(LA)me Rolling Into Town
LA this weekend, sans the pomp and circumstance of a September race. They clinched the division in, like, August I think. That’s hilarious and sad at the same time. Decent chance they are going to have a very hard time getting sharp come playoff time.
Webby tonight.
Dogs have had fine season, but I could see Roberts losing their first set of playoffs, second round.
As #1 seed, I think (could be wrong) that after initial games are played btw 3-6 and 4-5 seeds, LA would get whomever wins 4-5 match up, and team that wins NL East would be 2 seed and get 3-6 winner . For LA that could be against Braves or Mets as WC team with best record, formidable opponents.
Meanwhile, Dusty has good a shot as any to win it all. With how well Stros have been under his tenure, might give final push needed for HOF.
Dogs should have #1 seed, let’s say Mets win East they’d be 2nd, StL 3rd.
WC Braves 4th, Phils 5th SD 6th hypothetically.
So second round would be LA vs. ATL-Phils winner
Mets would get winner of StL-SD.
I haven’t really listened to very much of Tim Flannery’s music but I’ve gotta give the dude huge cred for playing with two of my favs. Not only was he invited to sing at the Jerry Jeff memorial concert in Luckenbach Tx last year, but he is also opening for Emmylou in SF this month at some benefit called Bummers Ball. I bow towards his general direction.
I had to look up Bummers Ball. It’s a charity to save dogs. Very nice. I didn’t realize Jerry Jeff passed he was one of my favorites also.
Jerry Jeff was a staple on KFAT back in the Santa Cruz days. Up Against the Wall, Pissin in the Wind, his version of LA Freeway, and my personal anthemic favorite Gettin By. A year or so back a cousin of mine I rarely see who’d been surprised by some of my Facebook music comments sent me a JJW cd becz she thought I might like it. Forty some odd, nearly fifty, years after the fact, yeah, I did.
Like most, there has been certain people/bands that I’ve gone to see whenever they were in town, Jerry Jeff was always one of those for me.
Not a lot on Giant front but how about this re Niners..My brother calls Kittle Brittle Kittle.
We were talking about it. Kittle, Jimmy, Mostert Mitchele, Deebo, Bosa, and just about every DB / safety and O-lineman are always hurt. In the last 3 years not one of the key Niners have made a full season. Not sure but i don’ recall reading about other teams that consistently have their stars always hurt. Since it happens the Giants too maybe it’s in the water:)
Dodgers are great, and it wouldn’t be a shock if they won it, but they are like our 89 team. Built for regular season but no way they would be favored in a series against the Mets with Dergrom and Schuerzer then bassett and peterson assuming hey are healthy
mm yeah. I could see Braves RH power hitters going off on Dogs LH rotation too. Would Roberts trust Kimbrel to close one out? Does he have alternative to Bellinger? You know fanbase isn’t gonna accept anything less than WS win.
Peterson’s father Doug trained Seattle Slew as a 4 year old in 1978…
JJ Watt hasn’t played a full season more than half of his career. Dak Prescott has injury struggles and he’s out again. Any running back not named Frank Gore is injury-prone.
Kittle is pissing me off. I see him everywhere but on the football field.
Injuries do seem to keep coming for us every year. For the 49ers having so many great(supposedly) players we sure can stink it up on the field. But, just like living with the Giants for the last 60 years you learn to roll with the crap years. Right now I see most of the Niners problems as being coaching and drafting issues.
At this point I think Shanahan is vastly overrated. They[ve drafted very well at the bottom of the draft, but their 7 first round picks have resulted in ONE stud in Bosa and one solid WR in Aiyuk.
The rest are either gone or not very good. The jury is out on Lance. He needs to take his lumps like all those other guys did last year to get a feel for the speed of the game.
i totally agree.
Anyone know a freebie to watch the game?
Apple’s probably got it locked up. That’s how they roll. I haven’t noticed any of their drone-view digressions; maybe the wind and fog have fucked that up. If so, good. Hunter Pence is still working on his quiet voice. Good insights, light wit. He wants a real gig.
I thought Webb deserved the WMac award last year; same, this year.
The thing is, I have an annual subscription to MLBTV and to watch tonight’s game they want me to sign into Appletv. They advertise the game as being free (for now) but I don’t have an Apple ID and I feel I shouldn’t have to create a new ID and give information to a second party to watch a game that I already paid MLB for.
well, yeah. I see your point. I don’t subscribe to mlb becz I don’t really need to. So, adding apple for five bucks isn’t a big deal for me. But I do hate the inability to flip quickly around other channels during commercials. Takes too much bandwidth, I guess. My ten year old smart tv’s not very smart now for streaming. OLED’s on the horizon. I can see it from here, with $$$$ signs blazing.
Oh well, I can watch the game tomorrow if I want, but seeing the 5th inning score I might not want to replay it.
Joey completely misplays a high pop up near home plate and gets tagged with E2 even though the ball bounced foul. Is that common? An error on a foul ball?
Giants get their first hit, slow IF roller in the 6th.
Never mind the Giants.
The best play of the day was my sprawling game saving catch in left center for St. Bernard’s Church softball team of misfits. Followed by a fat Sour Diesel CBD joint…
There were women somewhat in my age range in the bar tonight and I couldn’t get myself interested…
Neither could they.
That shit is OVER…
Weird watching Gyros up here in PacNW. Gyros Are so boring ass, it’s Crazy. At least Pence adds some interest to the debacle of this Apple broadcast. — it’s like some bad spots talk going on for a couple of hours with some periodic game action thrown in…
I hope that’s your biggest concern.
Best wishes in your new home…
Thanks, Loo..,
It takes guts to re-locate – especially in our age group.
I hope you and anyone else here would get in touch with me if you ever visit the greatest sewer in the world…
Do Giants pitchers pay any attention to runners at first, or do they just not care about steals?…
Aaand, the Stolen bag scores…
mm guess I didn’t miss anything except LA beat down. Only thing to look forward to is whomever takes them out of playoffs.
Reading new Rickey Henderson bio by Howard Bryant, very well done.
Brit mystery show I like had actor in it who played pathologist for few seasons, and I saw he was in “One Night in Miami” in Malcolm X role. That was interesting movie, based on play and actors did good job on the 4 main characters.
Bozo, meant to tell you Streameast is working again. the extension is .io
Use it for all the games.
Don’t you and your gang have a train to derail?
Poor MadBum – its gotten ugly…
