A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Speechless

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 4, 2022

I’m not sure how many times I’ve watched yesterday’s Pacific Classic. At least 25. Those weren’t some chump horses he demolished those were Grade 1 champions themselves. Even if you don’t like horse racing you know how to appreciate true greatness. I haven’t seen anything like this since what Secretariat did in the Belmont lo those many years ago.

Agree with Loo, Trevor’s “Let’s see” stuff was tired. Just as he is. Trevor Denman in his prime was one of the best ever but that time has passed. Would love to have heard Larry Colmus on that call….

Prat swoops into town for a day and wins 4 races on the card. He won last one by a nose with head bob at the wire, beating favored Mike McCarthy horse ridden by Abel Cedillo. He always seemed to do that at Santa Anita, get his horse into winner circle at the end of stretch duel. Flightline just blew everyone away.

i hit the late p3 and p4 with that horse but I also had the 1 (who paid 3X as much) and when Johnny V got thru that hole on the rail I was a singin’ and a dancin’! But, the other 2 slid by in last stride or two and that’s ok, they were coming home faster—1 horse wasn’t quite good enough

I guess there was no drafting in that race. Oh my.

  3. djloo27 said, on September 4, 2022 at 7:38 am

Flightline simply magnificent. The acceleration and widening was definitely reminiscent of Big Red’s Belmont but I find comparing eras almost impossible.
    The coverage was flat awful.
Only fractions I saw posted were for 6 furlongs and they didn’t do that until the EIGHTH POLE! Terrible usage of jockey cam at the break. And then I guess they forgot about it.
Would’ve been cool to see Prat’s perspective at some point when he was opening all that daylight.
Trevor used to save “Let’s see” for when he was looking for a closer like Zenyatta or Gio Ponti in a big field. It’s sad to listen to him now – he was once as good as it gets…

    • Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 7:45 am

i couldn’t BELIEVE they didn’t use jockey cam after gates opened. WTF?

    • Macdog said, on September 4, 2022 at 8:48 am

I counted two “Let’s see” ‘s in that call.

Feel good game for Kap. Started LHs Wade Yaz Gonzalez and then hit for them with Flores Brinson Longoria. Davis hit for Knapp, he slid Slater into LF (where he made nice running grab) and his pen hung on for 3 1/3 scoreless innings. Doval did seal deal with 4 out save, 0 baserunners and 2 Ks so that is doable in short term.
Giants have 8 games in next 7 days and at least one pen game Kap has to manage. On day when there with college football on all day plus horse racing, Giants were at least interesting.

      Don’t forget the US Open.

      • willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 9:51 am

yeah lot more interesting minus endless Serena montages.

Haven’t checked in in awhile, been on a vacation run up to Reno visiting my sister. Was going to go to the chili/rib cook off but it’s too damm hot 🥵 up here 102 very freaking day and it’s on concrete basically which would make it feel like 120.Did go see Top Gun highly recommend it.And it was only 3bucks ! Don’t know if any of u knew about this National Cinema Day( It was Saturday only)where any movie any theater any top of the line screen setup all $3 all day!
Going to still hit up some casinos for the air conditioning and gambling later .Now just chillin out.Enjoy the holiday everyone..

Shit didn’t even know Bart wasn’t playing? Saw some box’s score with a guy named Knapp?and Brinson? more dumpster diving again?

Funny that horse race 🏇🏻 Flight line just lollygaggin along then starts pulling away tail on fire as the 2nd closest horse starts going into reverse back to the pack with the other also-rans lol 😂

Thanks for the video, that was something.

  7. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 9:58 am

Flavor nice going. Last race was really close one. Velasquez had 2 winners himself.
Btw did you see clip from couple days ago with Gabby (supposedly “reporting”) in Turf Club and someone off camera hands her a glass of champagne? wtf?
Then later she is talking with 2 other well dressed (and probably half drunk) women about who they like in a race/how they are doing on the day.
She was actually pretty well dressed herself yesterday though she adds nothing to broadcasts.

    • Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 11:19 am

Gabby is lame. Britney and to a lesser extent Andie B are where it’s at.

      • djloo27 said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:29 pm

Another one who loves to start interviews with “Talk about”…

  8. Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 11:21 am

Mac you gave me a reason to watch it again, thanks. Three “let’s sees”

  9. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 1:41 pm

Kap’s kinda stuck with Slater out, but Wade Jr. coming in was 2-22 vs. LHP this year and iirc had same problem last year. Brisbee in Athletic talked up chances Giants bring back Joc and Yaz next year and they rep more of the same–platoon hitters better suited to hit off RHP. yikes

  10. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 1:50 pm

Wilmet almost homered earlier, but since Giants have lot of groundouts off this guy.

    • willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 1:53 pm

Flores double high off the wall, 3 Ks and 6 ground ball outs in 3 innings.

  11. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 2:20 pm

Helluva 10 pitch AB from WAR there, ending with rbi single to RF. Giants made Suarez throw 35 pitches that inning to give Rodon 3-0 lead. Wade Jr with rbi single past SS off lefty.

  12. Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 2:47 pm

loo– here’s the jockey cam they start playing it a couple of min in. I love Prat looking back in the stretch quickly, seeing nothing, he just keeps going. So rad.

  13. Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 2:52 pm

scratch that here’s a better one with sound

    • djloo27 said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:32 pm

Can only imagine what that feels like…

  14. xoot said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:13 pm

Rodon is so very good. Must be broiling down on the field today. I know the flags up top are flapping a bit, but every player is sweating. Rodon pitched through hell in the 6th and came out unscathed.

I’ve got 93 outdoors, 83 inside — with just a breath of bay breeze. Fuck AC. We don’t need no AC.

  15. Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:15 pm

guess Casali forgot about this guy

  16. Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:16 pm

weather is disgusting today. 88 here. Yeah, no humidity you east coast fucks. So we’re weather pussies, so sue us

  17. Macdog said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:18 pm

You’re right Flav, there’s 3 “Let’s see” ‘s, missed the early one about :30 in.

    • Flavor said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:31 pm

i had watched that video 30+ times so when you said 2, and I hadn’t been counting them, I had to go back and check. It’s too bad, TD was once my favorite race caller but he’s well passed those days now. He has a ranch in Montana I think, he only comes to Del Mar for a few weeks a year but I think it’s time for him to just stay at the ranch.

  18. xoot said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:45 pm

Our LF’s never gonna earn the name Gonzo & Brebbia should shave today, so he’s not immediately recognizable on the street.

  19. Macdog said, on September 4, 2022 at 3:47 pm

More spillage in the Brebbia aisle.

  20. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 4:08 pm

Doval right back out there after 4 out save yesterday, good for him.

  21. willedav said, on September 4, 2022 at 4:10 pm

Every once in a while we get a repeat of last season’s magic.

  28. zumiee said, on September 4, 2022 at 6:59 pm

The weather is going to hit 110+ degrees in the Central Valley this week. Yikes. All the guys called up from the Sac River Cats in the last week have to be thrilled about their escape.
