A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Boredom in Milwaukee

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 9, 2022

18 innings. Seven hits. Seriously, if any of you watched all 18 of those innings more power to you. I wonder if there is anyone out there who has watched every inning this season. There has to be, right? I’m talking about someone who never missed an inning because of a bathroom run, someone that has Apple+ tv or whatever it’s called, I’m talking about every goddamn inning.

I can’t even imagine what that would have been like…

Every inning? I doubt even anyone on the team has watched every inning. Well, maybe the video person because that is their job, nah, even that person switched over to reruns of Manix at some point.

Somehow they’re still averaging almost 31,000 a game (only 1,500 p/g less than the Mets) who you would think are packing the joint every night.
Is that tickets sold or live people?
From what I can tell the SF crowds are into the game pretty much and ready to cheer for the home team.
    Those are good fans.
The product on the field is mostly dreary…

Tickets sold. They don;t do butts in seats anymore. It would be embarrassing.

Flav, this guy was watching . . . but the warden made him watch.

Thanks for the thoughts regarding the fire AK, Bozo and Willie . . . No where near us though, albeit, it was having an effect on air quality. A double whammy due to the 100 plus temperatures (yes, even Pollock Pines). Consequently, I have 3 AC installation estimates on my home this week and next, beginning today.

Yeah glad your safe Blade. that A/C is a must, my sister had hers cranking the whole time I visited her are we would of died! Was coming back from Reno Wednesday morning and Donner Summit was filled with smoke coming in making the drive rough for a stretch.
Yeah everyday was 100 plus in Reno where I visiting my sister. We we’re going to go to Chili/Rib cook off but it was some damm hot and it’s strictly outside on concrete ( add another 10-20 degrees) that we bailed to an indoor A/C movie instead..
Then I get home and it’s fucking 109 in San Carlos?? WTF hotter then Reno time to head to the ocean/beach 🏖 lol with everyone else

      • blade3colorado said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:34 am

        Thank you buddy.

Yeah no way I can see that happening as painful it is to watch the Giants. Now last year a total different scenario I was ALL IN on that crazy run they accomplished..

This year would be more like that 1986 film One Crazy Summer, where the dude lives in a run down shack filled with cigarette butts and smoke as he anxiously listens to his radio and awaits by his phone to answer a possible million dollar question from a radio station. He’s miraculously gets thru, answers the question correctly as the station is congratulating him and where to send the money and then his phone line went dead!Hello Hello Ooh so sorry on to the next caller..

    Me last night . . .

    mm

Glad to hear you guys are out of harm’s way. Hopefully this will be a short fire season. Nothing like the last few years anyway.

Ahh, little Alex viddys the double header.

  7. unca_chuck said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:07 am

And this is the last day of triple-digit heat. I hear there’s rain in the forecast.

    • Flavor said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:26 am

Yesterday tricked me. Based on Thurs I thought this was getting better but Thurs was one of the worst days yet

      • Flavor said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:27 am

        *based on wed sorry

  8. willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:27 am

Rams lol. Niners beat them last year they can do it again. Von Miller does make difference, huh? Maybe Bosa can pressure Stafford like that too.

    • Flavor said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:29 am

Rams have always been soft and probably got softer after winning last year. They consistently have zero home crowd advantage, I’m not worried about them at all this year.

  9. blade3colorado said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:34 am

The smoke is a double whammy for folks without AC. I have a system (like everyone else w/o AC probably), where I open windows at night and close them in the morning based upon room and outside temperature. It works up to about 92-93 degrees F, but after that you’re miserable. Couple that with smoke, it’s worse. Anyway, I put off installing AC last year and that was a big mistake. Climate change is going to get much, much worse, especially when numerous studies are indicating that the garden spots are in Wisconsin and upper Minnesota, where Stix lives. lmao

    • unca_chuck said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:45 am

Yeah, it’s crazy how much things have changed just in the past 50 years. When we were kids (in the 60s for me) it never got above 85 degrees in San Mateo. No one had A/C on most of the peninsula. It would rain from November to April. Never huge storms, just light rain off and on for 5-6 months.

