Think that’s a tell to the defense?

2:06 left. First down. Three timeouts left. All the time in the world to move 20 yards or so and kick a game winning field goal to send Russell Wilson back to Corny Town or wherever the fuck that loser is from.

What does Jimmy do? With all that in his favor he throws a PRAYER into blanket double coverage.

That was the dumbest thing I have ever seen that motherfucker do and he does at least 3 of the dumbest things I have ever seen in my life every single game he plays.

That one hurt. All the horrible feels of a Jimmy G start came back like a tsunami running me down in an Indonesian town. Jimmy G may not be the worst but he is most definitely the dumbest.

Pretty stoked for the Niner game today. Denver has eclipsed Cleveland as my most hated sports town with the addition of Russell Wilson to the Broncos. For both of those cities it’s really more the fans I despise but all those years of Wilson ruining my Sunday’s at the last second has vaulted Denver to the top.

I was surprised to see Yaz has 15 home runs. His season has not felt that productive.

Doval threw a ball 104 last night. I don’t care if it wasn’t a strike, that’s sickening. You can sacrifice a little location when you throw fire like that.

Congrats to Pujols on 700. I vividly remember scooping him up off the waiver wire back in 2001 when I still played year-long fantasy and he carried my team to a glorious season victory.

Rodon has been brilliant this year. He leads the league in FIP which both shows how much value he had at the break AND is a great reason to resign him in the off season. Still, he’ll be 30 next year. That could be a tough contract to swallow.

It’ll be interesting to see how he’s used in these last 3 starts. Do they limit him as they did Webb because they think they’re getting him back or do they push him to his pitch limit and possibly beyond? Could be a tell either way.

The GREAT TedSpe showed up last night, presumably to say goodbye to this place. Besides being a Flap HOFer he’s one of the guys who saved the Flap 10 years ago from being torched with his heartfelt posts. He’s got some epic POTD’s in the Flap HOF

Buster Posey has joined the ownership group. Mr. SD speculated he bought 3% my guess is that was closer to 1%. To me this is a straight PR move but there’s certainly nothing wrong with having Buster associated with the team.

Kudos to all of you who are still watching the games, that really impresses me.

Got a win yesterday courtesy of all our aged and boring players. The new guys, man, what can you say about them? Hjelle has given up 25 hits in his last 4 appearances. Some how 3 of those 4 were relief appearances. That is….astounding. He’s supposed to be one of our hot prospects…..

Matt Duffy hit a home run yesterday for the Angels. MATT DUFFY. It’s amazing to me that dude is still around in some capacity. Slow, weak and injured his entire career but he’s got longevity on his side for sure.

I know this isn’t a big deal. In the scheme of things there are other things to focus on. I get that he’s only had 2 hits in 20 at bats this season. He looks like probably a misfire of a prospect, at best he needs more time down below. But I do not get, on any level, why you send Heliot Ramos back down in a lost September just to bring Austin Slater back from the DL.

What. Is. The. Point.

I’m just totally bummed about this Trey thing. Watching him this year was like the ONE thing I was looking forward to in terms of the NFL. Yeah, sure, I love the Niners but I am a firm believer that Jimmy’s best days are behind him. He’s ok. He’s better than what we were going to have backing up Trey and that’s why I supported the signing. But he’s impossibly boring and infuriating to watch.

My interest in this season going forward is pretty minimal. I guess if they keep winning that will fix my mood but I personally hate watching Garrapolo play (love his professional team first attitude, though).

Yeah, this just sucks. And I 100% blame Shanahan for this.

Normally the Dodgers using us as a tune up for the post season, and still beating us quite easily I might add, would irritate me. But not today, gents. Today is for football. It’s raining outside. In September. This is very weird. Anyway, much like this early rain I can’t remember an earlier must win game in a season than this one. I am definitely AGAINST the idea of benching Trey if they lose this game but the vibes are out there. He’s gotta win or else. High drama in rainy Santa Clara today……..

If we win out we get to 87 wins. That still likely doesn’t get us in. So, it’s September 17th and I shall now declare the dream dead.

The Dodgers are +323 run diff this season. That is insane, I wonder what the record is?

LA this weekend, sans the pomp and circumstance of a September race. They clinched the division in, like, August I think. That’s hilarious and sad at the same time. Decent chance they are going to have a very hard time getting sharp come playoff time.

I’m not sweatin’ that Niner loss. Way too many variables stacked against Trey, he has to get better from that.

Had a fabulous time golfing with these gents yesterday. Heard the Giants won a game finally. And today the 49ers begin their march towards their 6th trophy.

Playing Stanford today, gentlemen. Very excited. Hoping the Giants improve on the 3 hits they got yesterday vs their old *pal* Drew Smyly. Come to think of it I’d be happy with as many 3’s today as I can muster.

18 innings. Seven hits. Seriously, if any of you watched all 18 of those innings more power to you. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has watched every inning this season. There has to be, right? I’m talking about someone who never missed an inning because of a bathroom run, someone that has Apple+ tv or whatever it’s called, I’m talking about every goddamn inning.

I can’t even imagine what that would have been like…

The Giants are playing in Milwaukee. That’s about all I have to say about that…..

NFL is back, baby! I’m into it mostly for the draftkings games but the Niners seem to have a legit shot, at least that’s what everyone keeps saying.

Ouch. Post season chances took a big hit last night. Plummeted from 1.1% back to 0.6%. Starting to feel a slight sting. That’s pride fucking with me. Some say pride only hurts it never helps. Fuck that. Play for pride. It’s about all we got left….

The article I read online this morning began “With nothing left but pride to play for, the Giants defeated the Dodgers…..”
Hey, whoa, wait one godamn minute! A quick check of the standings show that our post season chances jumped from 0.6% to 1.1% with that great victory at The Latrine.

If we win out I’d like to fucking see them try to keep us out of the post season.

So, win out. Why not?

Well, that is a lot of games to win. Win as many as you can.

With all the hoopla surrounding Flightline’s astounding victory I haven’t given enough credit to the Giants for their nifty little 3 game sweep of a pretty good team. Our chances of making the post season have now soared to 0.6%. Starting to get a little excited? Feeling anything down in your plums? I’m talkin’ bout all the way down in yer plums….

Let’s take this wonderful fortuna and continue to spin it upward in LA where our march towards .500 continues on….

I’m not sure how many times I’ve watched yesterday’s Pacific Classic. At least 25. Those weren’t some chump horses he demolished those were Grade 1 champions themselves. Even if you don’t like horse racing you know how to appreciate true greatness. I haven’t seen anything like this since what Secretariat did in the Belmont lo those many years ago.

Agree with Loo, Trevor’s “Let’s see” stuff was tired. Just as he is. Trevor Denman in his prime was one of the best ever but that time has passed. Would love to have heard Larry Colmus on that call….

There is so much hype surrounding the 49ers upcoming season the Giants have become an absolute afterthought in these parts. I just drove to work and all the morning show guys were talking about college football and this media-invented riff between Jimmy Fabulous and Trey Area. There isn’t anything there. Niners are in a great QB situation this year. I wish they would always go into a season with a competent back up.

Philly in town. Apple tv+? WTF is that?

Thank God we held on to Rodon for this I can’t imagine how difficult it would be without him.

Also, we are now tied with the lowly D-backs for 4th place. We might have tied them a day or so ago, I wasn’t paying attention.

We had hoped for better in this final year of The Flap but it was not to be….

At least we still have Rodon.
