Newest Owner
Buster Posey has joined the ownership group. Mr. SD speculated he bought 3% my guess is that was closer to 1%. To me this is a straight PR move but there’s certainly nothing wrong with having Buster associated with the team.
Kudos to all of you who are still watching the games, that really impresses me.
well, bats have come alive at Coors, even for struggling guys like Craw Yaz and Wade. Vosler smoked triple last night as Giants had 15 hits. Dunno how Bud Black has stood to manage 6 years there where it’s such hell on pitching .
The big question is: will Gerald wear a face mask and chest protector at board meetings? Will the concussion protocol apply if a brickbat hits him from across the room?
Rox have team ERA of 5.03, worst NL. Give up most runs hits, and have fewest Ks in NL.
They are OK at home 40-36 with dead even run differential, but awful on road-24-48 with -138 run diff.
Posey family (wife and 4 kids) relocated to Georgia. Be interesting to see what he does with new position. Obviously Giants need immediate influx of talent to be more competitive and imo few of his former teammates are more of the problem than the solution.
Kokonuts, glad to see you posting again in the final days of this place. I wish more of the OG’s would post in the next month or so, would be great to hear from them (and keep tabs on who’s still alive!)
For the record, I am still alive, I think.
Wasn’t paying much attention, but any idea why Kap pulled Webb in 6th after only 66 pitches? He’d been shutting Rox out up to then. Webb said he had a goal of reaching 200 innings, and now sits at 187 with 2 starts left.
Rodon left last start with blister and had start this week pushed back according to Slush.
I read where the plan was to keep Webb at five innings. Since he had a no hitter going, they let him get into the sixth. He also had the rain delay with the extra warmup pitches that gave them some concern.
Don’t believe they will let him get to 200 innings.
Looks like Kap had decided pregame to do this, limit Webb innings.
another Brebbia aisle opener today.
Yeah, they’re going to start resting Webb for next season basically.
i’m fine with that. They should have traded Rodon too but that’s another topic
This off-season we’ll find out how much the Giants are willing to spend. It’ll be clear-cut about that.
btw I refuse to believe there was no value for Rodon. Either Farhan froze up or he didn’t understand what his true value was. But there was value there….
I hadn’t been aboard the Judge train, but I’ve come around on that. The Giants definitely have the money to sign him. And it could be like when they brought Bonds in, in ’93. A gigantic burst of excitement and energy to the whole organization.
Hell yeah. After this boring forgettable season I am starved for some excitement and some intrigue
Yeah, the whole Rodon thing is baffling. I mean, shit, we got a decent return for fucking Ruf (rucking fuf?), in Davis and some minor leaguers.
It’s not like Farhan doesn’t know how to deal, but could he have been that far off every other offer? I think he was hedging his bet to see if the team somehow kept rolling.
But if that was the case, he should have gotten bullpen help at the least. The whole thing looked haphazard and lazy on their part. And of course the wheels came off.
It was obvious it wasn’t happening at the deadline. He fucked up.
Trout is getting $35 mill a year. Judge would get $40 mill?
Judge is gonna be what? 7/$300 mill? I can’t see Judge getting a 10 year deal.
I don’t think 7 years will do it.
And he’s got the Yankees over a barrel.
8/320 for openers…
Hell yeah he does. they are having great season (so far) and he’s set to break AL HR record that goes back 60 years. I just don’t believe he winds up anywhere else–Yanks ownership would be flayed endlessly.
Come on down, Shelby Miller.
After we get a couple of innings out of you, we’ll toss you like a used tissue.
He’ll be 31 but these deals rarely go their full length anyway . . .
Not a fan of backing up the Brinks truck for today’s players, but whatever, it’s not my money. All of today’s players aren’t worth 2 shits compared to anyone before this century started. Before looking at the all time WAR on this link – guess which 2 players in the LAST TWENTY YEARS are above 100 career WAR? The first one is easy . . . https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/WAR_career.shtml
I’ll make a bet with anyone (albeit, it will take quite a few years to collect) – that there are ZERO MLB players today, not named Mike Trout who will total 100 WAR, which is 83.1 WAR behind Babe Ruth.
I’m with you; I’m with you. That’s why I was glad the Giants did not sign Harper. Um, exactly how many World Series did the team win with that Bonds guy?
Look, at BEST all we’re going to do is drive the price up for the Yankees to pay up. There is NO WAY NY is letting him go.
Correct. Not for a billion bucks.
LaMonte pads lead to 3-0 with 2 out line drive base hit to CF. Giants pen guys have shut Rox out for 6 innings so far. finally, someone who is even more boring than Giants
Vosler with another line drive XBH, double to RF too 9.
C000000000rs delight.
Doval closes them out. 4 game sweep, at Coors no less.
What a long distance from last year’s 107: I’ll consider this season a “success” if the team manages to finish at .500 or better. It’s a bit of a long shot, but it’d be a dollop of redemption to finish that strong. It’d be a “small death” instead of a big one.
Posey talked about playing meaningful games in October and having a chance to win World Series. As is this group is 10 games out of expanded wild card.
I’m fine with letting some of the young pitchers have a shot, like Waites Alexander or Marte or Young or Cotton a former SP who got in there today. Maybe they can help firm up pen 2023+.
But there are number of position guys responsible for where Giants are today that shouldn’t come back. It’s possible some of bright spots at AA ball including OF Vaun Brown, could get some run next year but there needs to be more talent on roster than there is now. Villar Vosler Estrada Bart OK. Add in some of Slater Davis plus Flores and Crawford OK. Still leaves room for an everyday non platoon player or 3, with power or speed and more athletic capable defenders than others that have put Giants where they are today.
Great time in Colorado!

2 OFers, 2 pen guys and a starter.
Glad to see Clint Zumiee!
Glad to see some of the usual gang of idiots still around. Makes one believe in…something
i almost missed this. Great to see you, my man. Hope you’ve had someone to mop up that head now and again as needed the last few years in my place
