Another Win
Got a win yesterday courtesy of all our aged and boring players. The new guys, man, what can you say about them? Hjelle has given up 25 hits in his last 4 appearances. Some how 3 of those 4 were relief appearances. That is….astounding. He’s supposed to be one of our hot prospects…..
Matt Duffy hit a home run yesterday for the Angels. MATT DUFFY. It’s amazing to me that dude is still around in some capacity. Slow, weak and injured his entire career but he’s got longevity on his side for sure.
Happy 55th GH!
Duffy is the best.
i knew this thread would smoke you out of the Reno shadows
Buster Posey is now one of the Giants principal owners and a member of the Board of Directors.
That has to be a good thing, right?
HBD to GH! Comments I’ve read on pitch clock at minor league level indicate 9 inning games can be done in 2-2 and half hours. Hope that works for MLB too, and it makes things easier for all East Coast guys that follow SF. dunno how they get through those mid week night games.
Buster Posey has joined the SF ownership group. This seems like more of a PR stunt than anything else but I guess there’s nothing wrong with having Buster around more often.
this is great
That was fantastic read from players’ stories, in Athletic. krukow Will Clark and Wotus are in there too
The Raiders value increased $2 billion by moving to Vegas. As Mark Davis wins his first championship running a team, the WNBA Las Vegas Aces.
Think it would be hysterical if the A’s moved there. To play baseball. In 130 degree heat. I guess they could play in the first underground stadium.
The A’s opened the 1996 season in Vegas and played their first six games there.

They renovated the Mausoleum? April would prolly be OK. But July-September would be heat stroke city. I guess it would be strictly night games. If they played outdoors.
Let’s see if this works.
ESPN story said Posey is one of 31 limited partners. total PR move (smacks of something Baer would do) to deflect criticism of Messrs. Johnson pere and fils. Now if he was part of FO charged with making decisions on baseball ops, such as finding a GM and better players, that would be completely different.
Not sure how much of a promotional thing this is, it is a pretty high dollar membership fee to belong to that club. But I guess if it was only bucks and not politics, Bonds could have bought a bunch of those partners out.

mm does sound unprecedented, and I’d hope if he talked people would listen. Does this make him invested financially in team success?
them shares don’t come cheap. Posey’s an unusually ambitious guy. He may intend to climb the ladder there. He’d sure as shit be a better face of the org than Baer, although that might mean he’d need to be in that box by the rail for many home games. I don’t think Buster’s affection for San Francisco runs quite that deep and he’s never been interested in bs limelight.
To me this is nothing but PR bullshit
Maybe, but they have those special assistant and advisory positions for that. Being listed as a principal partner in an LLC usually means you have some skin in the game.
Y’all think J.P. Ricciardi will be the new GM?
Hi, fellow Flappers. Magnus Flapdownus, the progenitor of this august (now Septembrist) forum, has prevailed upon me for a valedictory volley. (For the record, he and I are Wordle mutual jousters; he’s a formidable foe.) I had the hardest time gaining entry here. (There’s a straight line if ever there was one.) By some byzantine quirk, WordPress was treating me as an admin user. This likely goes back to the days when a rotating core of Flappers traded places running the show when Magnus was either taking a break or rejuvenating or sulking or on an orgy cruise in the South Pacific. So. Here we are. Quite simply, boundless thanks are owed to Magnus and this whole colony of Giantic partisans. I came on around 2009; maybe 2008. It’s not an exaggeration to say this place changed my life: from meeting our Progenitor in 2010 after which I watched the WS through the Knothole; 2012: Magnus inspiring me to buy a scalped ticket on the street as detailed in “World Serious”; Flapalooza in the hot sun, Marty Lurie interview, tedSpe’s sweating forehead, sombreros; 2014 WS: strolling the perimeter of the ballpark but not going in. So. Here. We. Are. As William Butler Yeats put it: “What they undertook to do, they brought to pass. All things hang like a drop of dew upon a blade of grass.” #gratitude
Great re-entry to Flap Universe. I’m gonna miss your posts after I shut this bitch down, Koko. But, we shall wordle on forever together
Got it in 2 today
That’s brilliant. I got it in 3 today. Brace yourself: Senor Flavore has gotten it in ONE.
All I cared about was being 100%. I had a system and it set me up to solve in 4. So I did, every day. But I got careless one morning, after about five or six months, and I’ve never been the same since. Still solving every day, but with steadily waning regard. The goddamned NYT spelling bee’s more interesting now.
I published a new book yesterday, my 21st if I am counting right: It’s INTERVIEWS WITH FAMOUS DEAD PEOPLE by Paul Kocak. This might be a link to the Kindle version, which is one step away from the paperback version. I say “might” because I’ve had problems with the bitly links. So, if the link does not go to the book, you now have adequate search information. You folks have been wonderful from the start of my verbal adventures, from BASEBALL’S STARRY NIGHT in 2012 until now. I thank you. https://amzn.to/3Ls9Y9C
Hjelle did pitch better yesterday, overall. He got lit up hard in one of the Dodger games.
I exchanged texts with TedSpe today, urging him to check in before this place checks out.
Thanks, great guy really funny too.
The Giants org. Probably wants to keep Posey close and hopefully in some sort of working capacity.
Brinson dfa’d to make room for Vosler.
Giants sure played “Mind Games” with many hitters & pitchers in their constant dump diving all year. Pick up a player, gone soon after.Pick up more players some released before they even make it to AAA are below. Guess it’s part of the game, but Z abuses the waiver too much.He found no gold this year, just fools gold..
Hejelle sent down as well, to take a look at some new pitching chump named Cotton:His mouths so dry he’s spittin Cotton..
Kapler is an idiot. Webb has maybe 2 starts left. Gives up his 1st hit in the 6th on 66 pitches and out he pops to hook him. SOO annoying. Good thing we have such a good bullpen right? I know the games no longer matter but just play some freaking baseball. Moron
SF worth 3.5 billion according to Forbes. Buster is now 1/30 principal owners. These guys are businessmen. I doubt they gave him anything. If Buster put in 3% that’s about 100 million.
Elway had a chance to put in 35 million in to the Broncos in 1998 for 20%. he declined. . They sold recently for 4.6 billion. Ouch.
Another Snodfart doof.
Winner Winner! Go Giants!
Buster is 1-0 as an owner!
I wonder if he’ll wear a mask and chest protector at board meetings.
At this point who cares? We get to see Waites and Szafucki pitch.
A winning streak!