Now you need A/C on the beach as you have weeks like this that hit the 90s+ on the coast.

      • willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:40 am

smoke seems to travel everywhere too, making air quality much worse. Glad it’s finally cooled off in south bay; late afternoon is really hot even with AC and tough to sleep at night. Dunno how those who live in higher humidity places stand it.

    • alleykat69 said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:45 am

Yeah everyone has a A/C unit in Mogul where my sister lives u have to have it Blade!
Hers is a Breem sets it around 73 works great, there’s plenty of brands to choose from I assume.
Man you go outside and it feels like Death Valley inside fantastic!

Agree Chuck rarely needed one on the Bay Area peninsula growing up, but climate control has changed everything, have a few on my block that has A/C added later and I thought why? Only have a few days that crank the heat days back then, now I sure wouldn’t my having one over fans..

  10. unca_chuck said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:40 am

Yeah, the Rams lost a lot on defense. Losing Sebastian Joseph-Day in the middle makes them weaker against the run.

Just great to see Ramsey getting toasted. And Stafford is Stafford. Still bummed Tartt dropped that pick. Gift pick that would have sealed the game.

  11. unca_chuck said, on September 9, 2022 at 8:57 am

Crazy play from 1954. A few questions. How high off the ground is Willie? Willie isn’t even tracking the ball at this point in the catch. And who needs padding? This is Ebbetts field so this was against the Dogs.

    mays

    • willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:43 am

wow. He always claimed the WS one wasn’t his best grab–was it this one or another? Thought it was against Dodgers.

      • willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:44 am

and of course was proud of throw that prevented Doby from scoring.

No shit. 480′ away and he only got to 3rd.

Post of the day. Just incredible.

  12. blade3colorado said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:08 am

Not absolutely certain about this, but per this site, it says the “fence height” was 10 tall, so Willie really got some air on that catch. http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/EbbetsField.html

How brilliant was Hank Stram to station 6’10” backup TE Morris Stroud directly
in front of the goalpost/crossbar to try to block long FGs on the way down?
Even though I’m pretty sure it never worked, the NFL eventually made it illegal.
The crossbar is 10 feet high, btw…

    • willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 1:01 pm

      Ha I remember that.
Every single team in NL West has more Ws than Cubs do. They are also 8-21 vs. NL West. no excuses, even with Austin Dean starting in LF today per Slush as Leone to IL.

One of few HS buddies I stay in touch with is from Kansas and was Chiefs fan in 60s when we were in HS, and still is. KC A’s fan too. Came to middle school dress up day as John O’Donoghue (SP) in A’s jersey.

I remember back in the day Bruce Taylor returning a short FG back for a TD.

      30 HRs and 126 ribbies.

The 2022 Giants are arguably the most disappointing regular season Giants team in our lifetimes, given that they won 107 games the previous season, and MLB added an extra Wild Card spot this season. Before this season started, making the playoffs seemed like a slamdunk.
The ’93 team had that hugely disappointing end to the regular season, but it’s impossible to be disappointed with that team itself.

  17. willedav said, on September 9, 2022 at 2:58 pm

that was ill timed. Hoerner, Stanford guy homers off Marte.

Weird. I started Streameast and it is bottom of the 2nd.

My kids were at the game today. Bummer. Rodon set record for most 10K games in Giant history today, or at lease SF history. I hope we sign him.

Anyone have thoughts on the new rules? My friend who is a baseball junkie (subscribes to baseball prospectus and see AFL finals 15 years straight) say the stolen bases went through the roof in the minor league games they did the only 2 throws thing. Every runner takes a huge lead. draws 2 throws, then a walking lead for an easy steal. Lame rule imo

    • djloo27 said, on September 9, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Walking lead? Why not a 40 foot lead?
