Not the way most of us wanted the NFL season to kick off but at least we took a win out of Chicago!
I’m not sweatin’ that Niner loss. Way too many variables stacked against Trey, he has to get better from that.

A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball 
The troubling thing to me about the loss isn’t Lance. It’s Shanahan and the front office. Their idea of strengthening the O line included letting their best guard go in Laken Tomlinson and not considering the fact that Alex Mack might retire. So our interior line consists of an unproven 2nd year (bust?) player in Aaron Banks, a center that hasn’t played in 2 years in Brendel, and a rookie in Burford who played terrible.
We saw how well that worked out yesterday. Shanahan seems to think he can turn anyone into a competent lineman. More galling was the defense went soft and prevent once the broken play to Dante Pettis happened. We got no pressure after that 1st TD.
Shanahan has an amazing ability to blow leads in the 4th quarter. After the FG making it 10-0, we were outscored 19-0. Sound familiar? 2nd and goal from the 2 and we had Aiyuk out wide one on one. So, naturally we run up the middle for a 2 yard loss.
So sick of this terrible situational coaching from Shanahan. He’s suppposed to be this offensive mastermind, but his only play is to take his best WR out of the passing game and getting a good run out of him once in a while. Teams have caught on to that for the most part.
If he’s gonna use Deebo as a RB, put his in the backfield so teams are force to cover him with a linebacker. You know, THROW to him.
Fuuuuuuck. This loss is squarely on Shanahan. He was out-coached by a newbie. Eberflus? He sounds like the protagonist in Son of Flubber.
Wilmet re-signed for 2 more plus option. Haven’t seen $$ but shouldn’t hurt bottom line much. Now go out and get couple guys who can hit HRs so that Longoria and Pederson aren’t best sluggers on the team, and keep Rodon in rotation. Bridge to 2024 when more prospects ready.

“The Giants threaded a lot of needles to get to 107 wins last year.” No shit, as these 4 sports writers point out . . . along with why they think this season has gone south into the shitcan. Some good perspectives and equally important, they don’t blame Z, Harris, or Kapler (which I emphatically agree with) . . . That being said, the consensus seems to be to open the purse strings for the 2023 season, because of the numerous holes in the roster.

Unca–agreed. Chicago never blitzed, they just rushed 4 and because of our shitty line they were still able to pressure Trey regularly. And then they can just sit back in zone and wait for him to stare a WR down, it was almost too easy.
here’s an idea: how bout rolling Trey out more often? Maybe he can’t throw running but that would be a huge concern, I thought that was something he was able to do.
And routes so he can get ball out quickly.
i’m reserving judgement until he gets a game that isn’t played in a monsoon. Same thing for the line, maybe that was why they were so shitty. But I need to start seeing some seedlings of greatness. You don’t give up 3 #1’s for anything less than greatness.

What helps me at times is about an hour before I go to bed I take a couple of small hits just to relax my brain and muscles. It works most of the time.
Kat- when your hip was bad did it hurt all the way down to your feet? I have had Sciatica nerve pain before but this is different.

No i never dealt with Sciatica with my hip luckily the pain was concentrated basically in the pelvis with arthritis buildup.I had it for awhile in the past but it went away after some visits to a chiropractor.But now even with my hip good I have developed Neuropathy in my feet( burning sensation off and on! Sucks getting old , one trade off for another! Good luck with your Sciatic condition Winder that can be a bitch..
The funny thing about rolling right is our line never blocks the DE on that side, the TE tries to run a route behind it, so the DE usually have a free run at our QB. Send a corner, like Hou did in the preseason game, and you have 2 guys running clear on our QB. happens ALL THE TIME.
This was about the worst case scenario for Trey’s first game, but really, Chicago is a 7 win team.
Speaking of TE, our TE is becoming the next Crystal Todd Shell. As is our RB who is out 2 months.

Baggs in Athletic makes case for bringing back Longo, thereby continuing Longo wars. Z said before he was open to re-signing Joc and extending contract to Yaz. No word on LaStella, though Slush mentioned SF might waive him at some point, and Baggs said that was necessary if they did bring back both Joc and Longo as DH platoon.
um, OK, but sounds like lot of same guys on offense coming back, as in Flores Bart Craw Estrada Wade Jr. Davis Slater Villar, not gonna leave much room for new blood.

Fucking Price is Wrong didn’t even suit up. Neither did their speed WR Gray. I sorta get that as the conditions sucked, but Jesus, I don’t understand the thinking. Last year’s wasted RB pick is already gone. This year’s model is the same throw-away type.
ALL our successful RBs in the Shanny era have been late picks or UDFAs. Brieda, Wilson, Mostert, and Mitchell. They inherited Carlos Hyde. So naturally they’ve wasted three 3rd round picks on RBs in their tenure here.
I just wish the front office and the coaching staff was getting a LOT more heat for the continual failings in the draft and on the field.
The guy they HAD to have, Joe Williams, didn’t even see the field in his spectacular NFL career. Sermon last year started the season out of shape and in the dog house. He gone. Davis-Price? No idea. He did little in the preseason and I guess we will see if he plays since I’m-not-Kevin Mitchell is on the shelf for 2 months, or they go out and find someone.
Hasty is on the Jags, and Sermon is the 3rd stringer for the Eagles. Mostert is the back up to Chase Edmonds. 5 carries, 16 yards. So they are out.
Brilliant.
Belt and Longoria will be gone.
Crawford ($15M) and LaStella ($11.5M) will be back.

huh Kruk mentioned pregame concert Friday 16th before LA game, played by Fito Reinoso. I’ve seen him play before at club in Berkeley on Shattuck, Cuban singer who led band called Ritmo y Armonia. Good show.
Concert is free at Seals plaza no game ticket required. Starts at 5.
Back door to the park — best place to enter if you’re there early (for BP, e.g.) — just grab a drink at the bar and head up to the bleachers. Friday evening lines get the concerts. That one sounds good.

Ups and downs of Calhoun’s career trace a helluva tale. Couple of bad injuries at mlb level — including some from an Urias FB to the face. Best season with Texas was 2019: .848 OPS, 21 HRs, in 83 games.

Another 4 out save, good for Kap. With right guys this can work. He used Rogers for 2 shutout innings during one of the recent opener games too. If Giants get enough pitching they can win games like last night, vs. good hitting teams, even without bombs of their own.
Cobb finishing strong for someone who hasn’t thrown very many innings in last 3 seasons. Sept he’s only allowed 3 runs in 18 innings, and in August only gave up 10 in 29 innings. Kap let him throws 106 pitches last night through solid 7. Turns 35 early in October, but good pick up and bargain at 2 yrs/$20 mil deal he signed prior to this year.

Mr.Ed is one of my favorite Giant player he’s such a clutch player, team clubhouse presence especially for the Latin players teaching them the ropes of pro ball,he’s nothing but CLASS!!

Just don’t overuse him in the field, he’s better off as a Super Utility guy to keep him fresh as much as possible! He loves the Giants and they love him, Great having him back for another 2 years at a great value signing! His stats compare evenly with Muncy this year at a lot less money..
yeah class act all the way. When Giants Latin guys say anything publicly it’s often through interpreter, Higueros I think his name is. Having Wilmet around to talk and listen to in their own language is definite benefit, on mound dugout or in clubhouse. maybe social outings too, long way from home.
